Great channel. Have not found anywhere a link to the 65 screen used and if they met your recommendations (hz..). Also wondered if space was no issue if bigger would be better. Hope to read back from you. Good luck with your m. Issues. I know it ain't easy
I am not entirely sure but the Hz or frame limit is caused by HDMI not 4K resolution. You should always use the so called "display port" connection on your monitor and graphic cards to prevent this limitation.
was looking for sum but there wasn't one. no1. adjust fov no2. three small screens are better than a big one no3. buy screen with low input lag no4. mind button layout no5. buy a solid cockpit no6. fine tune your fbb settings no7. don't mind other people, enjoy what you enjoy no8. join a quality racing league no9. turn off driving assist no10. push yourself hard and challenge faster people
@Melvin Frazier Tires you out ??? I have spent many a friday or a saturaday night racing on iracing from 6pm till 6am with my friends mate . I dont know why it would tire you out but then i supose everyones different . I have the oculus rift touch which i know is a lot lighter and more comfortable than HTC vive (reason i chose it) and i removed the ear phones that are attatched to them and use a pair of sennheiser hd599s headphones instead . I have a wall mounted fan mounted on the wall above my monitor and it blow air directly at me so i dont get hot and am kept nice and cool while i race/drive . This also adds to epic emersion when driving open top cars too . Its all in the set up mate . But then like i said , eveyones different . But racing in vr totally blows me away mate and i couldnt imagine going back to monitor set up for racing games .
Another note: expensive gear does not mean you’ll be faster. Drivers around the world have budget setups that have great skill and would beat someone with $5000 worth of gear.
@@v1tam1ns Check the top-lists for each track in different games. A lot of best lap times are set on g29:s and t300:s. I've even seen some gamepad in the top 15 on some tracks.
Every race game I play that’s the first thing I do, I want to be in control and the feeling you get when you are hauling ass and barely make it clean through that corner feels so good.
I discovered I was so much faster without assists on. I drive it like a normal car. I am better in setting up the car, but I am car mechanic as my day job. I also got a better driver from driving rally games like Dirt you have to listen to the pace notes you learning the tracks lasting over 10 minutes is just as hard as learning it the proper way. I Like the new f1 2020 because it has Zandvoort I live in the Netherlands and always imagined myself racing there, now I can with sim racing.
@@ClellBiggs That's a problem for some people, yeah, but it's like the first time you use a steering wheel for a sim when you're used to driving a real car. The first times you press the pedal can be... disconcerting. You expect the inertia to move you, but there is nothing. I find that worse than any VR motion sickness, to be honest, haha. But it's just a matter of getting used to it. A friend of mine almos puked the first time he tried my old CV1, but a month later he'd already grown his VR legs, so much so that he ordered a Rift of his own.
@@XironRules ??? I dont know what HMD's have you used but the Rift CV1 had usable resolution, small text was a challegne but that's it. The new rift is a step back in a lot of fields but the total resolution is improved. And then you have devices like the Vive Pro, Pimax, or Valve Index (this one even does 144hz) that are perfectly crisp. In fact i dont have a problem doing things like browsing reddit in my Index with virtual desktop.
As a musician, really appreciate the comparison to learning an instrument - and encouraging people to get lessons! I was thinking to myself the other day that practicing driving isn't too far from practicing an instrument, and there you go saying the same thing!
You've got it right. It is all hand - eye coordination; well in this case feet also count. Practice makes perfect and there are exceptional people who can do it spontaneously. Been around many of pic'ers who can jump right in and Travis pick something I've worked weeks on and still can't do it. Been around many track shoes who continually make the same mistakes no matter how many laps they've put in.
From a “noob”, I really appreciate this video. Been playing F1 with a controller for about a year. Take Monaco. I roll off a 1:09-1:10, but I know a 1:07-1:08 is needed, so I’m in that spot where I know I need to get a rig. Your video has been extremely helpful! Thanks!
@Steven Hedtmann this makes me feel pretty good about myself haha. It's not uncommon for me to set top 1% times on tracks with a controller as well (Forza Motorsport, don't flame me too much).
This is one of the best "top ten" videos i've seen. All good points. A lot of other videos have 5 good points and 5 points of fluff. So many trolls out in the internet with a voice, or maybe just immature kids.

Just ordered T300 RS GT as my first wheel. Can't wait to get into this :D Thanks for all the tips!
Love this video and watched it multiple times. I finally took your advice and turned off the racing assist line. It’s much harder, naturally, but after four hours, i can already tell that I’m paying more attention to my speed and to entering and exiting corners correctly instead of the “training wheels” telling me where to drive and how fast. Thanks!!!
Very good tips that I agree with. :) iRacing was one of the things that made me improve the most during my simracing years, because it forced me through its online racing, irating and progression system to not be reckless, to be mindful and improve.
Yeah my very point, I just got back into it. I am about to order my cockpit. Excited to see the difference between a desk and office chair, to a solid cockpit.
Number 9. Turn Off Assists. I was much like you and did not want to turn off some of the more general assists. I got the to the point where I had all off except for braking line, and ABS. ABS was the last to go for me...but... In Forza Motorsports 6, there was a challenge card that reduced my brake efficiency by 25% for a generous reward. I loaded it up and ran with reduced brakes. WOW what a difference!!!!! Forcing myself to manage my brakes by feel (instead of guesses and prayer) increased my lap times by more than 2% within 3 or 4 races. Because I could not rely on the option of jamming the brakes on a bad line, I was forced to anticipate a smarter line through the turns. HUGE tip here that should not be ignored or feared!!!
@@danielegaggiotti2238 that pretty much depends on the series, many have ABS. GT3 and GT4 for example have ABS and TC. GTE only has TC. I drive mainly AC/ RF2/ R3E and ACC and use them only if the real car has them. You can fine tune them in all of these sims, which helps findung your personal sweet spot for every Car/Tracks/grip situation. It doesn't slow me down in any of these Games because they are often well implemented (i dont know how that is in Forza or GT). I actually have TC/ABS always on my wheel to be able to change it for special corners or when the grip situation changes.
I rock a g29 and my motto is take that time and effort to understand the settings, when I started it would often be very confusing until I really dove into what each setting was and how it affected other settings. Other than that, it's all up to what makes you feel better. Like he said, detail is more important than pure force. I usually go with whatever let's me feel the edge of grip personally
Super glad you spoke about assists!!! I was having issues correcting a slide that was ending in a complete spin out or crash because my natural read to control or correct wasn’t working for some reason. Then I realised I had assists on. These assists actually make you a worse driver because it feels like the computer assists are conflicting or combating your natural read and response of the car’s movements. Lol literally feels like the assists are fighting against you instead of assisting.
Very good pointers, and about the last one i can attest to it, I am in iRacing and found myself battling it out against faster guys (i managed to make a blistering qualifying lap due to some outlap trickery shaving half a second off my fastest lap) and qualified in p5. Now my goal was to follow those faster guys and boy they were faster than my normal race pace by 1 second, but I managed to keep up (barely and due to their battles between them) but I had to push myself to the limits and when I checked my race pace after the end of the race (got 3rd place) I found out that my race pace was significantly faster than all the other races on that track and car before. That translated to better race pace for the next races (not as fast as that one where i had to push right to my limit) but say half a second + faster, which is huge by the end of a race. Now what you would like to do is to battle it out with faster guys but not so much faster they will leave you so far back, because when this happens you will go to default mode and just try to finish the race in your position, no point in pushing to catch the uncatchable which is a wise tactic especially in iRacing as you need to think about your SR and iRating and one mistake may destroy both. BTW my gear is as crap as it can get office chair, pedals held in place by a slipper before the wall and using the Logitech DFGT setup and sometimes the wheel comes off the office while i am driving and have to put it back and tighten it, and my chair swivels when i turn and moves back when i am in a heated battle :P but im doing ok-ish
1st one FOV is something I realised on my own a few months ago and everything you said about it just sounded so familiar, I wish i’d corrected it way sooner than I did
I’ve had a playseat challenge, a tcl 27 inch screen, and a Thrustmaster t300 for a couple of years now. I have the Ferrari alcantara rim, and the Ferrari F1 rim (which I modded to have an lcd display using your simhub video). I have basically the most budget rig you can get, but I enjoy it so much. Also, you made a great point about which game to use. I own rFactor 2, iRacing, etc, but I’ve found myself playing F1 2018 career the most. I almost forced myself to play rFactor 2 when I saw some people online saying F1 2018 was too “arcadey” and not realistic enough. But as an F1 fan I’ve found that I’m much happier playing F1 2018.
good point. The important part is to have fun. I have found the F1 2021 game to be fun, quick to have some online races, and simple on car setup, just enough to have some quick races in between taking care of small kids and family jumping around you.
Great information. After I switched from standard Thrustmaster 2 pedals to T3PA Pro I started picking myself up off the ground. Can’t wait to upgrade my chair

A good rig, I didnt realise how much of a difference it made until I got one. I was using a crappy rig, a lot of movement with a G29 steering wheel and backward movement with the pedals. I upgraded to a CSL 2.5 and was mid race and broke the wheel base plate off the stand. I got an RSeat and it has been an amazing improvement, as far as consistency. I to play F1 games as well, until ither games get liscensed to use current cars and liveries it will remain my favorite game. Maybe we will cross paths sometime.
I have nothing in terms of hardware or software. What do I start with? I have a ps4...should I invest in a gaming pc? Is it all plug and play in terms of putting a rig together? I have basic experience with cables, wires, tools and such. Maybe a ground up video for those with zero sim experience?
People make fun of me for playing Forza Horizon 4,Farm sim 19, or Spintire/Mudrunner but there just fun to play with my friends and family and kill time Tho at same time I also race in Iracing just got my C class but now looking at upgrading from my G29 to Thrustmaster or Fanatec. I posted something similar on one of your newer videos, but for a brand new sim racer you can't go wrong with with the Logitech G29/G920 sets. As I gain experience I will certainly be looking to upgrade but for now I couldn't be happier with this set up.
Ya, he needs a caveat at the beginning saying what he talks about is multi-thousand dollar set-ups for people that aren't sent free stuff in the mail. Not saying it's a bad video, but it sure as hell is aimed at the 1%.
Here I am sitting here watching this in front of my "rig" , a Logitech g920 clamped to a computer desk with a single screen (at least its a 2k Acer Predator running at 120hz). Sadly I dont have much space or budget, but still learnt quite a lot from this video. I only started turning off the racing line a few months ago, now I couldn't imagine racing with it on again. I really enjoy finding my breaking and turn in points gradually and improving each lap until I'm fast enough to compete.
Such good advice! I’m just starting out so I found this really informative. I love that you remind us that it’s about having fun and learning and stretching yourself. Cheers mate!
This is great video but a good reminder remember that standards change. HDMI 2.1 is able to handle 240Hz at 4K so today it is is possible to run a 4K TV at high refresh rates. And TVs these days also support variable refresh etc.
I only leave the racing line on in games like Forza, because I never know where the road is going. I don't follow the line, but it shows where I need to go. That said, they aren't racing sims, of course.
Oh wow thanks so much for the tips, I have played around with the settings on my 26inch 10 year old computer screen and straight away became consistent nailing back to back to back laps within tenths of a second. In the 4 months I have been doing sim racing I have never done so many laps this good. Thanks so much I can’t wait for Tuesday’s racing.
Very glad I didn't compromise on my first build, I think the only upgrade I could do is the traction loss system. And swapping from pimax 8k to pimax 12k next year
Thats why i focus on PC2. Yes i know, the simulation isn't the best on the market. Yes, the car setups need lots of work to feel right. But for me, PC2 is incredibly immersive. No other game makes me feel like i'm actually racing more than PC2.
To anyone with a g920/ g29 i just recently bought a GT omega pro cockpit and it has been the best upgrade by far! I also have my wheel upgraded to a real race wheel and modded my shifter to be sequential.

good points, i am waiting on direct drive base to come in now, just the more accurate steering alone on the direct drive is the reason i put the money down. Just a night and day difference for inputs alone, force feedback is stronger but i didnt really care about that. Whatever makes you better when you go to a racing school either beginner or advance is worth the money I spent.
Great video man! Rig rigidity was something I had prioritized when getting into sim racing. I ended up going for the rSeat Rs1 rig. Was a bit pricey but was well worth it. Really more so now with my Fanatec Podium direct drive wheel coming soon.
Hey you Aussie beauty. Just wanted to say your videos are excellent. Now everyone reading this knows that. I know that. And you must have a sneaking suspicion as to how good they are. So it seems I'm wasting my time again. The things you do when waiting for the 5. Thank you brother, have a marvelous day pal :)
This was 30 minutes of almost straight nodding for me. :D Lots of good advice and true facts there. One more thing on the "correct" FOV topic: Distances are much easier to gauge too, as objects should have the same angular size within your field of view as they would in real life. Also approaching objects kind of warp towards you on too high a FOV, as objects in the distance get smushed together and expand as they travel towards the camera. Very much like the fish-eye view of a GoPro for instance, making the track seem very narrow and the car fast. In fact, this is often used by arcade-type games to "enhance" the sense of speed. I think that, plus the high FOV of real life onboard cameras and the fact that most normal computer setups require tiny FOVs that suck to drive with make people tend to deprioritize or dismiss the advantages a calculated FOV has.
Thx Lots of good info, if you do a part 2, I would add sound, and tactile mods. Low end transducers for cabinets, or rigid setups. From the arcade realm adds vibrations to rig. High End Servos and seat movement. In my opinion surround sound makes the immersion illusion much more complete.
My next upgrade is going to be a 3 axis servo driven base for seat and wheel. Just something modest, just a few degrees, to translate the opposite chassis loading and acceleration and braking. Winter project. 🤪🤓🤪

Oh man. Just bought a moza wheels and brakes, but don't have room for the cockpit! Have I made a huge mistake? Will I even be able to drive? I have a regular office chair with wheels and a desk, and that's all I'm gonna be able to use as long as we don't move.
Finding FFB settings is still the most difficult thing for me... I always feel like there's something wrong but I can't figure out what or which setting to change...
When I have a working FFB-Setup that is about 90% right, I leave it that way and just get used to it. For me personaly it is much easier to adopt to the slight imperfection of the FFB then constantly hunting down the last 10% and always drive with different settings. But then again, I'm using an old DFGT wheel where you can't reach perfection anyways^^.
Well I turned off al the assists... It was like driving a 3 wheeled suopermarket trolly. However I am persevering with it and getting to be able to drive again and picking up some speeed. I will never be very competative because at my age the reactions are slowing down. (if only I'd had the funds when I was younger) Still tremendous fun!
Very nicely presented with good tips. Two and a half years later: TVs have developed quite a bit, but there's plenty of contemporary value in this, especially for me - as a bloody beginner... Thanks, man!
Shouting out ma boi Jiddy :), further to that point, I won Monaco in front of him with an old DFGT, 22 Monitor and polystyrine-y office chair. Good tip with the pedals, was gonna upgrade pedals, I won't go with load cell and stick to the standard csl elite with option to upgrade down the road
Great video. I'm about to start buying gear. My budget is so low. But it feels like I found a ok setup for around 550€ Thrustmaster t248 for ps5 and a play seat challenger. The room it will be in requires quite the small movable setup. And I'm a novice. the immersion will probably go up around 2340% anyway. Think its a good buy. Considered the Fanatic GT DD but that setup is almost double in price....
I’m using a 65” curve TV and it seems like your in the car and you can use your peripheral vision to see your break markers instead of them just being out there like on a flat screen I like it, I’m not a fan of the three screen thing the angle of them looks weird to me and then where they connect would bother me the big black bar would distract the hell out of me, I play on a console I don’t think you can do a three screen on a console so the curve is best I’m gonna get
I agree about the racing line ONLY if you have some time under your belt and understand the general mannerism of the vehicle. Traction control, the physics.
this helped me a lot to be honest i feel like other people's opinions are just opinions so i should just to what i love, i really like your videos keep it up aussie aussie aussie!!!
I'm a total shoe-string budget simmer, me. I run a 27" 1920x1080, 60Hz HP monitor, and a Logi G27 as hardware. My software of choice is the original rFactor; I cut my teeth on GPL, using a Logi MOMO, and a 13" monitor back in the early '00s. I splurged on a pair of Ferrari Pumas. I prefer offline hotlap sessions with quickly-calibrated AI traffic over racing - primarily due to equipment limitations. My rig's not so hot online, unfortunately, and racing the rFactor AI in full-length races, no matter how good, I always end up in the points coz they can't seem to hold it together longer than 30 to 45 minutes or so - once past that, they fall off a cliff and I end up passing more retirements than traffic. So it's hotlapping with maxed-out AI for me. Great video, mate. Lots of good advice, regardless of kit. Proper FOV, adjusted FFB, visual assists-free, challenging AI opposition, and max realism settings is the best way to go.
Great, no AMAZING, input and I wish I could have viewed this 5 years ago when I started. One thing I am not sure I agree with (after spending 1-2 years with each config) is that a single 32:9 49” at 3840x 1080 curved screen 144hz refresh with a 1080 to is a great option to me. I had first used triple 32” 144Hz monitors with 3 1080ti’s, but I never got used to the borders and inter-game alignment issues. Fortunately I purchased used 1080 ti cards and 32” monitors, so I put the extra $1,800 into a rear slip motion mod. The rear slip added much more value and performance benefit (added to my shakers) than many other things, as it really helped me sense rear end slip and oversteer better.
I have just gotten into sim racing and starting with a g29 and playseat set up. Next is screen/monitor and a relevant PC set up. Very informative, thanks!
I use 1 4k 55 inch screen and I think I am pretty competitive. On another note my friend went with an ultrawide because the side pillars of a multi-screen set up doesn't sit well with him, he just doesn't like to see the split in the image because it breaks his immersion. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Great video btw!
I'm not suggesting for a moment that you can't be competitive with a single screen. Just that in terms of realism, you need the screens to actually wrap around you to show the correct perspective.
Bolt your pedals to a piece of mdf board from your local hardware store to stop the sliding or tipping when you hit your brakes. Get the measurements right so you can have your pedals in the right position with the end of the wooden board tight up against the wall behind your desk. This is a great solution for those of us who want a better pedal set but don't have the money or room for a racing cockpit. Also, invest in a sturdy chair without wheels!
Re: the FOV in particular, I used the first FOV calculator link and based on my (admittedly very basic) single-screen setup the result came back at 27 degrees of FOV for AC, which is certainly lower than what I was using, which I think was the AC default. I use the MX-5 ND on the Nordschleife as my test car and track for pretty much everything, because I've owned an MX-5 for 14 years and I'm very familiar with how it drives, plus I know the Nordschleife very well and it has every kind of curve you can work with. After doing several laps at this FOV I found that things definitely feel more realistic in general, such as the road undulations, and being able to hit apexes and turn into them more accurately. But the problem I've experienced is that with the lower FOV it's harder to see around tighter curves and some sweepers because you have a much more narrow view. I had to do a lot of corrections because I basically couldn't see what was coming next nearly as well. A good example is going through the Carousel. I could only see about a half-car length going around it and had to make many more quick steering adjustments than I would with a higher FOV, and had to work a lot harder because of this. And that was basically the case for many of the curves as well. So, imo if you don't have a triple screen or curved screen, you have to react much more quickly an frequently with the lower FOV that the calculators come up with. I felt exhausted after only a few laps because I felt I was working so hard (just as point of reference, I don't use high FFB settings). I'll try increasing the FOV some until I think it's at that sweet spot between the increased sense of realism the lower FOV gives and the practicality of a slightly higher FOV. And thank you Boosted Media for putting together a really useful video. Cheers!
Btw i think that one major point for getting better is you need to practice your consistency. If you just hotlap for times you will do good in qualifying, but in a race when you push a little to far your gonna wreck the car and end up ruing the race. Do multiple laps in a row and focus on not crashing, not speed. PRACTICE FOR THE RACE NOT THE QUALIFYING. Consistency will beat one or two fast laps everytime.
Yes and no... Though it is really important getting a consistent race rhythm, as long as you're approaching to the top split races you'll need to qualify pretty well in order to get any chances to win. To do that you're gonna need to practice hot laps and then freeze the way you drive in those hot laps to use something close to it in the races. The problem with training only race stints is that sometimes you freeze the wrong way of driving, like a way under the limit, which will make you never being competitive after all. So... Begining: hot laps, then full stints. At some point after you've got a lot of experience you do only stints, but tries to achieve the readlines within it, making your hot laps inside of the full stints without have to do two separates things
@@boostedmedia Wow that was fast Thanks, I'm currently running 3x22" 5292x1050 I was thinking maybe a 21:9 3440 x 1440 may be better because of no bezels ps: there are 32:9 5120 x 1440 monitors but they are $1,500
David Davies I’m using a 35” 21:9 3440*1440 but I’m saving up to change to a triple monitor setup, immersion isn’t the key for me but the sense of speed (guess that’s sort of immersion too) I get from seeing things pass on the sides makes braking easier . At least for me. Don’t know how a 32:9 would do tho.
The most obvious point made here is probably the most important one as well - Race/play the sim that you like the most! If you like it more than all other titles isnt it logical that you will enjoy it and have the most fun with it rather than playing another game just because some "pro" told you that you should? I've heard so many people say that they love a certain sim but the usually play another one because its "superior"for whatever reason. I guess a reason for this is that when it comes to simracing just the name of it implies that the simulation is the most important bit but IMO in case you are not doing it on a professional level that its hardly the case.
that's solid... there's a guy got me interested in racing (we used to play Gran Turismo on PS2 together a lot) that really races on a bucket, card table and 27" tv. I see him laughing every race even tho he gets punted a lot and doesn't win much. I know he's having a great time with friends online but really hasn't spent a dime on sim racing. My G29 cost more than his whole setup and I leaned you don't have to spend hardly any money to have hundreds of hours of fun
I’ve been driving without assists in my games, except for the racing line in F1. I just CANT figure out the tracks well enough. But I feel it’s more f1 than me, because in project cars I never needed the line. It’s strange, but I’ll give it another shot. I’m mainly excited for the F1 22 having vr, that helps so much with braking points
Nice video! I started out with a Thrustmaster TX300 wheel and the F1 wheel addon, the Playseat Challenge cockpit and a 24-inch BenQ Zowie monitor 144hz. I'm still running this after 3 years, except for the monitor which is upgraded to a BenQ 35-inch ultrawide. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I was going to continue, so I decided to find the middle-path, to spend a reasonable amount of money on this hobby. Today though...welll...I'm thinking of upgrading some stuff =) I still think that you can become a great racer even without the "high end" stuff. Practice, practice, practice! Spend more time in your car than adjusting hardware =)
@@andrewwhite9084 I think that is a great starting point. I'm able to beat the official F1 2018 pole lap times with my TX300 and T3PA pedals, except for France and Germany, got .5 sec to go on those =) Anyway, another tip, when you're ready to upgrade, is to get better pedals. The T3PA are fine, but a loadcell brake pedal is better. Pedals are often overlooked and they shouldn't be, I think they're the most important part of driving a car. I'm buying the Fanatec CSL Elite pedals next, keeping it real, not overdoing it =)
I had a t300 t3pa and the th8a shifter, then I changed to Fanatec after things kept breaking, was an expensive change but the quality and overall feeling of immersion is better
@@TheMack Yep, Fanatec gear is great. I got the CSL Elite pedals w/o the load-cell brake at first, since I use paddle shifters and didn't need a clutch. Ended up getting the load-cell brake after all. Still have to turn (way) down the brake sensitivity in-game as I want to keep the default settings on the wheel/pedals, and adjust in-game. Otherwise, it gets to be (way) confusing especially when switching between sims. I also ended up switching out the little foam cushy spacer and going with the rubber ones on the load-cell brake. In the vid, BM mentions rigidity of the rig, and he's right as my NLR wheel stand seems to have some flexing and I am using an office chair, and it is not optimum.
I just recently started sim racing. I already had A VR headset. and a friend of mine gave me his Logitech G25 that has never been used. from here on i can see how this can get very expensive very fast!
Hey Will, I’d like to clarify something. I think the car pivot around the front axel since that the only other part of the car that touches the stationary ground. And in the concept of slip angles, the slip angle is measured using the front axle as the vertex. Theres a high chance im wrong but this is how i thought about it. Also asked a few friends and they seem to understand it
Ajdust FOV. Very easy to say with 3 50'' screens. Try that on a 19'' screen that you can't really get much closer because the wheel housing. You end up with less than 15deg vertical to see a bagload of nothing ahead
Fov, screen size, refresh rate, A lot of these are solved by getting a decent VR headset. Worrying about all that was what I hated most about racing on a screen now I can just drive and forget all those fov calculators.
For non vr games, I use my quest 2 connected as a rift headset, and use the virtual monitor feature. It’s like I have a massive high fidelity tv right there.

Great channel. Have not found anywhere a link to the 65 screen used and if they met your recommendations (hz..). Also wondered if space was no issue if bigger would be better. Hope to read back from you. Good luck with your m. Issues. I know it ain't easy
I am trying to figure out if I should get the Logitech g920 or the thrustmaster TMX pro
I am not entirely sure but the Hz or frame limit is caused by HDMI not 4K resolution. You should always use the so called "display port" connection on your monitor and graphic cards to prevent this limitation.

Another note: expensive gear does not mean you’ll be faster. Drivers around the world have budget setups that have great skill and would beat someone with $5000 worth of gear.
I would bet anything you put those good drivers that are currently on budget setups onto a high end setup they will be able to drive better.
s3rendip1ty I think the only upgrade that makes a difference in driving is pedals.

i love the fact that you stressed how important it was to enjoy what your playing rather than listening to what people say i love the f1 games as well
Agreed, ...when you first start driving without assists, it is a satisfying achievement just to get a clean lap in, let alone, a quick one.
Every race game I play that’s the first thing I do, I want to be in control and the feeling you get when you are hauling ass and barely make it clean through that corner feels so good.

@@ActNasty5 same. My first sim was asseto corsa. Abs ? Gone. Traction control ? Gone. The rest ? Well just turn it off 😂
Maxim Ravinet exactly i was trying to feel the high horsepower light up the tires hahaha
3 first things get solved by buying a VR headset, with the advantage of being cheaper than triples and not needing any extra space.
That's what I use, but that isn't an option for everyone due to motion sickness.

Thanks!
Mate, what are you even talking.. a 1:09-1:10 with a damn controller? If you didnt beat world record with a proper Rig already, Im disappointed.
iRacing was one of the things that made me improve the most during my simracing years, because it forced me through its online racing, irating and progression system to not be reckless, to be mindful and improve.
Don`t racing cars have ABS? (genuine question)
@@eduardofreitas8336 nono, racing cars are without ABS (in fact you can see when they block tyres)
@@danielegaggiotti2238 Depends on the league. Most do actually.
100% agree, however if a car has TC and ABS in real life then ill use them.

Lmao!
This was 30 minutes of almost straight nodding for me. :D
Lots of good advice and true facts there.

That seat moves around a lot while you are just talking, I wonder how much flex there is from the wheel?

Finding FFB settings is still the most difficult thing for me... I always feel like there's something wrong but I can't figure out what or which setting to change...
When I have a working FFB-Setup that is about 90% right, I leave it that way and just get used to it. For me personaly it is much easier to adopt to the slight imperfection of the FFB then constantly hunting down the last 10% and always drive with different settings. But then again, I'm using an old DFGT wheel where you can't reach perfection anyways^^.

Wondering if buying a cheap car for the local track would be more suitable
Nice video man! I'm just getting started in sim racing, so I appreciate the tips!
Nice! Which rear end slip system did you get?
Boosted Media - I used the SimXperience rear traction loss DIY kit.
I am confused… most vehicles have mirrors infront of you.
I have just gotten into sim racing and starting with a g29 and playseat set up. Next is screen/monitor and a relevant PC set up. Very informative, thanks!
try get the vr, i never use my screen for racing ..vr is far better and more realistic..
Nice one . I have the same setup and i must say is pretty nice ! I will get this new oculus s vr next month.
Fantastic advice! Already got something to work on. Thanks.
Thanks for the tips, I’m new to sim racing 😂
Cheers!
Big plus for #8.
@@danielmachado5176 yeah thats true. You just can't only practice for times.
"three small screens are better than a big one" - Is that still true with qhd ultrawide monitors ?
Yep. At least in my opinion. Ultrawides don’t curve around you enough to offer the same level of immersion.
@@boostedmedia Wow that was fast Thanks,
I'm currently running 3x22" 5292x1050 I was thinking maybe a 21:9 3440 x 1440 may be better because of no bezels
ps: there are 32:9 5120 x 1440 monitors but they are $1,500
David Davies I’m using a 35” 21:9 3440*1440 but I’m saving up to change to a triple monitor setup, immersion isn’t the key for me but the sense of speed (guess that’s sort of immersion too) I get from seeing things pass on the sides makes braking easier . At least for me. Don’t know how a 32:9 would do tho.
David Davies I might try 3 budget screens with 1080p res but make sure input lag and refresh rate are good.
@@TheD4VR0S I've seen a few other content creators that went ultrawide for like 6mos to a year and then they switch back everytime
I have Logitech G29 I mount to my desk. I think I'm pretty fast lol.
that's solid... there's a guy got me interested in racing (we used to play Gran Turismo on PS2 together a lot) that really races on a bucket, card table and 27" tv. I see him laughing every race even tho he gets punted a lot and doesn't win much. I know he's having a great time with friends online but really hasn't spent a dime on sim racing. My G29 cost more than his whole setup and I leaned you don't have to spend hardly any money to have hundreds of hours of fun
In the video, he mentioned one of his friends got a champion with it. It's about the fine tuning the settings and how you play.
Same bruh
The mack literally everything I've considered getting.
I'm buying the Fanatec CSL Elite pedals next, keeping it real, not overdoing it =)
You can hang with the best in sim racing driving with a T300 or G25/27/29 wheel. A good LC brake pedal is a big plus though.
Thx for the octaneonline racing link. All signed up except for there discord channel as the link has expired.
Also asked a few friends and they seem to understand it
Thanks boss.Looking forward to your next livestream 👍
How the hell did you get sponsored
I've just released a new Beginner's Guide to Sim Racing! Check it out HERE: ua-cam.com/video/XjcW3qzWTyE/v-deo.html
haha I just commented this video link on your beginners guide
And a vr headset in most cases can be cheaper than triple screens
@@llengford for me its around 2 hours
For non vr games, I use my quest 2 connected as a rift headset, and use the virtual monitor feature. It’s like I have a massive high fidelity tv right there.
