Asura couldn’t because he was possessed by his wraith and chakravartin to stay alive. When chakravartin died, the energy he was using to keep resurrecting him died as well.
All the other guardian generals deserved all of their beatdowns, except for Yasha, I felt sorry for him in the game after all he's done to repent for his mistakes.

To Be honest. That more sounds like Indian Mythology. Durga, Mantra, And then Brahmastra. Actually Brahmastra is created by Lord Barhma himself. who is known for creating the universe. And those 8 deities is kinda confusing. I mean They mostly use refrences of Indian mythology, and also characters, but art more like Chinese and Japanese culture. But I love this game. ^ ^

To this day, Asura's Wrath has been my favorite video game. Yes the end wasn't ideal, it was still fun. Since then I have been trying to find games like this and found Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. Another other similar games? Also I still don't know what genre of game this is, the closest I got was a Character action game.
Just a note: Asura doesn't take 12000 years to wake up, it takes him that long to get back to the mortal world. Each time he wakes up in naraka he returns to earth faster than the time before.
You forgot about the epilogue were it's HEAVILY implied that asura became the new and only source of mantra. The asura dlc skin for street fighter kinda confirms this as it has a reincarnated asura skin
