- The Metal Gear franchise is an undisputed classic. However, the story can be a little confusing at times. So today I am here to make that story a little easier to understand. We already covered Solid Snake on a previous episode of Honest Gaming History. So now, it's time to cover the man that was meant to replace him, Raiden.

I remember a time when everyone hated Raiden for taking the spotlight from Snake. I guess Raiden used an uno reverse card.

Snake is just too much of a favourite. But Snake has always bet on Raiden being a badass and Raiden delivered. We all loved them both now. And with his Rivals and all, much like Snakes' enemies.

Metal Gear Rising was one of my favourite Games of all time. I'm glad you covered it and actually gave Raiden the credit he deserves. He's a badass through and through.
Over course. I originally hated the dude. But after doing more research on him thanks to this video I now have more respect for him.
Yeah. People usually initially hate the characters that are openly Angsty and Emo.
But I personally like those kinds of characters. Call me an edgelord , but I love those characters. :P
Yeah people hated Raiden duo to him being the protagonist in MGS2 and not Snake. Now people love Raidens badass character.
Just like how people hated Nero from DMC4 because Dante wasnt the protagonist. Now Nero is loved by people in the upcoming DMC5 even tho he is the protagonist in DMC5.
Slowly people get more attached and connected even tho at first sight they hate the character.
It's always when they introduce new protagonists man. Especially of those protagonists are openly edgy and emo. Everyone seems to hate those characters. I personally love 'em.

You also kind of skipped over an detail about Sam and Raidens relationship. Sam was technically a cyborg but only technically. The only cybernetic component of Sam was his his right arm. His "cyborg body" was actually more like an exosuit and still didn't do much for him. He was able to keep up with Raiden without being half robot.
And then he dies
At one point he fights with his bare hands

Also, his only enhancement that he has (his new arm after Armstrong cut off his whole one) actually is the reason his sword can be knocked out of his hand and weakens him, meaning his enhancement that gives superhuman powers made him WEAKER.

WHAT?! Are you gonna forget Raiden turning back into Jack The Ripper when fighting Monsoon! That is one of the most important thing to happen in Metal Gear Revengeance! And don’t say it wasn’t important because if it wasn’t for him turning back into Jack The Ripper he wouldn’t have beat certain characters in the game. Kinda disappointing but good job on the video.
Jack The Ripper mode is pretty cool, but he can win every single battle without it. Because um ... I'm good at the game and don't need it?

After the events of Metal Gear Solid 2, its been assumed that Raiden went out to find and save Sunny from the Patriots as he wanted to keep Olga's dying wish.
I think that in rescuing Sunny, he paid a huge price that resulted in him becoming the Ninja Cyborg he is now.
This should have been mgs5 made by Kojima. This would have been serious and legendary. The story of him saving sunny and his rescue from the Patriots would have been nice.

Fun fact: Metal Gear Rising was close to being a Hideo Kojima game. However, due to problems, Metal Gear Rising was canceled by Kojima production, but was later taken by another group and full finished
Konami really hates Kojima, don’t they?
nope, he made his team "make a Raiden game and do whatever you want" and left. Kojima Productions weren't able to fulfil their ambitions of a fast paced action game so they had to hand it over to Platinum Games with Kojima overseeing the script
It was going to be one of the best MGS games but we still got a good game from Platinum, however compared to the demo we got I'd take that demo and style over what we got. It still felt like another Platinum game

i think the more im interested in the character you're talking about the more i enjoy the video. this one was great. and i understand how complex the Metal Gear series are to explain, i think you did a great job! only thing i'd reccommend is not to worry about the lenght of the video, since you're pretty enjoying to watch, i'd say just make the episode as long as it needs to be .(and i understand that you put a lot of work into these videos but i think that 1 great video a month i better that 4 mediocre videos a month) keep up the great work.

Quick note, they also said in MGS4 that sometime between MGS2 and 4 Raiden and Snake rescued Sunny (Olga's child) from the Patriots.

I mean, Big Boss died, but didn't, but did, but didn't, but did. Zanzibar Land is a crazy place, and Liquid Ocelot isn't real, instead just Revolver Ocelot with a Liquid arm, Kojima likes to insert his massive Snake into our brains and spray his FoxDIE all over it. I love Kojima, no hetero.
