Actually, the Supreme Hunter is not the same as Mercer. There was a point in the game in which Gentek developed a biological parasite, specifically designed to destroy Mercer, and it was injected into him by Cross. Mercer then extracted a sample of the parasite and injected into a hunter in order for it to develop antibodies, so he could consume it and stop the parasite from eating him from the inside. Later, he tried to inject a sample of it into Elizabeth Greene and stop the infection, but her biology rejected it and she regurgitated the mutated monstrosity known as the Supreme Hunter. Since it was slowly eating him before, it has assimilated the virus creating a new strain, which gave the Supreme Hunter most of Mercer's abilities. After being defeated the first time, the Supreme Hunter consumed Robert Cross, took his identity, and then proceeded to manipulate Mercer to pressure Blackwatch into nuking Manhattan. Knowing that Mercer could survive the blast, the Supreme Hunter aimed to consume Mercer when the nuke was deployed in order to survive and trick Blackwatch into believing that the infection was cleansed. So, basically, the Supreme Hunter is the parasite mutated by both the Redlight and Blacklight viruses. And it is possible that it has survived the final battle...

Thats how hè managed to kill a runner on his own and go 1 on 1 with mercer and survive. Right after his birth randall took him in and raised him at blackwatch but randall was too naive to think that cross was his bioweapon to use but instead was waiting for the right moment to escape, wich mercer gave him the right moment and hè started to make all the cellphones around the City. Also the fact that viral scanners didnt go off on him while glowing white drawsback to the cutscene where they said that pariah tested negative for all viruses thus meaning that scanners wont work on him
Seriously, the Prototype series is underated. Its the ultimate horror power fantasy. I like Alex for coming to realize his life is a lie, and James for not really giving a shit about anything but revenge. These games are essentially what would happen if they made a venom only video-game. But with no spiderman, no symbiotes, just a virus. While its story is simplistic yhe actions taken are really dark and disturbing at times. I love the memory cutscenes in the game too, they’re small but add alot of detail to the world.

Blackwatch would have been SHIELD, Dana is Mary Jane, Greene is Carnage-Spider, Mercer's ex is Anne, and the Supreme Hunter would have been Carnage pretending to be Nick Fury. Same development team. Shapeshifting weapons would make Eddie look like Venom but you'd have the option to turn back, consuming people would allow you to turn into them just like Mercer.

Prototype 3 has to happen. I love the world that this game’s set in. Govt. conspiracies, crazy mutated people and monsters, bio weapons gone horribly wrong, super soldiers, this game series has it all. There are still so many stories to tell, like Pariah’s current status, and I hope that some developers are listening to this. Also, Alex’s armored form is SO BADASS in both Prototype and Prototype 2. It reminds me of something that u would see in Warframe.
You actually forgot one detail on how he(Alex) regenerated after getting caught up in the explosion. Turns out, the crow stood on Alex's blood and then he connected it to the crow, consuming the crow in order to regenerate.

My theory is mercer made a copy of himself and in the 3rd game the real mercer would find out what happened to his copy. or one of the evolved took his form to be used as a body double. I was never a fan of Prototype 2, the story and characters felt more like they just had to make the game just to make it. Making Mercer the main enemy was, more likely than not, because they could not come up with another boss or justifiably motivated villain and decided to have him repeat the same thing as the original Mercer by releasing the virus to solve a problem. He could have easily taken out Blackwatch 'used' scientists from Gentek to fabricate an actual cure for Blacklight, had it distributed to make people believe that the threat was over and gone on about his day killing people he deemed evil. This makes sense when you take into account that the strain that makes up his body was more evolved than the regular strain so an antidote made for the base virus would have little to no effect on him. Instead we get a contrived, half baked soap opera with everyone having the logic of a Saturday morning cartoon cast and the emotional impact of the bit of splashback when you take a dump. Having a different protagonist I can agree with regardless of race, age or gender in a game where you can literally become someone else, but when you apply lazy writing with a check list of tropes and cliches to put in just because you are starved for ideas then you need to rethink what you are doing.

I used to love spreading the infection with those red barrels that contained the virus in Prototype 2. I just chuck that shit in the middle of a massive crowd and watch the chaos ensue. Kinda wish that was an ability in the games, spreading the virus like Mercer does in the cutscene.
