Yes that is a harmonica, and I love both Johnny Rivers version and Mr. Charley Pride's version!!!!!! I admire both of these men more than you could ever know !!!!!!!!
Johnny Rivers was such a great singer and songwriter
It went from a mountain of love to bullsh*t mountain. Yes he's playing the harmonica. The hurt is REAL. Not every sad song has to be slow
I love seeing someone appreciate Johnny Rivers' music.
That backing band tho!!!!!
It's The Wrecking Crew
You have admit Johnny has a killer voice.
I love how you love Johnny Rivers! Johnny is one of my favorite artists!
It has a true late 60s hippie vibe in "Summer Rain" my favourite Johnny Rivers song.
Love both songs by Johnny Rivers and your reaction to these are priceless! Thank you!
"our love is burning like fire" classic! Johnny is in his 70's now and rocks on.
Johnny rivers. The best. Everything he did he put 100'percent in. Yes it's a harmonica.
I don’t know which singer from the sixties is more underrated and under appreciated Johnny Rivers or Gary Puckett. Both men were sorry are incredibl e And as of 2020 pre corona still out there performing. Thanks India stay beautiful and oh so awesome!!!!!!!
Charley Pride does an awesome cover of Mountain of Love
My dad could sing this n played guitar. My favorite memories were my father's voice n his guitars. He was a star in country blues in the South. From Spokane Wa. To Tennessee near Memphis he recorded at 50 years n I have his tapes. RIP Dad.
It was so long ago but music and special songs can put you back to yesterday, just yesterday. Johnny Rivers was sooo good, yet unique. He had many great hits.
Loved this song when it came out. I just sang it at a party a couple of years ago. Thanks for the reaction, India!
Love Johnny Rivers always have and always will, I think he’s amazing
Loved both Mountain of Love and Summer Rain. Johnny Rivers was very underated in the 60s. He had big hits but it at the time of the Beatles, Beach Boys and Motown
Songs like Summer Rain were sensitive as many men were forced into the Vietnam War with no one knowing who would be drafted next. The fear was palpable.
I've been waiting for reaction to this artist for so long. Thanks immensely.
You might also like Charlie Pride's cover of Mountain of Love.
Summer Rain- 1967- I was 16 years old and learning what love was all about. I guess this song contributed to my understanding of it and whenever I hear it I rediscover a little piece of my soul.
Johnny Rivers is wonderful
Love Johnny my favorite Summer rain and under your spell again. Johnny is also eye candy so handsome
My two fave by him
The horns and strings are amazing in "Summer Rain"! And they were played by people, not machines!
Summer rain is one of my all-time favorites, reminds me of my favorite summer growing up when I used to hear it all the time.
Love love love summer rain I just love the orchestra that's what make the whole song!!
Omg yes! ♥️🙏
Yes!!! Summer rain one of many great hits. He and Sam Cook did it for Me in the 60s.
Oh yes, Summer Rain! Mountain of Love too!🎵🎶🎸❤
Glad to hear Johnny back in the spotlight. One of the greats in my book
Mountain of Love has to be the most upbeat sad song ever! Summer Rain reminds me of Let's Live For Today by The Grass Roots. India you should react to them. No one else is yet and they've got a ton of great hits! Sooner or Later, Midnight Confessions, Temptation Eyes, Two Divided By Love, Heaven Knows.
The grassroots is my favorite band, and I'm only 46. My dad had the best taste in music
Great group
@@lynncantrell5502 The Grassroots were on every little transistor radio I served during Vietnam and they were always one we listened to. I do know they had 29 #1 hits maybe more. Went in the Womens Army Corp day after I turned 18. All these songs meant something to every one of us. I was a Medical Specialist so saw a lot. These songs were our tape to hold it together.
@@mariesmith599 you are so correct about the Grass Roots. Still one of My faves. 69 music evokes a lot of mems, some good, some not so much. I know You were in the ARMY, Semper Fi anyway.
My two favorite Johnny Rivers songs. Love your reactions to them!
He has so many hits. I am glad you got a sample of how the music on Realization (Summer Rain) differs from his early stuff. Completely different vibe. That album is packed with great music.
I think it’s hard for someone that wasn’t there when this song was new , I remember doing so many things with these songs being the soundtrack of my life. Easy for anyone to appreciate the song especially with its haunting arrangement and Johnny’s smooth voice. I watch tons of your reactions and enjoy very much!
Yes, harmonica.
Baby I need your loving is a good one!
“Summer Rain” 1967 high school, first love. Even just hearing the very beginning brings me back to that time. Thank you Johnny Rivers and thank you India for listening. So glad you like him. I like Mountain of Love also, that harmonica. I remember every word of his songs. He has so many great ones.
Brings something to keep joy in people’s soul! Love his music and moments back to life!!!
India, I'm glad you noticed the excellent quality of the background vocals. Everything is great on "Mountain of Love."
I'm sure that's The Blossoms singing background, including Darlene Love..
@@hockaday2fer2 You bet it is! Aren't they wonderful!?
Johnny Rivers Realization album is one of my all time favorites❤️❤️❤️
My daddy always played a Johnny Rivers cassette tape in the car growing up
Lucky you! I asked my dad to buy the “Seventh Son” 45, but he never did
That's a harmonica. Just love that sound.
If you like the Harmonica, try listening to Little Walter, " Duke" it's brilliant!
My parents had the 45 single record and I wore it out on a Sears turntable. Great time to be alive..
Listened to Johnny a lot on the radio as a young man always one of my favorites
The original radio single version of "Summer Rain" had MUCH lounder "Beatlesque guitar" on the Sgt. Pepper verses.
You go girl 💪! I love the way you listen so closely to all the words. ❤️
“Summer Rain” evokes so many emotions inside but I always come back for the torture.
i was born in 1955 and his stuff was on the radio for 2 decades regularly, he is in my top few artists of all time!
I wondered when you'd find Johnny Rivers. One of my favorites way back when. My favorite of his Midnight Special. He was definitely unique
i always liked Slow Dancin' by him the best
It is a harmonic, he plays that too! He’s so musically talented!
Song by Harold Dorman, 1959. Hit for Charley Pride and Johnny Rivers, now almost a country standard. Always been a Johnny Rivers fan. And, yeah, I saw the stank-face come on during Summer Rain. That's a rockin' upbeat ballad - and not many of them around!
Summer Rain is my favorite of his but he made every performance his own. Underrated in my opinion.
Mountain Of Love from his In Action album Summer Rain, his final chart topping 1960's hit from the Realization album issued 1965:and 1968. backing on the first by Darlene Love and The Blossoms.
Yes, it was a harmonica, he had the looks, the voice, he was fiiiiine
Two other gems by him Slow dancing swaying to the music and Rockin pneumonia and the boogie woogie flu
Summer Rain is my all time favorite song!
Just love "Summer Rain."
Slow Dancing, Swayin' to the Music. I used to sing that in my wife's ear when we were dating and out on the dance floor. Been together for 40 yrs , must've worked :)
Lovely reaction, would love to see you do "Baby I need your lovin" by him.
Agreed!
Greg Schafer the one from the sixties with go go dancers behind him!
@@Cardoo46 That is such a great video
Ohhh that’s a great one too, and “Memphis.”
Two great songs from one of the most underrated 60’s pop-stars. Summer rain is an amazing arrangement and big sound.
India, you are absolutely right. That sound is a blues style harmonica, often referred to as a blues harp. Good catch!
I'm sooooo glad that you are doing "Summer Rain"!!!!!
Baby i need your lovin----this should be your next johnny rivers!!!
Many other artists probably would have done this as a slower ballad like song and it would have gone unnoticed. The up tempo beat used by Johnny is what made it brilliant and a hit.
Really. really nice song. One of my favorites. Johnny did a very good version. There is also an original version of Mountain of Love by Harold Dorman. It grooves a bit less, and has a more Country & Western sound.
Did a Google search.. I think he released this on 1964.... Charlie Pride also had a very successful and Awesome rendition that was released in 1982... It was Charlie's version I heard first...
"Memphis, Tennessee" by Johnny Rivers.
lllexoduslll A GOOD one👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love Jonny Rivers YOU LOST THAT LOVING FEELING, girl you will love
Johnny Rivers rocks another great reaction would you do a song by Johnny Rivers for me because my all-time favorite song by him is The Rockin pneumonia and Boogie Woogie flu it is an awesome song
I haven't heard a Johnny Rivers song I didn't like.
I first heard one of his first songs on the radio when I was about 9 or ten years old.Short songs with meanimgful lyrics.
His voice captivates me.
Nice song arrangements also.I'm 65 and still listening.
That instrument dare you heard is definitely a harmonica and that's one of the best harmonica licks I've heard in any song there's a few that's got better harmonic and I'm but that's absolutely right up there with the best love it.
Johnny Rivers is from Baton Rouge. He sold over 25 million records. Had some good songs and is a very good singer!
Great singer an guitarist, check out poor side of town great song!
Johnny Rivers 'Look to your soul, The way we live, By the time I get to phoenix & Baby I need your loving,'
Two great songs and reactions. You got to play his Slow Dancing, Swaying to the Music which IMHO is one of the best songs to slow dance to. Herb Alpert This Guy's in Love with You is another you need to play.
* India, real nice reacts to 2 classic Johnny Rivers hit songs. If you think about the final verse of "Summer Rain," with the snow and north wind ... I think he's saying they did go to live together in the Rocky Mountains. The repeated phrase "let tomorrow be" -- along with the constant downward movement of the violins, suggests to me that things won't always be pretty and perfect, but we'll see the years through.
* After you reacted to "Mountain Of Love" and it faded away, I spontaneously said to myself, "Yeah, man. She's gone." WOAH! Perfect! Daryl Hall & John Oates, singing John's soulful urban hit song from 1973, SHE'S GONE. "Ohhh-why ...? Ohhh-why ... ? I better learn how to take it ..."
Summer Rain is one of my favorites!
Rivers was born in New York, but grew up in Mississippi, and Mountain of Love is sounds of swamp blues.
Johnny Rivers was so smooth!
Any thing by Johnny Rivers, you can't go wrong . Like all his songs.
Summer Rain is a very pretty song such a nice reaction
Johnny Rivers was a great story teller wasn't he? Song writers knew how to communicate a lot in 3 and a half minutes back then
Still is !
Lovely reaction and always loved this 60s song
The answer is yes..that was a Harmonica on the mountain of love song..
Awfully long time since I've heard either of these song.
Thanks for the memory.
Yes it's a Harmonica and Johnny is playing it!
Love Johnny Rivers.. For some more Native American artist please give Redbone a listen
Positively Fourth Street also off of Realization was Dylan's favorite version of that song.
Sweet Sweet 🎆🎇🧨
India I think you're loving Johnny Rivers like I do.
He is still good looking but he looks so different now.
I thought he was a native of Louisiana ,because of the accent, but I found out he was born in New York and his family moved to Baton Rouge La.when he was a child.
He made so many great songs.
Check out his version of "Whiter shade of Pale"it sounds beautiful."Summer Rain "is such a sweet song.
That was AMAZING! Now do one called “Memphis.” You won’t be disappointed, you might cry though.
You put a huge smile on my face....makes me happy.
Love your expression when you hear these songs, & I love these songs also. Don't usually subscribe to UA-cam channels but really enjoy yours! & going to send a few songs requests you may enjoy
Always look forward to seeing your latest hairstyle
The blue was very complimentary, pretty. 👍
Please do summer rain. I love this music by Johnny Rivers. (Sorry I reacted before the 2nd song.)
Of the two songs, “summer rain” was my favorite. Enjoyed your recaps!
Good stuff. More Johnny Rivers please.
slow dancin' by him - - - oh my what a song !!!
I have only seen one other reaction to this song - I know you will love it !
Great song I love Jonny rivers❤❤🎉😅
Hard to go wrong with Johnny Rivers. Amazing! Happy Friday India. The section that's "up tempo" is a few cords from St. Pepper Lonely Heart Club Band by the Beetles.
India, Johnny Rivers reactions are great.. Please do "God Only Knows" or "Caroline No" off the the Best LP next to Sgt Peppers by Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys (Rolling Stone 100 Top Records)
So glad you’re hitting on all my favs. Need to still check out The Tammys tune Egyptian Shumba and Lou Christie’s Rhapsody in the Rain and The Gypsy Cried.
Mountain of LOve by CHarlie Pride is a good country version of this.
Johnny Rivers Slow dancing , Could be his best song.
