There is absolute gold in this video.
We forget how good a coach Leadbetter was back in the day.
Good luck. Nobody swings like this that can break 90. Even Leadbetter said he created the A swing, now defunct, because amateurs couldn't "turn to the top". Faldo is 6'4, 245 and hits it 245.
Quality. Gold. This stuff never dates, it just comes around again... and again... and again... 😉👍🙏
Thanks David, i've been learnt from your VCD long long ago...early 2000., That i bought at proshop at Jakarta. Now it is available on UA-cam, it much easier to learn now on. Again Thanks a lot for this post. Peace from Bali👍❤️🙏
Wow. Why haven't I watched this before. Great teacher. Thank you so much
Incredibly instructive. I read the A-swing (by David Leadbetter) and found this Gem! Thanks a lot!
Thank you for posting this.
These drills won Nick Faldo six majors and Nick price 3. All the content of the lessons with the pivot being central to everything is a great way to teach the golf swing. The golf swing is all about rotation. But that initial lateral movement starts the chain of movements
John blagg
How did he swing?
Didn't play for a year, but I am glad I found this in youtube..thanks David!
Thank you David
This video blew my mind... I have taken David’s key points and applied them to my swing now and I and hitting the ball further with better balance and less stress . How do I pay the man? 😅😂
David: How high is your handicap Bill?
Bill: Higher than your pants David.
😂😂😂
😂.
Thanks!
Great video! Some people are critical that can't do other who can express appreciation!
Brilliant strategy for teaching. Make the technique so complicated it takes hundreds of lessons to learn all the drills, making it harder for the student to leave after having invested so much time and money.
That is so wrong on multiple levels.
No way this is from 2005. This has pure 80s if not early 90s written all over it. Anyone?
This cannot be past 1999. He said video tape!
Early 90’s. I owned the tapes. There was another one about taking it to the course. Great video.
1990 tape
Awesome!!!
Straight roasting Bill for the first 15 min 😂
Thank you from a mature lady golfer from South Africa 🇿🇦 a fascinating practice sequence. I will be doing this a lot
Love David Leadbetter. Although I can’t shake the suspicion that Bill might be a ringer 😂
Bill is what we call: a 'ringer'!!!
WARNING: Although David has coached many Major champions, keep in mind that Faldo hit 1500 balls a day. This swing requires a ton of maintenance as it is far more complicated than your average swing. I no longer have the time, bought "Golf My Way" and enjoy a low single digit handicap with far less practice time. Plus I picked up 25 yards off the tee. Enjoy!
And then came the A swing. I wonder what made Leadbetter move the shallowing out to the downswing vs where we see the best players do it (late in the backswing for Hogan etc)?
The new era is all about distance. Until they get to links golf and they miss the cut.
This won't give you any distance. Why do you think Lydia Ko fired him?
Newbie here - making every attempt to get a good swing so I don't have to unlearn bad habits.
Very wise, Donna!
chào ngài . ngài hãy cho dịch ra nhiều thứ tiếng khác nhau . để cộng đồng mạng các nước trên thế giới học hỏi hiểu được bài tập golf này được không ?
how this was playing when I came back from lessons
I really don´t understand why you say (2005) in the headline.
This must be older than that, isn't it?! 1992-1995 or something similar?! (Still good advise...) Just wondering of my memory is slipping or not?!!
i bought this vhs in 1998 if that helps. Quit playing for 12 years and starting back. This is a proven method
It's most definitely 10 years older than 2005. Look at how young David looks and the graphics of the video.
@@buzzcrushtrendkill I believe was filmed in 1989 and released for sale in 1990.
Subscribed!
How high are those pants!
Somethings tells me Bill's first swing was somewhat... contrived, shall we say.. ;-) lol
lol
100% those FJ classics are a dead giveaway
Yeah, I heard this guy was a local club pro
Great video! All the negative comments are just so petty!!!
I agree, I am 77, could never make a solid turn. Now I can with no effort
I`ve been playing golf for around twenty years, struggling to break Ninety. 3-4 years ago, I couldn’t get an outstanding round but that was just before I read through the golf swing techniques. My irons aren`t that great. My drive does not attain a terrific distance but I am able to effectively grip my driver without any problem. I found this guidebook on Google. Name is Logan Ballοyshot
Take care

As a former golf instructor and knowing most of the golf swing, I can tell that Bill is initially nowhere near as bad as the video purports. Why? Because the questions he asks and the comments he says during the lesson all indicate that he knows very well the golf swing; a true beginner would never ask those types of questions or make those comments. I suspect that Bill is one of David's instructors at the Academy.
He plays off 9, in reality.
He probably has 4 majors by now. Great swing.
He played at Stanford
Stepped into a time machine
Can't believe this guy played off 15, then two day's later he is swinging like a pro, just goes too show how good a teacher can do for you, as his new swing and his old swing was like chalk and cheese! Well done Bill!
he was never off 15 ,
2 marker lol
because it's a complete set up....duh???lol
Maybe we're just stupid. lol. I have taken golf lessons and do not have that NICE swing mastered yet... but getting closer. If its a fake video that's regrettable.
Not regrettable... the executed instructions should be performed so that you have a Model. imagine that all is erroneous... no benefit for the viewer. Now we have someone to copy. Educational
He was on the Stanford golf team when they made the video. Bill was a +1 when they made this. I met him at Augusta.
Wish I had him as an instructor. He follows Dr. Kwon to a T
Really cool
Thank you
Golf is so hard
No way could I ever learn like this...beach balls, shafts all over the place, slow moving.....no way
This is fantastic, but that guy is definitely not a 15 handicapper. Seems to be quite good at implementing 10-15 things at once and hits a perfect one-armed 9 iron first try!
I really thought he was going to get hit in the nuts when they did the one handed drill lmao...
When he pulled the pen out I knew this was some next level shit
With an initial swing like that and a handicap of 15 Bill's short game and putting must be faultless. Or did say his handicap is 50? That would be more believable.
15 handicap...i would believe 150

The kid pretending to be a hack at the beginning;)
My thoughts exactly
No way. No way did this guy make so many huge changes in this short time. His initial swing, grip etc… was BS. He’s a ringer. Edit: Got to the end. So his clothes have changed. So these changes occurred over many days. I might buy it now.
Too true mate 👍
The kid played at Stanford
cool vid!
....NO WAY this can be from 2005. unless he's using a film crew that's stuck in the 80s ha ha ha
awesome vid. i like the tempo of it ;)
i think Ben was already a swinger. dude improved MASSIVELY pretty quickly otherwise. :)
that is exactly what I was thinking...2005 we had mp3 and cell phones for god sake
I own this on VHS videocassette. It was filmed in 1990. I have Bill's same driver, a 1990 Taylor Made Burner with a steel shaft.
Fantastic example of a guy that already has a textbook swing doing everything wrong on purpouse and then going from a bad swing to a perfect swing in a few weeks.
It's nice to watch, but it's fantacy;-)
I know, i would like to see him teach a really shitty golfer like myself lol
no it's not fantacy, it's fantasy.
topneorej I've seen this guy on other Ledbetter videos and he had a 10 handicap that time lol

I have been teaching golf for 20 years and I have literally never seen an amateur with a high finish. I have seen Ben Hogan, Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus with extremely high finishes but never ever an amateur.
Do you mean before or after you teach them?
@@jacobr4558 LMAO!!! I would recommend you just watch them swing wonder boy
@@TheSeer101 watch who swing? The pros or your students? Not sure what you mean.
@@jacobr4558 Haha you idiot! Hogan, Tiger and Nicklaus you oxygen thief
@@TheSeer101 You sound like a pretty good teacher.
1. You know nothing about me or my swing.
2. You specifically said that you NEVER see amateurs finish high.
3. You are calling me names for no reason.
People like you are the reason I taught myself. Sounds like your technical skill is limited, your attitude is cruel, and don't seem like you know how to listen or appreciate individuals with differing points of view.
Sorry, great video, but no way did the student improve dramatically in one lesson!!!
Ww w
No no.
i find it very hard to believe the swing the guy made at the beginning is a 15 handicap playing for 5 years 2 days a week. Impossible. He wasn't even hitting slightly straight!
It's all clearly a setup
Crap swing no way a 15 handicap swinging for video cobblers
This is so fake.
I think you need to teach yourself how to wear your pants, David. Those are to effing high
Good coach and one of the best in the World but that guys swing to start looked so much like he was asked to swing bad.
Definitely not his real swing.
David you know ...zzzzzzzzzzzz
His theory was collapsed long times ago.
Bill can't be a real golfer, can he? Dude's swing is awful. WTF?
Think "What would Iron Byron do?" The student started off all wrong and with numerous adjustments just got worse. Lee Trevino, Jim Furyk etc. all had swings that defied conventional teaching but they got to impact properly. The body learns what you teach it from the git go. Practicing the wrong things is a recipe for poor performance and dissatisfaction. Making adjustments to get back to a non-efficient but doable swing is a lot of hard work. Why don't we just hit the ball like "Iron Byron"? Wouldn't that just be simpler, easier and better?
Wow. Why haven't I watched this before. Great teacher. Thank you so much
Incredibly instructive. I read the A-swing (by David Leadbetter) and found this Gem! Thanks a lot!
