Maybe because so many golfers do this. This game is hard and if you’re off the rails from the beginning,it’s difficult to sync up the swing. There will always be some that can get away with this but that is few and far between.
Watched this Tuesday, tested out the move-away today and I felt dialed. This was probably the best instructional video I’ve really seen in terms of simplicity because it’s ground zero for the golf swing and the results spoke for themselves for me.
Makes me wonder, I own the straight away and it has helped tremendously but every one of his videos I the same. Is he pushing the gadget or is a bad takeaway that prevalent? Almost everyone in these videos improves so maybe it’s the latter of the two.
So true. I was tending to bring the club too much inside on the move away but now i move it away more like this, my strikes have improved and more consistent 👍
I had the chance to meet him at one of the golfzon grand openings the other day, and won the straight away , I worked with it at the range , and can say swing felt different just about every shot was center of the face . so hoping to improve and get my handicap down to mid 5's
Three years ago while living in Lakewood Ranch, FL I ended up in line behind David while checking out at the grocery store. He drove off in a sweet Escalade. I should have asked for some tips.
9:24 ..."now just complete your backswing" And this is where every coach I’ve watched falls down including you Leadbetter. You NEVER say how quickly you can bring the clubhead inside after the "move away" and HOW you "just complete your backswing"
Can tell by the placement of the club face....that your backswing is a bit wacky. Gotta hand it to you, though, for bringing in a pro golf coach who will won't sugarcoat the problems with your own swing. You had the openness to do this.....and that is something I few coaches are willing to do.....to learn more about how to play this game well.
Honestly....so many players I know or see....have bad backswings....resulting in problematic downswings...and especially with longer clubs and driver. Wedges and shorter irons are always a bit more forgiving, esp if not swinging too hard.
This is the A swing with his swing aid, all you need to do/remember is to keep the clubhead outside the hands the entire time during the backswing and you'll have it down.
You already know what Leadbetter is going to say. Complete with him adding the same takeaway helper that he is obviously selling as his new gimmick. Laughable.
Leadbetter is one the people responsible for misleading a generation of golfers. You cannot teach golf through positions. You can fine tune a pro like that, but he has done harm to so many amateur golfers.
The take away is not the most important part lol he's old skool and its clear you can take away the club in 100's of different ways and get the same results.
Impact is the most important position, obviously, but the takeaway is a close second. Among pros, they may not all have the same backswing, but they all have a few things in common during the takeaway, such as keeping the face under control and the club head outside the hands. A good takeaway may not guarantee a good shot, but a bad takeaway will absolutely guarantee a bad shot, and the better you get at generating momentum in the takeaway, the more automatic the backswing becomes. He’s definitely old school, but I think most modern coaches would still agree with him when it comes to the start of the golf swing.
Actually, there is merit to what he says. In figure skating or gymnastics, you stick the landing with the takeoff. Jack Nicklaus said that in the first part of the takeaway he knew whether the swing was spot on or not.
Nick Faldo, Moe Norman put a lot of emphasis on the first move too. Impact is not the most important thing. Why? Because you should not try to hit the ball, that will make you chose the ball as the target of your swing, while the entire swing is the task and the ball should be a coincidence ( paraphrasing Percy Boomer, On Learning Golf, 1941)
@@wordclouds2906 yeah that’s a great story but the take away is still not the most important part. Trackman and video has clearly proven that. Moe Norman was autistic and didn’t know wtf he was talkin about half the time. The epitome of feel is not real.
@@nunyo7259 Sure, sure, I never said it was, neither do i know much about Leadbetter. I would respond that you play by feel and not by trackman or video - meaning: whatever those show, while helpful, has to be translated back into feel. For me Percy Boomer is the most insightful source - a terrific read, I assure you.
If I have watched one of these lessons I have watched them all. Ledbetter has given this lesson to about 100 golf creators over the last year.
And I bet you still cant take the club back like he wants you to.
@@hansidelk6604not without Leadbetter's gadget he won't. 😂
It's the only lesson he's giving these days until sales of the straight away are exhausted and he develops a new gadget. 🙄

@@jeffreylarkin5487 he will be at the pga show this year doing it again. Buy his stuff. 11 months later.

As soon as I seen the thumbnail, I knew it was time for Dave to pimp out his little gadget!
Makes me wonder, I own the straight away and it has helped tremendously but every one of his videos I the same. Is he pushing the gadget or is a bad takeaway that prevalent? Almost everyone in these videos improves so maybe it’s the latter of the two.
He has such a consistent approach. Makes the swing feel much easier when you can just fix the first couple of feet.
I've been doing this drill and it is a game changer for me.. I'm more consistent especially on my approach shots a lot more birdy opportunities..
I appreciate this content way more the equipment reviews. not the arrow, but the archer.

Great tips

This dude has my golf swing. I need to work on this move
I have this same issue with my swing, thanks for sharing. Does Mr. Ledbetter sell the golf attachment?
I would really listen to David Leadbetter because he would know.
Swing for fun,fun is fit, golf are best
Where do you purchase that Golfing aid that fits on the shaft and shows you the proper move away path?
Performance Golf
Does this work with the driver to?
Yes
Known on the Tour as David Leadpoison!
David “ Takeaway” Leadbetter
Eastwood of golf teaching

I really wish I learned this 50 years ago. It feels like the club just falls into place.

Imagine david leadbetter teaching a kid who is new to golf? He’d have them twisted like a pretzel and unable to move.
Maybe why moe norman starts with the club 1 ft behind
That’s exactly why. But I think I need to actually do that cause my back is messed up flat.
Mr ledbetter has (by name) led better golfers to victory,
those who can..DO those who can`t ,,,,criticise
Unless you criticize and have the game to back it up?!?!?!
JESUS leadbetter is still the KiNg !!!
Don’t ever disrespect Jesus like that to a scammer.
Wait a minute what happened to the A swing?

He literally only teaches the takeaway. Every video he teaches the exact same move shilling his exact same gadget.
Fine, but you can’t deny that the back swing is the big problem for most golfers
No pro is swinging with that much of a “shallowness”.
infomercial

Even the LPGA gave up on Bedwetter's terrible teachings - he ruins golfers.
I used to use his A swing way back in the mid 90's and it's great for full shots but get inside a hundred yards it's a disaster.
Leadbetter changes philosophy every few years. He's a marketer. Remember the "A-Swing"? - he's been spewin hogwash for 30 years.
He is a great promoter I mean salesman isn't he!
A shame. Leadbetter is back only selling his golf aid. Good stuff but have seen it 5 times know.

One of the most useless golf gimmicks in the entire golf world😂
