I once went to a thrift store that was also once a house, and they did the most brilliant thing! Upstairs was all women's clothes and 3 former bedrooms. The first room was all size small clothes, the second room, all size medium, and the third room was all size large and larger!!! It made shopping SO much easier, and the generous sized bathroom was made over into a lovely changing room!! 10 out of 10!!!

Also, if you’ve never been to Traders World near Mason I highly suggest in a few weeks when it starts to warm up more. It’s a gold mine of antiques and vintage stuff at the outdoor booths. Can we talk about the audacity for an average 80’s sweater to be (originally) priced at 48 in a random dusty midwestern ghost sorority house 😭💀 that’s a stretch even for here in Brooklyn. This is the kind of thing that gets me down about the surge in popularity of thrifting, people especially larger organizations think they have the right to charge whatever because they see the virality when they’re probably not even cleaning/mending let alone adding retail value to garments. It gives all of us that are subsistence collectors/sellers who survive off this and actually care (by upping the *value* not just the price) a bad name 🥲
As a kid who grew up in rural Southeastern Kentucky, Cincinnati was amazing and I moved there as soon as I could lol. I guess what is exciting or appealing is all relative to what you've got around.
The Japanese necklace with the white jumper at the end there is a great combination. Personally, I wouldn't wear another necklace with it to protect it. That's one you could still rock in your last days.
That little cream satin thing you found in the first store is for packing your jewelry for travel. The thing in the middle unfastens on one end and you slide your rings on it.

I am born and raised in Cincinnati and also an avid thrifter. You went to some of the best thrift stores. The Mew to You is a hidden gem that I don’t think many people know about. But they have the best vintage selection. St Vinny’s is the best set of thrift stores in Cincinnati. You went to the main location and the outlets. Both fun times and different experiences. Next time you come, go to the St Vinny’s on the west side of those are the 2 best locations with the best selection. St Vincent does amazing work around the city as well. They help to furnish homes who can’t afford to. They have a great mattress program to help people get beds. They have a food bank downtown. Would love to run into you in the area.
The *Ohio Valley* Antique Mall is huge, each booth is priced by the seller so some sections/rooms are generously cheap especially the sellers who sell books and comics. They even sell vintage gas station/bar decor lol if you ever find yourself in the area I recommend taking a look, just looking at everything is really fun fr

First time watcher. You're fun. I'm up on the edge of Amish country near Massillon. Lots of antique markets and thrifts all of the way up here just off the highways. If you make it up here there is a lot of cool history.

You popped up and i also live in Ohio..Not far from Cincinnati actually, now i feel the need to find that thrift store..lol..Thanks for sharing and hope you have a great week
Wow, that dress on you is Fabulous! I love the two necklaces together! My Grandma took me to the Portland OR Goodwill when I was 8 and I got a 1920-30s cookbook. That got me started on thrifting and baking!
I bought pear inc for my scent for 2014 and I cannot stop using it!!! If you continuously spray this on clothing (like a coat) the dry down on it is soooo delicious and juicy. I think fruit scents are trending this year because I’ve also seen a lot of lychee perfumes come out.
@@KathleenIllustrated- many use “It’s Not A Perfume” as a base cos it makes your fragrance last longer. I want to say it’s mostly ambroxan which people buy specifically for doing this. Oh & at TJ Maxx & Marshall’s you can often find JHAG frag for a steal! Sadly my skin eats frag & even tho I love their scents they don’t last on me whatever way I try😕. Jet 😘🧡
@@michellebyrom6551 - I’ve done that, helps a little but doesn’t last unless I use an “extrait” which is maybe 20% alcohol unlike most parfum which is mostly alcohol. Kathleen, I recently discovered your channel and I need you to know you’re filling the hole that jenna marbles left in my heart. I love your content. Always happy to find another louie zong fan :)
Never been the first spot but that huge sprawling St Vincent is my fave place and love their VHS selection…almost all of them are .25! Christmas and seasonal decor is incredible there. Amazing!
If you are ever in the Chicago area, there is a thrift store in Oak Park that is in a house. Reminds me of the one you went to. It's called The Economy Shop. You have to check the calendar to make sure they're open before you go. They're only open a few days a month and completely closed in the summer. It's totally run by volunteers who take the time to curate each of the "departments" with love. The knitting/sewing/crafting room is very small but packed with wonderful things.
If you're ever in Canton, you should check out Majestic Turnaround. Vintage mall inside of an old bowling alley. I HAVE spent an entire day in there. And Walkie Talkie is a great coffee shop down the road :)
Kathleen!!! If you go back to Japan I found the CUTEST vintage shop in Nara WITH ACTUAL VINTAGE JAPANESE CLOTHING 🖤 the shop is called “Spark” and all I could think about was you! Love you and your vids 🫶🖤
As a fellow Ohio thrift store hunter, another fun gem for a road trip is Madame Rosie's Boutique in Marblehead, OH. A quaint, lakeside thrift store with the COOLEST vintage finds. And the owner is an artist, she sells and hangs up her art. 10/10 recommend for thrift shopping and window shopping.
When you were showing the flower vase, I reminded myself to look for a cute vase, and then you said it was handmade in Poland!? Like what? I'm from Poland! 🥹🤩 need to find this style of vases. Love you!
Stores in houses are my fave! I've found some amazing ones in Utah, Colorado and Nevada in old houses and they are always so fun. Plus I always end up scoring at least one cool thing.
My addition to the “characters that scared you as a child” tournament has gotta be the Rat guy from Psalty the Singing Songbook.. truely horrifying for my developing brain, many nightmares featured him🥴😂💀
I live very close to New to You. Funny to see it in a video of yours! St. Vincent and Flamingo Haven are my favorites in the area. Glad they made it into your visit
Hello fellow buckeye!! We love some thrift stores. My favorites in the Cincinnati area are "That shop in Milford" and "Riverside Antique Mall". Both are absolutely amazing, and have a wonderful vibe.
I just found you. I live in Lima, two hours from Cincy. Maybe you already know, but Wapakoneta has a few thrift/antique stores that are fun to look through. At this point in my life, I like looking through the stores to see things I remember from my childhood.
The little silk bag thing is a travel jewelry holder/bag. So rings go on the long bit in the middle and it poppers on and off to take the rings off. :)
The thrift store at Terrell State Hospital is in an old building and has a bunch of rooms like the thrift store. It looks like that store! It's only open one day a month and the public loves it. I know at least one thrift store owner who buys all the jeans she can get her hands on. She doubles the price (minimum!) And puts them in her store to resell. She is a former employee, and on principle I don't shop in her store. That sounds like a good business practice, but the rest of the people who shop in the TSH store are there because it is what they can afford. It makes me sad that she does that.
I haven’t been to the weirdest thrift store, but I have been to the St. Vincent de Paul. I was very curious about the thrift store that you went to where you got the planter and the other gorgeous things! I’m all about trying new places!
Keep it up with your amazing illustration collages! Those are really cool. Being an Ohio girl myself I appreciate your documentary and the interesting things you found in your travels. It would be cool to see you do some more explorations of Ohio.
didnt think i could be more nostalgically brain blasted than when she panned over to the skyline i miss those chili fries so much!!! I live in washington now, and i am always dreaming of how great the cincy thrift stores are! next time try the salvation army on park ave in norwood~ beautiful old building
Cincinnati will always hold a special place in my heart. Came from IL to deliver my baby with a birth defect at CCHMC. Of course Graeter’s, SkyLine, and Jungle Jim’s are must stop locations …and Dewey’s pizza too
Next time you are in cincy, try going to Pixel Base Alpha Wearhouse. They have a great section of vintage through the decades and also have sweatshirt and tshirt piles. Definitely a must do stop when I go on thrifting trips.
I normally don’t always package opening but you always just love and appreciate things in a special way because you are you ❤ also what a WILD thrift experience
My strangest wall art is a 3 inch deep shadow box that holds an embroidered country cottage with a garden. The box is like a space that allows the light to change and creates a different ambience depending on time of day and location.
If you're around Cincinnati again, the Norwood Salvation Army shop is an interesting one. I haven't been in a long time so I can't say what their stuff is like, but the shop itself is definitely Capital-V-Vintage. They're in the kind of place you definitely won't be able to find unless someone shows you where it is, and the clothes are even in an entirely different entrance not connected to the rest of the place at all.
I just wanted to say over the past couple weeks I’ve fallen down the Kathleen Illustrated UA-cam rabbit hole, and I’m glad to be here! Your videos are so cozy and delightful, I’ve really been enjoying having them on while I crochet. And you’ve definitely inspired me to be much more thoughtful about styling and approaching an outfit through a more considered lens. Thank you for your videos! Also, I would very much enjoy sending you a cool crochet piece to add to your wardrobe if you want one!
Also and maybe as good are Centerville, right down 40 from there and FULL of cool antique stores and a large "mall" of little booths. Also Richmond has a few good ones too. But the two C's are the best.....
If you ever find yourself in SW Indiana, you should check out World Wide Missions in Evansville. It's absolutely massive (roughly the size of one floor of a mall department store) and while it has "departments" where different things are found, there are shelves all around the clothing area where they put various items so you really do have to explore the whole place to find things you might want.
Hi from Poland! OMG i thought I know most of our glass designs and yet I'm not familiar with the vase that you got! Is there any branding? Is it from Huta Krosno perhaps? (I'm more a Huta Ząbkowice gal myself, but maybe someone else recognizes it!)

I think fruit scents are trending this year because I’ve also seen a lot of lychee perfumes come out.
ooo you may be onto something! I luvvvv “not a perfume” as well… kinda the same but without the pear 😂
Jet 😘🧡
@@RnR-Rebelspray your clothes with perfume instead, especially the bits close to your body so the heat gets to it.
@@michellebyrom6551 - I’ve done that, helps a little but doesn’t last unless I use an “extrait” which is maybe 20% alcohol unlike most parfum which is mostly alcohol. Prob w/ that is essential oils can stain your clothes so I have to be very careful! Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it! J. XXX 😘🧡
My favorite secondhand furniture/decor shop in my small town is just in a 100 yr old house, with creaky uneven floors and I love it to pieces!
“Look it’s right here, and I don’t even want it. That’s called personal growth.” And I felt seen.
Kathleen, I recently discovered your channel and I need you to know you’re filling the hole that jenna marbles left in my heart. I love your content. Always happy to find another louie zong fan :)
Thanks for kidnapping us to take along on your adventures. Even if it was very stinky.
Omg, this threw me back.
I found so many random cosplay supplies years ago at that specific thrift store. It's cool to see it still standing.
Ayyy I'm from Cincinnati and def recognized that Goodwill lol
Omg this is bringing me back to my college days at UC! Went to New to you a couple of times and can say there are indeed many ghosts
My heart started to flutter when I saw the base with the frill…..and then the floral dress 🤤 amazing thrifts finds
I've recently found several Ohio centered channels and it's so fun to vaguely recognize the things people are talking about!
Amaizing vídeo!! I’m IN LOVE with the pearl necklace, it’s so precious 😍
Never been the first spot but that huge sprawling St Vincent is my fave place and love their VHS selection…almost all of them are .25! Christmas and seasonal decor is incredible there. Amazing!
Spooky! That doily house kind of reminds me of the thrift mansion with the ghostly feels!! :)
You’re totally right!!!! 💛
7:20 💚cozy🐶💚
11:57 you drill it in water so it don't break
12:57 ✨✨✨
If you are ever in the Chicago area, there is a thrift store in Oak Park that is in a house. Reminds me of the one you went to. It's called The Economy Shop. You have to check the calendar to make sure they're open before you go. They're only open a few days a month and completely closed in the summer. It's totally run by volunteers who take the time to curate each of the "departments" with love. The knitting/sewing/crafting room is very small but packed with wonderful things.
I saw 5 clown dolls in my local Thrift shop today. I thought Kathleen would love these but I bet they’re haunted. 👻Hey stay stinky. ❤
That little satin purse is for your jewellery I think. Your rings go onto that handle thingy. So cute!
If you're ever in Canton, you should check out Majestic Turnaround. Vintage mall inside of an old bowling alley. I HAVE spent an entire day in there. And Walkie Talkie is a great coffee shop down the road :)
Love this!!! Adding it to the list :)
Kathleen!!! If you go back to Japan I found the CUTEST vintage shop in Nara WITH ACTUAL VINTAGE JAPANESE CLOTHING 🖤 the shop is called “Spark” and all I could think about was you! Love you and your vids 🫶🖤
oh my gosh thank you!! adding this to the list!
So beautiful!!! 💘I like the biwako pearls, it looks gorgeous🤩And the necklace fitted the white sweater well! So chic!💗💗💗
Love you!
dawww! How cool! 💕⭐️
Stores in houses are my fave! I've found some amazing ones in Utah, Colorado and Nevada in old houses and they are always so fun. Plus I always end up scoring at least one cool thing.
So jelly of your seersucker gingham robe !!
Girl....I am in Lexington KY. I am always excited to go to Cinci!!!
i perked up when you talked about grannysgirlygoodies because i’ve bought from them at a festival near my hometown!! they are super cool
Gonna have to try out some of those stores next time I'm in Cincy
I haven’t been to the weirdest thrift store, but I have been to the St. Vincent de Paul. I was very curious about the thrift store that you went to where you got the planter and the other gorgeous things! I’m all about trying new places!
New 2 You is definitely one of the best! They have the sweetest staff too. I work next door and pop over a few times a month for the gems haha
It's nice to find someone on here that's showing things in Ohio, since I'm from the Dayton area. And the microphone you use has great sound.
Oh no, not the Quefe beads lmao....That's become an in joke in the Kandi/Decora makers community
The hand gesturing inside the Granny’s Girly Goodies package had me giggling 🤪💕
Remember NVision -- she even had a downstairs! It was next to Comet bar...near Clifton, Ohio....and what about
Chicken Lays an Egg ??
I live in Cincinnati. If I knew you were coming, I would have shown you ALL my favorite thrift and antique malls there!!
Aw!!! Welcome! I really appreciate this & would be honored. There’s absolutely no pressure! ⭐️💕
Have you been to Cambridge City over the Indiana border? It's literally just a town full of antique malls and thrift stores, highly recommend.
Flamingo Haven Antique Mall in Cincinnati is very fun. Not massive in terms of an antique "mall" but they did have a store cat last time I was there.
Ohio Valley Antique Mall on Dixie Highway between Springdale and Hamilton is the BEST in the area IMHO.
you had me at cat
Just saying… my favorite childhood animated crush is totally Astro Boy!!!
How glorious was he?!!???
