The scam: An agent claiming to be from the IRS or "Tax Crime Investigation Department" will call and threaten you with jail or court charges for unpaid taxes. The scammer will attempt to get you to send money immediately through wire transfer or a prepaid card to clear the charges. Absolute scam, the IRS does not operate this way, all these people are scammers.

The point of these calls is to waste their time so they don't scam innocent people. Connecting them to the real IRS would be kind of mean, and would waste the time of people trying to do a real job.

Kinda funny how all these call centers claim to have 100+ employees but then you only connect to the same 5 people and they're all within eye-shot of each other.....

@@bigjon7894 I always call them and pretend that I want to order tshirts or mugs with the irs logo. I ask if they could find some logo golf balls. When I get a female I ask her name, and this is nasty but you have to remember who I'm saying it so, but I'll say that I called yesterday and a guy was staring at her when I called and I asked him if you are pretty and he says when you leave he sniffs the seat of your share. Hilarity then ensues.

I got one of those calls and told them to arrest me, I haven't heard back from them, I'm starting to feel unwanted.

This is an amazing idea. This would be a way to really put a huge dent into those scam operations. Now if only someone could get this going.
You could have a big team of people, around a dozen or so of these all going (while recording of course) , and at the end of the day they go over them and find the funniest ones. Then they edit and upload them, and you've got a (somewhat) automated job as well as a system which is saving people's money by saving them from these scammers.
Mrnat ... I wonder what I'd cost to run a call centre to do this. Somebody run the numbers for me.... I think we might have a kickstarter on our hands. :D

PLEASE continue to do this and post them for all to see!! This is hilarious!!! My dad has been screwed by "card scammers", "romance scammers"...you name it, he's been scammed! He is an older gentleman that has been recently widowed after my mother (his wife) passed in February of this year. So before she passed, he never had a cell phone, never been on the internet, NOTHING. So he doesn't know about the millions of hackers that scam you of all you have. And so far, he's only been scammed of a little of his money, but he cannot seem to realize what is happening. My brother and I tried to explain it, but it hasn't helped. So again, I beg you, PLEASE continue to expose these criminals to keep them from doing these scams, as well as to show people how easy it is to scam people. I want to show him proof of how these scammers work, but you are obviously much more knowledgeable than I am, so maybe I could show him a video that will prove that this scam is just that...a scam. Thank you for all you do, and thank you in advance if you post a video to help me show my father how easily, and how much, these scams work on people. You are great! And I support what you do. So if you can help me in my situation, I would be forever grateful!!

Sadly, I didn't learn of scambaiting till I'd been scammed myself, out of $200. In my defense, I had been having troubles with the IRS but now I realize I fell for it hook, line & sinker. I'm just waiting for the next IRS scammer to call me. My Indian brother-in-law educated me on "benchod", lol, which I called the guy & never heard from him again.
