Still, this works on people all the time. It's unfortunate. But making bad people the butt of a joke feels right. That's why I love these videos. That's what's fun in the comments section afterwards.

I get scammers calling me a lot, I'm not sure why. But several times I've pleaded guilty to what they've accused me of. Most of the time they don't know what to say. Then they hang up.

My dad used to hang out in Hollywood after his divorce with my mom. He'd occasionally do the free tests they give and they'd always be impressed, saying he would be a great auditor and of course offering expensive classes saying, "You don't need them, but they really are helpful either way." Then my dad would say, "Actually I'm a psychologist", and without fail they'd immediately respond with, "That's unfortunate"... and they still try to convince him to take classes. Well I've got to say Scientologists aren't particularly good communicators, because they still call him once in a blue moon, even though he pestered them roughly fifteen years ago. Most recent was they called and left him a message like two years ago. Think of all the times he changed his number in that gap of time. Persistent, I'll give them that. It's been less and less frequent, if it wasn't obvious, but hot damn.
History of Scientology is L Ron Hubbard told the Science Fiction community he was going to start a religion before he wrote Dianetics. He told John W Campbell, Harland Ellison and Issac Asimov. I’m sure he told others. His reason was to make money. Then there was a point he and many of his followers lived on a huge yacht. Life on the ocean is international waters, apparently taxes are far far less. This was greater than 10 years. During this time he had a motorcycle accident and hit his head. This changed him; he is reported to have started believing in his religion . He became insufferable as captain on his boat. Eventually his boy suicides (I think bc the boy was gay and Hubbard was intolerant of homosexuality especially within his religion; there was some ostracism). Hubbard never went anywhere alone after the motorcycle accident.

From a personal perspective after trying the recipes from Edna's Cookbook, I wouldn't recommend any of the Indian dishes. They all have a really salty after taste from them.

I've always been curious, when you offer to pay with your card over the phone they always tell you that you cannot because of some security problem. And they say that you cannot use your debit card either. So do they think that we just walk around casually with 812 $100 in cash all the time to buy gift cards? If you can't pay with your card over the phone then how can you use it at the store to purchase these cards? And if you can't use your card to withdraw cash either then where is this money coming from?

I think the point of that is a tactic to make people think they're giving their details to a "robotic server" not a human. Guess it's supposed to make it seem less like a scam.
They don't want you paying them directly by card because it requires them giving you an account which is traceable & because card payments can usually be refunded if its fraud so they dont get money.
They dont have an issue with people using cards to pay the stores as that doesn't affect them.

I wonder if Kit knew that eventually he'd be spending about 2-4 hours per call with some scammers. Back in the beginning, 20 mins was good, then 2 hours, now he's gone 36 hours (over several weeks) and 24 hours (over several weeks). 2019 was a good year for long calls. Here's to 2020 breaking some records!

Also pretty sure he made it. He's had quite a few streams where he just makes stuff to make the calls more interactive. Example: the radio. He spent 5 hours one stream working on that stuff and people were chipping in their own skits for commercials. Those streams were pretty chill, if I'm honest.

Insist on paying more than a scammer asks for, & tell them it's because you feel very badly about misfiling your taxes & you feel you should pay extra in penalties. If they ask why or mention bribery, respond, as Atomic Shrimp says, with righteous indignation. Then say that's it's not bribery but restitution.
See if they know what that word means. 😃
