Absolutely. You'll get more usable power throughout the overall power range. Even though you're dropping a tooth up front which is approximately equivalent to increasing 3 teeth rear, the rpms weren't "screaming" in 4th gear and never hit the rev limiter unless I was REALLY pushing the motor.

At about 8:50 I spy a defender 😍 belong to a Rover club myself and love those old trucks haha been looking at a Grom for my commute as well just in city riding mostly seems like the perfect vehicle.

it's really just a recommendation - there's many, many people who weigh 300+ lbs and still ride it no problem. Might not be able to get quite to 60mph, but it will still do 50...

I got mine about a month ago, 2019 ABS; the top speed I got is only 45mph, took me around 13-15 seconds going from 20 to 45. how come you can get 60? is it down hill?
that sounds like something might be wrong with your bike - my video was on pretty flat ground (and you can tell because I go in both directions). You may want to have somebody check it out. I've heard of some REALLY big guys who top it out around 50 - but I've never heard as low as 45.
Get a twist-n-go scooter if you’re concerned about shifting gears 👍🏼 I have a big Harley and a Honda PCX 150 scooter . I love riding my scooter more than the Harley !
I'm actually pretty happy with it, if I wanted a bike for highway use, I'd get a "standard" 250 or 300cc bike, I like these small bores for just little cruises around town :)
I hear you, it would just be nice to be able to hop on and off the freeway if needed or to be able to cruise on back highways at 60mph without pushing the engine too hard. Maybe a 200cc version would work.

Fun bike to ride, I have the Bedelli 135 with 5 speed . lot cheaper and can easily do 70 Mph , the extra gear and 10 cc larger engine makes a lot more top speed. But overall these bikes are lots of fun, I enjoy my CT70 just as much.

Actually...it pays homage to the late 60's and early seventies bike. I had one. Top speed was 28 miles an hour...rode it all over Columbus ga. I actually out run a sherriff because he was pissed at me for riding it in the road. He took off chasing me..it took off down a trail. He was so mad.. oh well, I'm 64 years old now...I figure hes stopped looking for me by now.

You should use every gear until it ends. 1´st gear up to the limits (49 km/h until it limits, count it in the mp/h) second one up to the 79 km/h (count to the miles :-)) and so on. You will meet the stopper in 1, and 2 gear! NO STOPPER AT 3 or 4 GEAR. 4 GEAR ONLY GIVES you a lower engine noise (lower rolls per minute (rpm)) and it won't speed up! So what the fuck Honda? For how long should I drive this in? It has tested top speed over 169 km/h! But how, but how and YES! It was without changing anything. You're full of s*it! Honda Monkey 125 has a rev limit of 9500 rpm and if it had the power, it would go ~128 km/h. But it doesn't have, it only goes around 100-110 km/h stock. In order for Monkey to go 169 km/h, it'd need to rev 12601 rpm stock with 4. gear. This is only possible with tuned two stroke 125 engine. Maybe with 4 stroke either but it would be need some real high tech engine tuning.

No, it is a manual transmission motorcycle, so you need to shift your own gears

Revive the ct70 and make it a 185cc...give it a top speed of 80.

Yes and no, the original was from the 60's but was sold in the US until the 80's and they went by the "trail" name, i.e. trail 50, trail 70, etc.

Not going to use it off-road??. That would be like buying a gun and never shooting it
It's all relative... My ATV is for true offroading (swamps, rock trails, etc.) - the monkey will see gravel and light off road stuff :)
This bike was not made for off road. It has no skid plate. It is meant for urban transport and to look silly while doing it.
The Monkey doesn't have adequate suspension for heavy off-road use.
