Last time I looked for a Chocolate chip loadout I had trouble finding a good BDU and helmet cover. Maybe if I use some of these search terms I'll have better luck this time around.
DBDUs sadly have been discontinued from production for sometime - Propper stopped offering them some time in the mid-2010s. Rothco does offer repros and there are Chinese knockoffs, though the latter typically comes with epaulets.
Also I noticed a few years ago a bunch of the DNC came on the market. I was able to snag 1984 dated unissued top and bottoms with liners for like $30 at an AN store in NH. Its a useless pattern, and was obsolete even when issued to our troops in 1990 1991.
Appreciate the compliment! Yeah I had a heck of a time trying to find a blouse in my size. I gave up trying to find trousers in my size, the repros will do for now - Southpaw
I actually do have most of the gear that would have been used by the USMC during that time, so a Battle of Fallujah video could be a possibility in the future - Southpaw
Thank you! Your uncle has a good point though. When the Gulf War began, the US had a shortage of DBDU uniforms to issue to troops, so some troops did deploy wearing Woodland uniforms.
he had also said his helmet and vest were desert camo he had a green band and goggles with a sock on them he had a rag in his helmet for sweat and comfort@@ShadowRegimeAirsoft
Beautiful kit! Do you have any knowledge on how many 3 color uniforms were fielded in Desert Storm? Got a pair of pants dated 1990 (the tag also still refers to them as "Trousers, Hot Weather, Desert Camouflage Pattern (3 color), Combat" instead of "Trousers, Desert Camouflage Pattern; Combat") and heard that some, altho few made it over in time. Just wanna know if I should use them for a kit or grab a 6 color pair.
Holy crap, that woodland medium alice pack looks mint! I have several medium od packs that are virtually like new. Plus several frames. I have 1 woodland pack but its pretty faded and well used. For whatever reason i can never find mint medium m81 packs. Yes i know about the radio packs that fairly recently hit ebay etc. Problem is theyre not big enough, and really are a dedicated radio pack. I use my usgi m81 pack cover anyway, so it doesnt really matter.
Don’t use the standard SWD goggle lenses for eye protection. I use them but only with the special “BALLISTIC” type lenses that they made. You can tell you have BLs if they are made out of a much harder plastic, and are very stiff and not flimsy. I rarely have found them online, but have gotten lucky and picked up a few in a variety of colors at my local surplus store. Also pretty sure the lense will say BALLISTIC on the top as well.
The lenses in these goggles are the ones marked "ballistic", but I have heard conflicting statements that the lenses may or may not be ANSI compliant. I would rather not risk my eyesight if they are not compliant. They still look good sitting on my helmet at least. - Southpaw
Appreciate the compliment! Glad you enjoyed this video, we have more content like this in the works. All of the gear that I have for this loadout was acquired over the timespan of a couple years, and from several different sources both local and online. I bought the BDU top and bottoms separately. I bought the top from a local surplus store, while the bottoms are Rothco reproduction ones, as I have not been able to find real 6-color BDU pants in my size. Ebay may be your best option for gear like this online, but prices like to fluctuate. I've noticed gear from this era is starting to become more expensive now versus a few years ago - Southpaw
That sling would be very correct my dad who was in Iraq in 2003 was still using M16A2 and using those types of slings I wouldn't put it at the very front put it on the very beginning of the barrel
I did notice "ballistic" printed on both my smoked and clear lenses, however I still don't trust them enough to wear in game. I've heard people say that they are fine for airsoft, while others say not to. Either way, they fog easy and aren't very comfortable while wearing compared to my glasses. - Southpaw
I actually bought my PASGT vest off of eBay, but a few years ago when they used to be listed under $100 for vests in really good condition. Occasionally they still pop up every now and then on ebay for a pretty cheap price, you just have to keep checking - Southpaw
I purchased the glasses from the link below. The helo kit I purchased separately on Amazon: colemans.com/u-s-g-i-ess-crossbow-ballistic-sunglasses?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwv7O0BhDwARIsAC0sjWNZaYFmp6tNp6N2XoqF_2XujiSm28I2fep20k1La6334kybdWKWt8kaAlnYEALw_wcB
@@ShadowRegimeAirsoftTo be honest the Chocolate chip pattern works super great for Norwegian autumn. It blends well, specially if its sunny and bright.
@@casualliyt7490 That's actually really cool and surprising! I would have never thought that pattern to be effective in Norway. It certainly wasn't effective in the Middle East (what it was intended for) so that's why the US replaced it. They developed it using the wrong desert for reference.
@@ShadowRegimeAirsofteither it was a mistake or not. its still cool that this camo pattern came out. Maybe not good in use, but sure cool for display :)
@@casualliyt7490 It was designed using the rocky deserts of the southwest US for reference, however the US realized during the Gulf War that the choco chip pattern did not blend well into the smooth and sandy deserts of the Middle East. So they essentially stripped away half of the colors of the pattern and that's how the 3-Color desert "coffee stain" pattern was created. I still think the Choco Chip pattern looks much cooler than the 3-color desert pattern though. Too iconic!
I'd like to ask where I can get an imitation PASGT vest for airsoft. I can't get one anywhere and buying the original is too expensive and inefficient,
From my knowledge imitation PASGT vests do not exist. I would check eBay, as real PASGT vests in decent shape sometimes pop up there for under $100. - Southpaw
Well yes and no. This video was filmed before the EG-67 ban was announced, and our team still has a stockpile of them from a previous pre-ban event. From my understanding, technically you are not allowed to transport EG-67s offsite from an event, and vendors are only allowed to sell off old stock, but you are able to use them onsite at an event if they are approved by the event host. EG is trying to get them re-instated.
Ideally, I would like to have the pistol pouch on my weak side, but with my current belt setup, I do not have room. Rarely do I ever actually transition to my sidearm, and even more rarely do I ever have to perform a mag change during a fight with it. I reach for my canteen way more often, so I like having the canteen on my weak side for easier access instead. - Southpaw
Hi there! A majority of the tweaks made to the kit have been made for airsoft purposes and make sense in doing so. Other tweaks are due to not being able to source the correct equipment.
Great kit, although airsoft culture overall differs from country to country. As for USA and what i've throught the years the most of casual airsoft consists of kids (sometimes minors without parents) in civ clothing running around with full face paintballish masks and it's kinda sad to see, knowing the US gun culture, 2nd ammendment and stuff. But yet there's a minority of milsim player whom i appreciate for taking this hobby so seriously. Of course there's a place for casual airsoft, especially if you're dont have enough money or have no distinct passion for a hobby. Anyways, i just subconciously compared it to Russian's airsoft culture which, in terms of casual and regular games have a more serious degree and overall, it's been and still an interesting topic to think/discuss about. Thanks for the vid, i enjoyed the dedication and gear authenticity! :)
I personally think both versions look cool and iconic. What I really like is the woodland IBAs mixed with the tri-color desert pattern uniforms worn by the US Army and Marines during the early years of the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars.
