Having installed over 100 car tackers of diff makes for finance company's, I can tell you that no GPS antenna need be seen. Wow! I am thankful for the full disclosure and honest review. I'm still mad as Seicane and I didn't even make the purchase. I will never order from Seicane now. Thank you.
I've been running an Atoto for over a year now, just a smaller double-din sized unit. Same general complaints with android being clunky to use for the things you want a car stereo to do, and with the touchscreen with no knobs being very non intuitive to use without steering wheel controls. Physically the Atoto has held up very well, but out of the box it evidently had some moisture between the screen and digitizer. It'll 'fog' a big and then flash off when going from garage to sun with the top off of the car. Also, the screen isn't the least bit visible in the sun with a roadster, so lack of tactile controls is irritating. Looks like CarPlay would solve most of the issues with these, but if I had it to do over again, I'd just go with a Kenwood, Sony, or Pioneer with better control over sound processing and do without app support.
**Edit: The disc loader does not work. So I got wiring harness shipped with it so no sound, and the Disc loader doesn't work, stops at 90% in, and gets hung up. I'll be asking for a refund.** **Save yourself a major headache, and DO NOT order anything from this company** So here's my take on it, bought the unit, that you "should have gotten" got in after 2 weeks, after paying for the 3-5 day shipping. Total came to just over $405 and some change. Which the only way they were able to take the payment was through paypal. No order sheet or any company information included with the system. which worried me a little. No sound after connection, 3 connectors didn't have a spot for stock connectors. It needs to be said, I have a 2008 Civic SI so I'm not sure if they sell these as replacement for the lower Honda models, and don't expect the people that have the older Nav system from Honda to upgrade. My steering wheel interface did not work, my guess is its one of the connectors I'm missing. Screen and system looked good when it came in. interface was fluid, and the buttons made it feel similar to the older system. However at this point I would steer clear from these guys. The lack of connection clearly need to get the system functional, and the fact that those connections were not included should, in my opinion make this company a waste of money. Contacted Seicane today, so hope to hear back from them by tomorrow. At this point going to give them the benefit of the doubt, to make it right. however if they give me the run around, or try and say this is somehow my fault, I'll be contacting my bank asap. Hopefully this helps someone considering this, I think DEBOSS GARAGE should have said something about the turn around time for replies in the video, seeing as of now, it is 2-3 days to get a response when I questioned about tracking status after the unit was clearly not here in 3-5 days. Other than that I like the videos guys keep'um coming....
When someone reviews an Android device who doesn't know anything about Android is pointless. The audio player widget on the home screen is just that, a widget. It's tied to a specific audio app on the device. It's not tied to the radio or your phone. Widgets are something are Apple folks won't like until Apple comes out with them. Then it'll be ground breaking. You can probably press and hold over the widget and remove it.
I'm not a big fan of apple products. And of course android has it's own faults too. Neither of those OS's are flawless. But putting a 6.1 android marshmallow OS on device like that in 2018? Really? Old as hell and not in anyway comfortable to use.
the android version doesn't matter that much on a head unit, but that widget was for the music app that came with the unit, you can delete that one and put whatever music app you want, the problem is that you don't know how to use it 😂, and you can get it to work with android auto easily
I installed Android Auto just to try it but it just hangs on startup. Not compatible with this OS version or something. I’m not confident enough to say it can’t be done, but I don’t have a need for it. Everyone says press and hold player widget to delete it - tried but nothing happens.
@@juancarlospalomino8939 and it's not that hard to create a unified player for your hardware or to have the widget listen to system Multimedia broadcasts and display that. That's how you get controls on wear OS and lockscreen controls (on pre 5.0 phones) that's also how Bluetooth controls work. And as for widget system, iOS does has widgets (the left most screen) but you can't that put them anywhere you want as you can on android. Also it seems like they use a custom launcher which doesn't have the long press to delete option. It's either a widget that is hard-coded or a launcher feature. Either way it's of no use.
Be glad you didn't get the one with the buttons and smaller screen. I have one like that of a different brand. The problem with it is the wat the screen is angled back makes it extremely hard to see in the daylight even at maximum brightness. But I do understand wanting knobs that's why I got the one that I did.
i just got told these prefab custom dashes with affordable internet app connected dash touchscreens exist, my reality feels like its unraveling its cleverness all along, but had to know the roots of such luxuries at their peak expensiveness and low tech origins, this would been a 2ooo buck custom shop setup in the days before smartphones, so neat to know its all ready to order and self install for cost of a console..
I much rather have buttons and dials to a touch screen while driving. Honestly I never put in such a thing into my car unless i had to have navigation and a back up camera, and I'm not doing that till my neck stiffens up, or I find a car without a rear window. I would like to see a fallow up video if he decides to take out the screen and go back to his original head unit. but I also like to know if the unit does grow on him.. 140 bucks for a new head unit is not something to sneer at..
This company knows exactly what they are doing, it is not a language barrier thing. They offer UA-camrs a radio they have to purchase, and say that once they do a POSITIVE review, they will get a refund and send them a percentage of any sales on their affiliate link. So basically most people on UA-cam that say the unit is great are sellouts, because these units suck big ones.
We got the radio for free. Didn’t even pay shipping. If it was just the android 6.0 it would suck. The built in mic on this is useless but it looks like the newer model has an upgraded external mic. One thing I’m curious about is how it has been handling -20*C weather. Not well... still using the CarPlay when it works it’s great.
@@DEBOSSGARAGE I debated getting one of the newer models for my Jeep JK 2017, they look great but I got scared from some of the stories I heard, so I went with a regular Pioneer with Android auto, it does not look as nice as the 10 inch screen Seicane, but it works great all the time!
I bought the $200 unit for my civic and they sent me one that looks to be used, it had scratches on the screen and a bunch of fingerprints marks. I said that’s okay maybe it happened during shipping. As soon as I installed it, the screen worked, but no sound was coming out. I tried changing the radio setting from Asia to North America, and it didn’t work. Literally a day later, the screen turned black. I can see some light on the touch buttons, but the screen was all black. I took it to an audio technician and he said the device is faulty. Went back to Seicane and they said okay send the device back to China and they’re having me pay for shipping even though I already paid $85 to ship it from them. And they’re having me pay for shipping again after they fix it or send me a new one. So now I’m out of $200 and I seemed to have broken a clip so my stock radio doesn’t fit OEM you can still see it popping out. For next time I always recommend buying from someone local or at least in the same country you are in.
There is no such thing as a refund for them. If something doesn't work or they send you the wrong one, you are DONE! Customer service is also in the toilet.
I've had so many issues with my Seicane unit that I don't have room here. Highlights: trim surround doesn't match up with knobs on my dash. The microphone is worthless for calls. I wouldn't buy one again.
Aside from route accuracy, IMHO the most important thing about GPS is if it gives good spoken guidance. (I'm with you about screens being too big and therefore distracting) I have a garmin which actually speaks the street names, which my wife especially loves. Does this speak directions + street names? I had no idea that you could buy replacement head units like this, so cool video!! Really exciting how easy it is to install.
The unit comes with a GPS preinstalled called iGO. It has spoken guidance but not street names. You can get google maps, Garmin and Waze through the Google Play Store. With my iPhone and the dongle I just use Apple Maps and it has street names on spoken guidance.
If you want a free navigation app that speaks streets, try waze, I'm fairly certain it works world wide. I've used it for well over a year, it uses current traffic reports to get you the fastest route.
Nothing is better than the stock radio. My 2018 Civic has CarPlay factory installed and works flawlessly without a glitch. It’s to the point you have to get a new car to keep up with the technology. These aftermarket companies are shady.
I ordered an Android 9.0 unit with octacore 64gb and received a quadcore 32gb for my 2007 Honda Accord EX-L. Soft buttons on left of screen quit working after a week. The dual climate control seems to work except no display. They're response was to switch two wires sending a poor quality grainy photo.
When I first used the radio app I didn’t get anything playing is it because it has to be set to North America radio? Or do I need to put a radio antenna I get zero reception from the head unit but everything else works and I plugged in everything that it came with
I just got 3 weeks ago and Installed myself the 7 In android 8.0 quadcore with knobs. I'm positive with the product, mainly because it looks like an OEM. I was impressed with the smooth performance, the GPS precision and the Bluetooth calls quality. But there are some things I dislike. Aftersales support really sucks., I couldn't play a Genuine DVD movie, but I can play my old CDs. The button backlit does not work as expected, it is supposed to change colors, but at least it works, the quality sound seems to be decreased, although I will replace my speakers and see if they really have 45 Watts per channel, The unit have many wires that nobody know what is the purpose, neither them, I asked, why they do not have Installation guide, it is more useful than users guide, and contacted Aftersales support, and they reply at least 24 hrs after, and their replies are minimal and useless. they really suck. I do not want to know what would happen if my unit would have been a defective one.... I guess, i would have had a pain in the.. you know :)
So my 2014 Honda civic EX coupe has a tiny screen that shows me my rear camera and songs on bluetooth and stuff like that. Will that be affected if install this screen? Thank you!!
Has your seicane unit failed yet? Mine failed 2 months in and their customer support on AliExpress is useless. It was great until it wouldn't boot up, I tried resetting and lots of other things and no luck
Standard chinese buisness attitude. Any company in the west would try and fix this PR disaster but the overseas attitude is to sweep under the rug and blame the customer
Do a review on the Atoto A6 Pro. !!!! You can buy a special dash cam that only works with that head unit,,, TPMS system , a wireless steering wheel control, back up camera, wifi etc. The sound is amazing and not tingy. And it has a two second boot time. Problem I had with my seicane unit was if I start my car and just back up the unit wouldn't be fully booted so the back up camera was kinda pointless. My 99 Integra feels like a 2015.
Hi Deboss Garage! Does it matter if you just put the airbag sensor at the back? Without seeing the light if its on or off. I’m just wondering if its okay or safe. Thank you!
You should be able to hold and remove that widget that plays music from the hard-drive and add a widget for the radio channels that way when u go back to the home screen you can change the station
I have one of the Seicane head units for my Jeep Wrangler and I love it!!! But how could they build something so awesome without a built in satellite receiver? I am really pleased with my radio from Seicane.
Thanks for posting been looking for one of these for a long time now own 09 Honda Civic ex coupe would love to have an Apple play one thanks for posting
For my old fiat panda, it costs 400$+. And it literally has no freakin car control buttons or anything like that, not even a full cover. It's just a simple radio with touchscreen that costs 1/4 price of the car itself XD
I got the volume, the mode, and the channel up and down to work it is in the settings somewhere. I just couldn't get the car info in didn't let me do any of that.
Did your civic have the premium audio/built in amplifier and sub? Because I’ve noticed that is an issue when trying to replace the factory unit. I’ve seen a few work arounds but none really work resulting in too much gain and a volume knob going from quite to too loud in a single turn. And all of them result in the factory sub not working.
I would wager that carplay runs in a VM on that device which would explain why it works so well. It wouldn't be tied to the version of Android that's running. But everything else on there is and 6.0 is ancient now. If it has android 6.0 installed I would guess it's trying to run auto as an app rather than a VM, which would tie performance to the version of Android installed and how well optimised it is for the hardware.
Every single car manufacturer that supports Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay are running Android OS underneath... Take Honda for example, it's running Android 4.2 on the Civic head units that support Apple CarPlay... There's no "VM" or any kind of emulation going on, it's just an app that displays Apple CarPlay when connected to your phone...
Hi thanks for you full review about the android head unit for Honda Civic I have the same unit everything works except the steering control to operate the unit all wires are connected as should to but I don't know what I missed can you please give heads up to how make it works? thanks
I'm just curiously asking I've got my Seicane installed on my Hyundai Santa fe but steering keying didnt go with the setting also multitasking was not possible such as listening to radio while using navigation driving, moreover movie clip show "do not watch while driving"message.would you tell me settting up for these?
You definitely need to get back to your installer. The phone call, navigation and radio should all work simultaneously and seamlessly.. of course, it will have only the phone audio when you are on phone. The head unit mutes the radio when it plays the navigation instructions and resumes when that instruction is over.

What year is this honda and did you say you payed 400 for the car ??
Nothing is better than the stock radio. My 2018 Civic has CarPlay factory installed and works flawlessly without a glitch. It’s to the point you have to get a new car to keep up with the technology. These aftermarket companies are shady.
Yea nothings better than my 2003 accord ex stock radio without an aux cord. Its so great. And the stock audio? FUCKING GREAT MANNN.
Did you have to do any wiring or was it all set up to be plugged in?
Liked the video already, and i only saw the intro lol 😂
So the wire harness that comes off the new unit is a direct match to the ones from the 2010 Honda Civic? No need to strip wires?
Thanks for the SUPER HONEST review... This really helps with making a decision...
Bought that same exact one but have no sound coming out of speakers..how can I fix that
When I first used the radio app I didn’t get anything playing is it because it has to be set to North America radio?
I guess, i would have had a pain in the.. you know :)
Is it still working?
Compatible with 2007 Acura CSX? Need confirmation before I buy pls.
So my 2014 Honda civic EX coupe has a tiny screen that shows me my rear camera and songs on bluetooth and stuff like that. Will that be affected if install this screen? Thank you!!
What if mine is the GPS system one? I have different wires in the back? Will this one work too?
Has your seicane unit failed yet? Mine failed 2 months in and their customer support on AliExpress is useless. It was great until it wouldn't boot up, I tried resetting and lots of other things and no luck
So they're not sending the other radio 😂
Hostage Radio!
Standard chinese buisness attitude. Any company in the west would try and fix this PR disaster but the overseas attitude is to sweep under the rug and blame the customer
@@iwtommo Typical communist horse shit...
More like a Ford quality! Awesome Lol! Keep up the awesome vids rich!
Have you tried the dasaita unit? I heard that’s the higher quality version. What are your thoughts? I want to order one for my 2008 civic.
Hi Deboss Garage!
Does it matter if you just put the airbag sensor at the back? Without seeing the light if its on or off. I’m just wondering if its okay or safe. Thank you!
Its never okay to not plug the air bag sensor back in. Lol, better to be safe than sorry for the passenger
You should be able to hold and remove that widget that plays music from the hard-drive and add a widget for the radio channels that way when u go back to the home screen you can change the station
Someone else suggested that as well but it doesn’t seem to function like a widget.
the screws are called Henry Phillips
What about steering controls.. does it support steering volume channel and mode options??
I have one of the Seicane head units for my Jeep Wrangler and I love it!!! But how could they build something so awesome without a built in satellite receiver? I am really pleased with my radio from Seicane.
how is it 5 months in?
Thanks for posting been looking for one of these for a long time now own 09 Honda Civic ex coupe would love to have an Apple play one thanks for posting
I find that the 15 Civic has an audio delay when using bluetooth. Hasn't bothered me too much but I guess it could be pretty annoying.
Can you get Google assistant on this unit to make phone call for you via voice control without using Android auto
Sound man Doug Bernard makes a iPad dash kit he also makes some for Samsung tablets pretty kool
hi ? Hualingan Aftermarket Apple Carplay, Android Auto??
Hey I got the dongle but I see it’s just screen recording my screen and showing it on the screen any ways to correct this?
Does your iPhone have to be connected to the dongle at all times in order for CarPlay to work?
yes
For my old fiat panda, it costs 400$+. And it literally has no freakin car control buttons or anything like that, not even a full cover. It's just a simple radio with touchscreen that costs 1/4 price of the car itself XD
i have been looking for a unit for a 2008 Honda Pilot and cant find one anywhere. would you guys happen to know where to look
what an intro dude///dope!!!
Teach us how to put a 2 din touchscreens. Into a 1994 ram
Joying is a strange name for a car navigation, but I hear they are the best Chinese sets. You could review them.
Dasaita has taken the throne. But then again Joying Units are like half the price.
Technically you need wifi for it to work? Since i seen the wifi connection thing on
I got the volume, the mode, and the channel up and down to work it is in the settings somewhere.
No sub or premium audio. No issues though
Great video. Very informative. I want to see more. I have Nissan Rogue and installed aftermarket radio as well and I like it.
I have the same one but my Bluetooth sound ant working and how do u hook up wifi
Hey Rich! Are you looking for an apprentice? I can supply the tims every morning!
Awesome vid! What's the total time estimate from breakdown to install?
Hi thanks for you full review about the android head unit for Honda Civic I have the same unit everything works except the steering control to operate the unit all wires are connected as should to but I don't know what I missed can you please give heads up to how make it works? thanks
Only if they had one for a 2012 Focus
...A TABLET WITH GPS WORKS NICELY.. SO MUCH LESS STRESS..
Hi Where you get this complete unit from .
Looks good I personally went with the newer model, have you tried to video chat from it
I'm just curiously asking I've got my Seicane installed on my Hyundai Santa fe but steering keying didnt go with the setting also multitasking was not possible such as listening to radio while using navigation driving, moreover movie clip show "do not watch while driving"message.would you tell me settting up for these?
You definitely need to get back to your installer. The phone call, navigation and radio should all work simultaneously and seamlessly.. of course, it will have only the phone audio when you are on phone. The head unit mutes the radio when it plays the navigation instructions and resumes when that instruction is over.
Ahhh the way you northern boys say out, gets me every time
What? He's in Southern Ontario. I am confused.
I'm from the state's, we say out completely different, at least farther down south
Did you need to bypass the stock amp? Everybody is telling me to do so and why?
@@techassembly9653 thaaaanks you're actually the only one on the internet who replied to me. If I'm right, only si models have an amp, so as for my 2009 coupe, I won't have to bypass the amp, good news!
Hello Deboss,
great vid,
Is there automatic brightness control ? and how is viewing angle ?
thanks :)
Yep there is automatic brightness control that is adjustable and no issue with viewing angle.
@@DEBOSSGARAGE excellent i am assuming it's normal display and not ips one right ?
@@ankithmistry I don't believe it is IPS no.
Any reason why my buttons light up, but no screen turn on?
I see a YJ hiding back there! Cummins swap?
You guys should hook up with garage b sometime.
could you do this with the same civic but a double din unit? mine doesn’t have that interface it has a double din i would assume area
"Cheap Android Head Unit for ANY VEHICLE" seriously wtf, it's obviously not for any vehicle!!
Lines up like ford quality??? you mean gm quality and especially Tesla quality
Will this work on a 2005 Civic?
Asking for positive reviews or enticing buyers with free gift as a bribe is a typical tactics used by Chinese sellers to garner positive rating/endorsement!
Do we have to pay 122$ for the shipping??? WTF?! I want one of those but!...is almost the double price.
My question in the wires need to be cut or was it all plug in play
We didn't cut any wires but make sure you select compatible connection type at checkout. 👊
does the aux port still work?
How did you download and activate the dongle I been having trouble connecting it
I have 2008 Honda Civic ex with the “upgraded audio system “ can anyone help everything is plugged in and the radio works except no sound is coming out
I have the exact same issue except mines an 06
I have the same problem
I have the 8.1 how can I get it to watch Netflix please help me it was my only reason getting this unit
Is their people I can pay to just install it for me I’d be nervous af taking my car apart
So is this worth it?
Hi, new to your channel. Wondering what kind of gas mileage do you get on that Honda and how many miles are on it?
