    This is a great video. Thanks for making it. I have started looking into purchasing a Roland TD9 drumkit, but I am finding it hard to find compared to the TD11. Will the TD11 work in the same way you described in this video.

      +Gunjuro it should i imagine. i would maybe ask around the rock band forums there maybe somebody who has a td-11 and could give you a clear answer.

    Hey, thanks so much man! the guys that make that midi adapter didn't say it was comparable with the ps4, so that's definitely good to know, also thanks for showing us those numbers

    I have a Yamaha DD-65 (which was featured in the manual as one of the drumsets they tested) and I can't get my drums to work. My midi cable has an input, output, and USB end; is that's what's causing issues?
    That's the only thing I can think of that could be making it not work. I managed to get it working in FL Studio, and I tried changing around the midi notes.

    I have the roland hd1. And I was wondering if i could use it for the drums. It has got midi, but I dont have the midi pro adapter. Its not available in my country. Is there another way i Can use it for rock band?

    Really sucks that they didn't update the midi converter for Rock Band 4 on Xbox One, forcing you to have a guitar hero world tour set as well :(

      Sucks that I can’t use my ion kit on Xbox one with out that wired legacy adapter when on ps4 you just plug it in why why lol

    @bigmansavagedan81 7 років тому +1

    Wow I had no idea that this was possible. Haven't played rock and for years so I'm out of the loop. The one thing I always remember is that the input lag was usually horrible. Is it any better on the PS4 version? Thanks for any info and thanks for the upload. Curious to try this out.

    • @knighthawk86855
      @knighthawk86855 7 років тому

      bigmansavagedan81 still just as bad, but if you kept a tube TV around like I did, no lag for the tube TVs, I only use my tubed TV for rock band, and guitar hero games, flat screen for everything else.

    • @ShawnJonesHellion
      @ShawnJonesHellion 6 років тому

      bigmansavagedan81 theres a dam setting for input lag it forces u to set up

    • @TheChucknoxus
      @TheChucknoxus 6 років тому

      The calibration is just there to fool people into playing with their awful flatscreens. As long as your console has an HDMI output you can hook up any low input lag monitor and have a great experience. You only need a CRT if you play on Wii because the console has no HDMI output and the conversions create a ton of lag.

    Hey! Really enjoy your videos on music related news. I randomly found this video watching other stuff on my ekit. Could you tell me whether or not you've tried your kit with Guitar Hero?? I'm able to play RockBand easily with my ekit on Xbox360 with the midi adapter but when I try to play GuitarHero the drums trigger multiple notes on the game. Any ideas?

    I have been doing this since Rock Band 4 came out. I have a Roland TD-9 and TD-25 sets mixed. From the two Roland V-Drum modules I have them feeding in to a Behringer XENYX 12 channel mixer (only for the purpose to increase the line signal as it was a little weak feeding to my main mixer). From there it goes to a Behringer X18 which I absolutely love. The audio signal comes from the PS4 via the optical output and uses an optical to RCA/2.5mm stereo which then connects to the X18. I also have several other items going to the mixer but not for Rock Band. Although I have a Casio Privia keyboard which would have been great if they kept KB support in RB4. From the X18 we go to a QSC GX5 which power Cerwin-Vega XLS-12s. Sound is pretty amazing (ask the neighbors). A little of track but anyway... the PS3 MIDI works great to interface with the game. HOWEVER, it cannot perform the same functions as a PS4 controller which is my goal. When I go to the drums if Rock Band isn't already fired up I better have a PS4 controller with me to get to the point where the pretty red light comes on, on the MIDI controller. I have not had any issues ever with the sensitivity on the MIDI controllers. Anything from a little below 3/4s to all the way up doesn't seem to make a difference.

    Um what the hell after I connected everything it doesn't let me play pro drums even tho I have cymbals and whenever I'm playing whenever I hit the blue tom the game says it's the green tom whenever I hit the yellow tom it says it's the blue tom and I have to hit the yellow cymbal for my yellow to work and the red is normal. I have a Roland hd1 and just got a midi pro adapter but the adapter doesn't recognise as a controller. So when I load the game my dual shock loads as a microphone and the midi adapter and drums won't connect. How does your adapter work?

    • @rnrtruestories
      @rnrtruestories  8 років тому

      The hd1 should work i thought ive seen people use it in rock band. Make sure the midi pro adapter is set to d for drums it might be flicked to keyboard or guitar. Also try using the sensitivity wheel maybe its too low.

    So you are saying I could not buy that same piece of tech and play my electric drum set it with my X-Box? Or when you say "PS4 Only" are you saying that this specific tutorial is for PS4 Only because a PS4 is what you own. Please respond. I really want to buy on of these

    • @ZohondeKids
      @ZohondeKids 7 років тому

      Camp Site Vlogs The reason why is because: The PS4 works natively with PS3 *peripherals.* When this video was made the PDP wired legacy adapter wasn't out, but if you want to know how to set it up for Xbox one.
      You'll need
      Edrums (duh)
      A midi pro adapter
      And a PDP wired legacy adapter
      Also, your drum kit will need a midi out, and you'll need a midi cable.
      Keep the midi pro adapter manual btw, it shows how to setup the bindings if they're wrong.

    So i bought a MIDI cable and bought the ps3 MIDI adapter you showed in your video. I also put in the numbers you showed, and i can hit notes using the adapter controler, but not on my drum kit. I am using a Roland TD-9 as well. Any insight would be helpful.

    • @rnrtruestories
      @rnrtruestories  8 років тому

      not really sure i understand the issue, but maybe try ensuring your midi cable is connected to the proper midi port on your drum brain.

    • @danieljones7220
      @danieljones7220 8 років тому

      +Rock Gamer I have my Midi cable plugged into the out on the brain, and on the in of the adapter.
      Rockband 4 registers i have drums when i am on the main menu. However if i try and play a song with my drum kit none of my drum pads register as notes to the console. Only if i hit the Square, Circle, Triangle, or X on the Midi adapter will notes register in game. When i make a new kit on the TD9 does anything special need to happen with the kit besides the midi numbers that i have to enter?

    • @rnrtruestories
      @rnrtruestories  8 років тому

      to get the midi adapter to read your drum you have ot hit the start button in the game's menu and you should be able to log into your profile. If it's still not working maybe your midi cable is defective. When you're ps3 or ps4 is turned on if you hit the pads a red light should blink on the midi pro adapter.

    • @danieljones7220
      @danieljones7220 8 років тому

      +Rock Gamer Turns out it was my sensitivity. I had it set a few scrolls to low so that would explain why it didn't pick up signal. Thank you for your effort in trying to help solve my issue!

    Does it work the same with xbox one?

    • @tkingkehl
      @tkingkehl 6 років тому

      Not sure if you ever found out the answer, but no not quite. The midi adapter (xbox 360 in the case of the xbox one) needs to be plugged into the PDP Wired Legacy Adapter, which unfortunately is no longer in production. If they end up on eBay or something like that they seem to go for around $300, despite the $30 price tag when it was released. It really sucks.
      If you are looking to play with an electronic drum kit on the xbox one, it's almost worth it to buy a cheap/pre-owned ps4 for around the same price as the PDP adapter.
