I own one of these. It's a great helmet and fits well and is relatively quiet. It also looks cool, has decent ventilation and solid build. There are some issues, though, to consider. The first is, the quick release chin strap, while a good idea, is pretty uncomfortable. The hard metal bar digs into your chin and I can only imagine what it'd do to you in a crash. I have to wear a neck gator every time to tuck under that metal bar. Second, again, everybody loves drop down sun visors. But the problem with this one is that it is 100% in the way of the attachment area of most bluetooth comm systems. You'll have to use a low profile one. That's a drag, and expensive. That said, there's a lot of value with this helmet and the colorways are cool too. I think I even got one of those pin lock lenses that came with it.
I hadn't heard of LS2 helmets until yesterday when I stumbled across them at a local MC dealer. First thing I did was try them with my glasses. Fit was decent. Last week I tried the AFX FX-41 helmet and there was no way it would work for me with glasses. It was impossible to get my glasses on. So that started the quest to figure out which helmets would work with glasses.
I own one of these and overall I like it, for the price. I can't understand why they put a locking faceshield on an ADV helmet, though. It's nothing more than a nuisance. I never lock it intentionally and it's annoying to hunt for the button as you're approaching a stoplight and find that your shield won't open. Make sure you try it out with the goggles you intend to use. I had to try 3 brands in the store before I found some (Oakleys) that fit the eye port; it isn't quite as generous as a straight dirt helmet. I yanked out the chin curtain immediately. If I'm doing a highway trip I'll wear my Neotec; if I'm wearing this, I want airflow. I guess it makes the helmet a little more versatile, though. For some reason, I always seem to fumble to get the quick-release strap to release-even without gloves. It just doesn't seem as well-designed as the one on my Shoei and it's a little uncomfortable while wearing, too. Honestly I'd swap it for D-rings if I had the option...it's not great.
I have the exact one you have there in the middle (Black one) as my backup and it is a really nice helmet, very comfortable, fairly light and very nice built quality. It is not up there with the Arai XD4, which is my main lid but, I would be happy If I had to use the Explorer as my only one.
Hey Rocky Mountain ppl, thank you for the review. What's your insight into things like soundproofing and build quality of this helmet? How does it perform on an open road in speeds more than 60mph - is it loud inside? And for the build quality - does the helmet squeak when you're putting it on, or while operating the visors and such? Thank you!
I saw another review that really resonated with me, the guy said "we should be wearing hearing protection when riding. when wearing hearing protection, soundproofing becomes a non-issue"
What I do need to know is how to clean the sun visor mechanism after I have caught some dust while wearing goggles. A bit of dust makes the sun visor mechanism not work at all.
I just bought the LS2 Explorer from Ebay, after removing the inner linner for a wash, i re-install as the instruction manual. Problem after wearing it, when i remove the helmet the inner liner pin/button will come off, and everytime if have to refix it again. Which is inconvenience.
I would like this for my adventure/trail riding. How is the ventilation at low speed? There are no recess for the Bluetooth, how people fit the intercom e sistema please? Cheers
My only gripe is at night you get significant glare/reflections with lights. Don’t know if it’s the visor itself or the pin lock insert but it can be very annoying. Other than that it’s everything it’s cracked up to be.
Actually a nice helmet. I like the actual vents and the actual cheek pads and the actual spoilers and the actual actuation of the visor and the actual nose guard and the actual visor and the actual snap of the visor and the actual button on the shield and the actual installation of the pinlock and the actual opening of the chin strap and the actual space for your glasses in the padding. Actually, I will actually consider actually getting this actual helmet. S
This is helmet isn't specifically designed with glasses cutouts but we've had customers wear these with glasses and say it works great. So you shouldn't have a problem doing that with this helmet.
@@roadwarrior8560 mine is the carbon version bro. I really don't rate this helmet unless you want a budget helmet. Admittedly, the premium ones are alot more expensive, but I think they are worth it given that your head's overall comfort play a huge part in a safe and enjoyable ride. Plus it really is that big once it's on your head to the point you look ridiculous. I'm probably going to go the arai. I'll sell you my LS2. Pick up Vietnam 😂
I also got the LS2 carbon Explorer. I'm not a fan of it. Shell way to big in size. Came with rust on inside components. The black flip down visor broke on the first ride. The lower foam parts regularly come loose. I rate this helmet as pure trash

2:30 One issue I see right away is that these helmets are probably not going to work with a helmet communicator - the side vents are going to make it impossible to isntall a Cardo / Sena unit.
I am currently using the LS2 helmet and have no issue installing my Cardo Bold on it. Took a bit of time but manage to do it and the visor work perfectly fine with the cardo installed.
@@hungphann Were you able to mount speakers under the liner, or are they exposed? After seeing so many ads for this helmet with the new cardo unit, I thought it would be a little more adapted to accepting comms.
No, it is NOT the same. I haven't read too much into it so I'm not 100% sure what changed, but there was definitely some big revision from what I've heard. - Chase
When i remove the cheek pads to wash, I cannot get it installed correctly. The black plastic tab that slides into the bottom of the helmet doesn't fit and comes loose when riding. Can someone post a video or explain how to install the cheek pads? Thanks.

😡😡 The worst helmet I've ever had in my life. The inner visor broke just from use within two weeks, and they offered no solution since according to them it's an internal part with no replacement. The front visor has terrible visibility because the latch is huge, and if you want to keep it partially open, you can't see anything. Extremely noisy; I have to wear earplugs because of the amount of turbulence it creates. It has terrible aerodynamic design. I already knew LS2 was bad-it's a cheap, low-quality brand-but I hoped they would have stepped up with this helmet. Far from it. Not recommended at all.
Been useing 1 for the last 12 months in Vietnam, Great for the hot weather, plenty of ventilation..😊
Finally, a helmet that lets me wear my glasses comfortably.
That is my biggest complaint with my Bell MX-9 Adventure helmet. Long days on the bike usually lead to headaches from the sunglasses 😎 - Wes
Strange that as I can wear sunglasses all day with my MX9?
I know right!, I even use my goggles over my glasses with the LS2 Explorer and it is really comfortable.
Nice helmet but I prefer a modular one like my Scorpion AT960 which I love.

I fit mine right infront of it the lever. It's tight but cardo freedom 2x clip fits.
The quick release is completely covered by the padding that covers the chinstrap, maybe yours is missing a piece?

Thanks for the video! Sorry if you already answered this question.... What Bluetooth system will work with this helmet?
Looks nice but I'm not sure about that latch vs good old D rings.
I never hear anyone talk about how well these work with collars
Does it have room for speakers inside?
There's also a carbon version which is lighter and comes with double D ring closure as well.
