ua-cam.com/video/bui43JItzJQ/v-deo.html video on how to install the flywheel this is the updated version thanks for watching and please subscibe and share
For future reference my 2.0 TDI DSG was making no rattle noise at all, then I drove through flood water and put the bell housing part under water, and a heap of what looked like gravy drained back out. This was obviously all the worn flywheel material, and it started rattling like mad a few hours later as it dried back out. My car was at 260,000kms. Seems the crap in there can keep it quiet yet it's still on the way out, , so something to watch beyond 200kms / 150 miles or so!
I live in LA and drive to Metric Autosport in Huntington Beach to get my 2014 VW GLI fixed. Local mechanics near LA and the stealership tend to charge 30-40% more. I was told they charge $550 to drop the DSG. My car has 200K, luckily many highway miles, but I am beginning to hear the chatter while creeping forward in traffic.
Hey what size are the 6 screws that hold it on??... My new DMF did NOT come w/ the 6 screws. I've mostly found torque to yield specs, but some guys on a tdi forum are saying they're NOT torque to yield, so the truth is a bit of a moving target right now. Torque to yield is still new to me, seen any good explanations?? - thanks
@@ben_gurin yes, I went with the Luk brand. Car drives like new again! Apparently they made it better updated version then the OEM one. And cheaper to.
thanks! i just ordered a luk dmf! my tdi is at 109k , should i replace the clutch pack? and if so what should i do, im seeing chinese clutch disk packs for like under 200$? everything else is just so expensive
it usually gets pretty loud before it totally breaks. eventually it will fall apart and damage the trans housing. I usually drive it for a week or 2 before I get to it. .

Daul mass flywheel maybe for torque shock but it is also a vibration damper on the TDI diesel engine
Did u swap out the pilot bearing when you changed this? Looking forward to doing this in my mk5 r32

Would of loved to see the transmissions install. Lots of videos on flywheel but not on transmissions install.
What was the part number for the flywheel?
So what was the total $$ w/ shippping & all ??
How you remove the flywheel
When buying a new DMF is Luk the only one that’s updated, and what would I need to look for as far as the upgraded one?

Is it possible to use a conversion flywheel kit to mono-masse ? because they are more reliable.
Your comfort might degrade, but yeah, it's doable.
I'm getting a terrifying grinding noise at low speeds that go away the faster I go. Could this also be problem?
not sure about that.
I had the same. Garage fixed it, seemed to be some wrongly mounted service part(diff)?
@@oscardominguez1680 mine turned out to be the flywheel. Replaced and all is good
@@tyjohnson7428 was it expensive?
@@oscardominguez1680 about $900 USD all In for parts and labor. Wasn't great but I wasn't ready to junk the car
I hope i can do this job correctly 😅
Bs I accidentally ordered the 8 bolt dsg dmf instead of 6 we’re can I find it

@@Mikefngarage Thank you for your reply. I’m getting loud and continuous sound in Neutral. Should I change only DMF or clutch too?
@@tilkymacky above 200k miles I would change the clutches below just the flywheel
Drove mine for over a year and I'm just getting it done now
I just changed the flywheel as I started trying starting trouble.
