- I am sharing another video of a painting from the blank canvas to a finished painting. I hope you enjoy the process. I did speed up the video x2 but did do a voice over in many places to share my thoughts. This is a 30x40” canvas. I call the painting “Fragmented Dreams.”
If you want to see it on my website, I am at cherylwilsonart.com/
Please consider giving me a thumbs up if you want more videos like this. They take several days to paint and do but will continue if it is of value.

I'm absolutely so inspired by you. Thanks to you and your channel ❤ Love your work and your passion 🤩
Thank you so much!! I think passion is the key to growing when creating abstracts. I honestly feel people connect when we first put passion into what we do. Thank you for commenting, i appreciate it
Absolutely breathless 😮
Thank you 😊 so much
WOW. that is so beautiful 💞💞🌷

Laughed when you said some of the paint has gone to the underground 😂✌🏼 ( watching this for the second time … have been going through a phase not wanting to go out ) Love your paintings so much !!
I so much appreciate your commenting and watching my videos!!! I think many artists are introverts and love staying in!!!

Thank you for sharing your process.
THANK you for your support and the comment. I really appreciate it
Hi Cheryl. My hubby does Not like any of my abstracts. He loves my art that is realistic. He likes my impressionistic florals a little bit but feels more comfy with realism. And I’m very fine with that. He’s always respectful and is happy if I’m happy. And I love all the genres I try. I’m a kid in a candy store wanting to try them all. But I’m now trying to control myself and paint a series and remain in a genere until I accomplish a body of work that I like. I’m 71 and having fun. Why not, right?
Your story is so relatable!! I feel we as artists, we do try so many things to see what we absolutely LOVE. I am so happy you are working in a series as once I focused on that, I felt I was really listening to what of all those things I tried, really connected with me!!! Thank you for your comment!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
thank you for watching and being a part of my journey June!!!
You are so easy to listen to and watch.
Thank you so much for that kind comment!! I appreciate it so much
@@CherylWilsonArt you're welcome.
I love your paintings! That's my style too!
THANK you!! I either do full on color!! or muted black and whites!! I appreciate your comment
Love your art, so awesome.
Thank you so much 😀
Bravaaa❤❤❤
Cheryl I just LOVE your videos! I am learning so much from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and techniques . You are my favourite artist on UA-cam. Please make more videos. I watch them over and over!
You are so welcome. I am so touched by your kind words. I try to keep them going as I love seeing other artists grow and if I can share some helpful things I am learning, that makes me happy. I have learned from others!!
I love your paintings! I am a watercolor artist and you are inspiring me to venture outside my comfort zone. Thank you. :-)
Acrylics are so much fun and offer so much texture. I’d love to see your new creations if you do!!! As the texture is different just be a bit risk taking … I’m trying watercolor now and enjoy it, but the intensity is different for me, it is like one is fine and delicate and one is messy and textured!!!!
Love this
thank you so much!! I appreciate your commenting and watching my channel
You are very good with your art .
Thank you Janet! Thank you for watching.
Bravo.
Thank you
thanks
Thank you!
This was a great inspiration
Thank you
thank you so much Kathy, that encourages me. I am trying to post one painting a week!!! I appreciate your commenting very much
@@CherylWilsonArt wow. That’s a lot videos. I love the yellow gold you are using. What is the golden color? I mostly work vertically but get on floor to splatter. I will need to try a horizontal approach. Great work
@@ocearlyriser thank you for your support in my videos!!! I almost ALWAYS use Golden paints. The yellows are both tubs and high flows and I use Hansa Yellow, Indian Yellow Hue and Cad Yellow, here is a nice chart of their colors.... i hope this helps. www.goldenpaints.com/products/colors/heavy-body
@@CherylWilsonArt Thanks. It's the Indian Yellow. I love that color. Can't really tell on the video
The music is frightful!!!!
thank you for watching Mary.
Loved it at every stage.
Thank you very much
I really enjoy your process. I just found your videos. 😁. What a delight! I have been getting into abstracts and you kind of answered a few of my questions I had floating around in my head. Thanks you.
THANK YOU for your comment. I try to put up videos of different things I try as an abstract artist. I play all the time. This week I should have a video up later this week on a NEW PROCESS you might like!!! "Dirty water" on paper!!
Beautiful ❤️. I love your videos please keep making them!!
thank you ... that helps. I love doing them and your comment helps encourage me
Great video!
thank you!!! I appreciate your support
Thank you for the video. I love the process and your explanations were so helpful. Even where you explain how everyone does not like abstract and how you even expressed it to your husband. Soooo insightful. At the end where you added tissue painted black. What do you use to make the tissue stick? Again thanks for the video. I will watch it again and again!
I almost always use Golden Gel Medium to make any tissue, papers, etc stick. Gold is a good brand and will ensure the painting has a quality finish. I notice many of my collectors put art in their bathrooms, so a good gel is a must. I hope that helps
Absolutely beautiful! So much fun to watch you create. Do you let the canvas dry in between layers? Also, do you varnish the finished canvas?
Yes, I let dry between layers. If I want some to mix I might on canvas but mostly I paint in areas where paint is dry or get a cup of coffee. I varnish with spray Matt varnish ! I’ve recently tried one coat of gloss to bring out color as acrylics are sometimes dull, then Matt as I like a Matt finish
Wonderful! Loved the colors. You always teach me something I wouldn't have thought of. ?? Can I use a good spray paint such as krylon, instead of the expensive art brands? Thank you so much ❤️.
Yes you can! People use all sorts of things these days. I am loving spray paint that is water based so I can use any time I want and not have to take the painting outside or breathe the fumes.
Was some of the white that you added during this exercise gesso other than the titanium white you said you used.
I rarely use gesso, but do on occasion.
You certainly can use the white gesso instead of the white paint Robert. However, if you are looking for a very fluid paint, the HIGH FLOW is really fluid. I like to use a combination of weights in my paints. Just my personal preference.
🤍💜💛
How can you do the same painting twice????
thank you for watching. I rarely do that same painting, but i might do paintings within a series.
OK... I like this one... Good job Cheryl...It's a mess but I like it... Yer colors are boring and amateurish but I like the way you work.. The music bed on this video is terrible. Why do all these abstract painters use piano music??? I have no idea... The final composition is way too busy... somehow though it holds together by a few threads.. So yeah... I like this one enough... It's way too overdone though... You Do You...
thank you for watching. This was done several years ago and my style has changed. I think this one is still in my inventory, I might have a go at bringing it into my style today.
Cheryl... I do like this piece but I think ya could have stopped earlier in the process. You are a very skilled painter who has a decent grip of abstraction.. Your grasp of composition is stellar. .. I've found it useful to work on more than one piece at a time so I don't cloud the concept... Thus my Crit... I wish you would replace the guitar music with something more interesting as yer art is better than that...
I'm so happy to share this moment with you and I hope ... in some way... my thoughts and ideas are considered.. anyway keep painting I look forward to leaving another dumb review soon...
@WilsonArt I
please tell me who you are perhaps? I am not sure what music you might suggest? I use a paid service.
