Thanks so much Cheryl. I’m learning so much from you. I started painting three yrs ago, during Covid, and after retirement. If it weren’t for tube and all the generous artists offering free instruction, I’d still be staring at a blank canvas! Sooo grateful.
Love the outcome of this painting. Its hard sometimes when we are trying to get past the ugly phase. As you say "keep going" we should never give up. 💙💜💚👍👍👍
Cheryl, thank you so much for taking us with you on the journey of this painting. I love your videos when you go from start to finish on a painting as always I learn so much from watching you. I think the painting is beautiful I love the chaos. And the uncontrolled marks it all comes together to create a beautiful piece of art. Thanks for sharing.
This one certainly was a journey wasn’t it I love the outcome and I love using that catalyst. Sometimes I forget to pull it out but when I do, it’s just like a good friend thank you so much for your comment and thank you for supporting me by watching my videos.
Cheryl thanks so much for sharing. I love how authentic you are about where you are in your life right now. Keep being real and you will continue to draw others to your channel!
Thank you so much for continuing to support my channel, watching my videos and leaving such a wonderfully kind comments I hope what I share is helpful to inspire other artist to create
Hi Cheryl from New Zealand. New subscriber❤ I was drawn to your colours. I'm relatively new to painting and discovering techniques and have decided I like abstract. Look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you for your kind comment. I do appreciate you watching my video. I know it takes time to stop and take a moment to comment on a video and I am really appreciate it.
Thank you so much! Your comment made me smile thank you so much. Your words are so sweet the torn series still remains a painting style that I will forever. The meaning behind this series of paintings was that meaningful to me. I really enjoy painting my abstract paintings, but paintings in a series bought such depth to my art
Hi Cheryl this is my second video I’m watching of yours. I’ve subscribed. I’m just becoming interested in different types of abstract art. I’m enjoying your expressionism abstract . Thank you for sharing and taking the time to make and post your videos.
just s0o much here to learn and think about. thankyou for your generosity in sharing so that others can use. hope all those issues get mentally resolved to your satisfaction. u mention your age at one point. if its any comfort u r wearing better than me! 😄life throws stuff at you and of course it shows in your artistic preoccupations. I am heavily into red back and white at the moment in my work. says it all! best r
Thank you Robert for your continued support of me as an artist. I do hope what I share is helpful for others to create. I take a lot of risks and find that helpful for me. Thank you for the comment about wearing.... I am learning to embrace not being 20ish!!! haha. All test are showing good, but we do need to take care of ourself, right!!
Thank you for sharing your paintings, your process, and tips. I'm so inspired to get painting; just beginning. 🙂 Looking forward to more of your tutorials. Thank you!
Cheryl, I'm so glad you mentioned the Golden line of paint that you use, because I was out of Thalo Blue and Crimson and decided to try Golden. I'm so amazed with the improved feel and ease of movement that I'm going to replace any colors that I have to buy with Golden. Thanks!
I just found you today! And sooo thrilled I did. This is a gorgeous painting and I'm so thrilled you made a video about it. I'm going to watch it over and over and over again. Great content!!
it is mainly a feeling. at the beginning most might get covered up, but it is fun to do and gets me started. In the middle it might be to take me from a point of getting stuck to moving on and it always does. If I add in the end and I almost always add in words of some sort, for me it is my mark. It becomes a way for you to own your paintings. I tell other artists when they start to keep a sheet of marks they find they LOVE and use those marks during the creating of the painting. Like I love circles, I love using black and white marks, I love writing the word emotion or emotions backwards so will repeat these marks over and over it my art.
To be honest I loved the painting in its early minimal stages it was way more powerful. The finished Artwork looks really like a mark making exercise that has gotten way too chaotic. Just my opinion. But I suppose I just love simplicity.
i can understand that!! This might be a painting I veil back a bit to bring out more value differences. I so much appreciate your comment and subscribing to my channel!!
I used in these black and white painting golden titanium white and black . I always use high flow whites and then all where blended!! Does that answer your question? I’m actually in the er in Florida!!!! Haha, so went from recollection!! If you need more I’ll look at the video to ensure I captured what you needed!
Well I woke up today feeling so much better. I have so many things I wanna do I’m working on abstract in Landscapes for UA-cam so I’m so glad you feel better. I’m up in the panhandle of Florida and it hot sticky but absolutely beautiful. Thanks for your well wishes. I’m so much better.
Blue towels are the blue shop towels they are incredible to use in pressing down the paint on our canvas. On the canvas in the wet, you will see me using the blue shop towels quite a bit in my art especially when the pain is wet and I want to mat down the paint and it gives a beautiful incredible finish cause it pulls up some layers and leaves a beautiful Underneath layer
thank you for watching. I am working a a better camera, but am not there yet. When I do larger pieces, it is harder for me to keep using what I have now. But thank you for watching.
Love it. I know how you’re feeling. I think we all go thru being torn at times. Thank the Lord it passes in time. 👍🏼🥰
So true! it is funny, this week my numbers are up, I just think the algorithm is something we cannot figure out.
It was so great to hear all your thoughts, emotions, explanations - it really explained what the journey is about.
thank you so much susan, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment

Loved it! Noticed you sometimes make marks at different stages, beginning, middle, end, or, not at all. How do you decide?

What colors are you using for the base painting.
