After being fired from his job, Los Angeles slacker and punk rocker Otto (Emilio Estevez) lands a gig working for an eccentric repossession agent named Bud (Harry Dean Stanton). At first, Otto is reluctant to work as a repo man, but he grows to love the fast-paced job. After learning of a Chevy Malibu that has been given a $20,000 price tag, Otto embarks on a quest to find the car with the beautiful Leila (Olivia Barash), who claims the trunk's contents are otherworldly
The "ska band" that you see in the scene where Otto attempts to repossess the old lady's car is The Untouchables, a band that was very popular in the early 80's LA mod revival, and played in the LA music scene through the 80's and 90's. I was in a band that played with them several times in the early 80's.
Let's Go Get Sushi And Not Pay! I love it
One of my favorite movies growing up, glad somebody else did too, when to talk to the "normies about", they have no idea what I'm talkin about, thank you, 80s life.
Great update Kurt! Repo Man is one of the best distillations of SoCal punk ever put to film.
What a great soundtrack as well. My first introduction to the Plugz, a great underated punk band!
They're so good!
I have it on vinyl. Bought it after I saw the movie a few months after it came out. I still listen to it when in the old punk mood 🤘🏻
Thanks for the video. Classic movie.
HI KURT ,, YES THAT WAS MY RONS STORE ,,HA!! ON SUNSET .. GREAT SHOTS OF THE STREETS AND BUILDING ,,THE GUY IN THE DARK GREEN CHEVY CAR WHEN AUTO WAS WALKING HE LATER WAS IN THE MOVIE CHRISTINE THE COP ..YA!! BUDS IN THE CAR SHUTTING OFF THE CAR .. GREAT VIDEO AGAIN,,.. HAPPY 4TH!!!
Well done again!
Great video. I love this movie so much🇮🇪
Thanks for the video update and your hard work!! 👍👍
I remember Ron's Supermarket in East Hollywood back in the day! 😊
Old memories!
Thank you.
Love this movie
Not sure if you're a physical media guy, but the Criterion Blu Ray for this film is amazing. I watched this movie a hundred times on cable and VHS in 4:3 aspect ratio. Seeing it in widescreen with a good home theater set up was like watching a different film. There's also a ton of great extras.
I regret having sold my numbered, limited edition tin shaped like a license plate. The CC sounds great as well.
@@hatednycI still have mine but I made it into a “cigar box” guitar.
super👍
Awesome work as always! Repo Man is one of my faves, also a favorite of a friend who is no longer with us. He would have loved to see this video.
Awesome work kurt! 📼 80s4life
That's a switch, more homeless in the 80s movie than today.😉 Another amazing match-up time travel adventure. 👍👍
Who remembers Generic food?
"cola"
“Put it on a plate, son - you’ll enjoy it more.”
Saw a first one, now the updated version. Big thanks Kurt, that was anawesome video! Repo men is not the best but it's kinda classic to me.
Yeah, you're not the only one. The film is in the Criterion Collection. It's is a beloved film made by a well respected director. A certified cult classic.
Watched it last time and watched it this time. Great job brother. Thanks for the awesome content!
Nice work as usual sir 👍
AWESOME!!!💯
Epic, new benchmark high point video Kurt!!
👏👏👏👍☝️🤙
Kurt that was awesome great job. The pace of the video is great because you move from location to location and keep it interesting. I remember Repo Man all too well I used to watch it whenever it came on HBO at my dad’s place back in ‘84-85. I used to love when I’d see come on late between 11 and 1 am , it was always a classic you could watch over and over.
Can’t we go back to the ‘80’s? I miss it man. Thanks Kurt. ✌️

I’d love to see otto’s parents’ house although I think they were all interior shots.
I love those scenes.
As an 80s punk rock kid, I of course had the soundtrack and practically memorized the script. Thanks for putting this together.
My pleasure. Thank you!
One of my favorite movies! Thank you
Nice friends you have there Otto.
Thanks. I made them myself.
Another awesome video Kurt!👍
One of my all time favorite movies.
Makes you realize how much LA has changed since then. Not really for the better either. I miss the old LA
I’m from the east coast but I was thinking the same thing. So much has changed and been replaced with sh*t.
Rose colored glasses my friend. I miss less people and less traffic but the areas this film was shot in are objectively better than they were back in the day. Nostalgia has people forgetting how violent and dangerous LA was in the '80s.
@@mjwbulich The danger and edginess made it cool. Now it’s boring. There were many cool things too especially for us growing up in that time.
At 14:28, you completely missed a chance to point out the front entrance to Paddy's Pub from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia! In any case, I loved this movie as a kid and happy to see you making TWO locations videos about it.
I knew I wouldn’t be the only one to see that.
Brilliant this Kurt as always, love this film brings back some memories, and I love all the hard work you do to find these locations. Absolutely fantastic. Look forward to the next one
Correction. He was singing TV Party with wrong lyrics.
Fantastic video Kurt really enjoyed it you did a great job finding those places really well done 👍
80s life is always intense.
Haha👍……Cmon let’s get a drink!
Saw this movie as a kid in the theaters, and was mindblown. TBH i wanned to be a repo man to, only they dont had them in my country, still dont.
I couldn't count how many times I've seen Repo Man but a realistic number would be closer to 60. It was one of my favorite movies growing up during the 80s so much appreciation for you taking all the time and research to bring us this presentation.
gotta love them 80s!💖💜❤🧡💚🤎💯👍!
REPO MAN's always INTENSE!
Great Movie, great Soundtrack. I first saw this as a young teen when it aired on HBO. Bought the soundtrack in high school, and have had a little tree air freshener hanging from my mirror for the last 34 years. Awesome video once again!
Repo Man is by far one of the GREATEST cult classics of all time…….and SO quotable!
Thanks so much for the filming locations repo man was a hard one as so much of the filming locations have been transformed you did a great job keep the great work up love your channel 👍
Thank you. It was a tough one, but a fun one as well
The Repo Man was awesome. It featured two songs from the Latino punk band “ The Plugz “. They later became “ Tito & Tarantula which they appeared in the movie Dusk Till Dawn. They were the band that performed at the bar in Salma Hayek famous dance scene
I meant to say the Repo man sound track was awesome
Oh, that's cool, I didn't realize that was the same 2 bands.
And Tito was on the stage version of Pee Wee's Playhouse , filmed at the Roxy.
Oh my gosh! He was Hammy. He was also Oscar in Born in East LA. I had no idea
I love this movie . One of the first I rented in the VHS era. The punk songs are great too, with highlights for Iggy Pop and Black Flag!
Circle Jerks!
my fav movie
The guard is also in Blood In Blood Out. He’s Real Thing. Clavo’s trigger man. “Quien es este guero?”
I love this movie. Criminally underated.
Absolutely! Thank you for watching
Incidentally, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more detailed look at film locations then what you presented in your Repo Man episode! AWESOME job Kurt!🙌🏻
Of all those Downtown L.A shots, my old Loft building did not make the cut.
912 E. 3rd street. Unit 404. June 1988 until early fall.
The building is on the back cover of a Stray Cats album.
And in the Lou Farigno movie "Caged ", there is a car crash scene, my Red Nissan truck is in the shot.
Yes!
The soundtrack album/cd is still one of my favorites and also introduced me to some of the bands!
Killer video Kurt. This movie takes me back to be a kid in early 80's. They had this movie on HBO back then. saludos
My dad was born in one of those duplex is right there on the corner of 23rd and Stanford…in 1933
I saw this in the cinema on release in UK in 1985 it stayed with me ever since 40 years ago!!! I've wanted to watch it again for years so I just watched it for the second time time I enjoyed it so much it was better than I thought. Thank you for posting this video I really enjoyed it.
This rules
This video was Intense! 80’s Life is always intense.
That was awesome!! I’m a lifelong fan of the movie, and am in LA a lot for work. What a treat to see this. Nice job with the research!
Truly a "punk rock" movie. Great songs by the likes of The Circle Jerks and Suicidal Tendencies. However, the Jerks bassist Zander Schloss said Emilio Estevez, while a competent actor, was not a punk and had no knowledge about the music whatsoever.
Keep on punkin', though Kurt!
👍
My favorite 80s movie ✌️
My favorite movie ever. I used to work at a bar called Villains Tavern in the arts district, on Palmetto and Santa Fe. I was always convinced that was where the repo yard was. I might just be wishful thinking though lol.
Was that the drag queen bar on the corner? I went to a few warehouse parties at 7th / Santa Fe. ( the 80's) .
Outstanding video!
FWIW, I’m 80% sure that at the time of filming, the Nate Starkman building (@15:35 or so) was partly occupied by Savage Republic leader Bruce Licher’s post punk/indie record label Independent Project Records and his letterpress/design business. They released great vinyl by Savage Republic, 100 Flowers (Urinals), Human Hands, Camper Van Beethoven, et al. Usually printed on very distinctive brown cardboard stock, instantly recognizable in shops.
"You ever feel as if your mind is starting to erode?"
I miss 80’s LA 😪
Thank you ,from a Michael Nesmith fan. ( He was Executive Producer on this movie)
Just saw it earlier today at The New Beverly on 35mm. It was totally awesome 😎🕺
Great investigative work. Great movie.
12:40 that bat is The Satellite at 1717 Silver Lake Blvd. I used to go there.
Another great video 📸 loved this movie 🎥 cheers from the UK for showing us these places 🙏🏻🙏🏻💯
it's crazy man, how much has changed and how much is the same. I love southern california.
Maaaan, your videos are just the best.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that!!
Repo Man Lives!
***** Much Respects.....
This is fantastic. THANK YOU!!
Once again you delivered!! I HAVE A DIFFICULT & CHALLENGING ONE FOR YOU: the movie Secret Admirer. Very underrated 80's movie :) Thank you for listening to my suggestion about One of the Guys!!
I like that Otto is drinking "beer" brand beer 🍺🤭
This was cool!!!!
Great!!
Make one on American Me........
That’s also Patty’s Pub from Always Sunny. 14:30
I love your videos. You should do My Chauffeur, another great 80's movie.
Yessss!
Did they film the car chase scene from terminator at lower Grand too? The lighting looks similar!😊
This is one movie I’ve barely seen or watched; maybe clips here there!!
Nice
Done!
great video - i looked up some of those exact same locations on google street view
" plate; shrimp, plate 'o shrimp"
Excellent research and video. Am currently in Goffs show at the very beginning of the movie when pulled over by the policeman. Looking for the boots…
Not sure if you've already done it Kurt, but I'd love to see a location vid of the classic documentary "THEY LIVE"
Love the channel. You should make vids for “Midnight Run” and “Blade Runner”
Ever do a filming location episode for Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?
Great channel btw. Saw you filming a couple months ago at Ventura Bl and Lindley Ave
I also seen that security guard play a bar patron in the beginning of Every Which Way But Loose.
Ever since this channel started doing this I never realized how so many locations are recycled throughout popular movies.
The Rodriquez Bros Falcon looks like Freddie’s from Summer School
There is a great film from the 1970s called “the long goodbye “ in the Los Angeles area . The Supermarket looks identical to the repo man one
I wonder if it’s the same one
But watch that film !
Should also mention that 544 Mateo is also Paddy’s Pub from Sunny.
Kurt, enjoy your uploads and skits. Side note much improved with video effects when I started following years back. Awesome job !
I’m going to see this movie at the New Beverly, Tarantino’s theater. Film print, not digital bull shit. I absolutely cannot fucking wait!!!👽
Like #900
Another cool video of LA! Any chance you could do a video for “mi Vida loca” in Echo Park?
