One of my favorites from the 90s, a very underrated and not well known movie with a TON of great actors. Thank you for putting the work in on this one! Every time I hear Outshined i think of the mob/Floyd scene in this movie.

Thank you for the great video and stroll down memory lane. I was fortunate to be living/ running around Hollywood during the late 80’s thru 2000’s. In many ways was a golden age to be there but during those early 90’s was a slew of solid films. True Romance one of my favorites. Just 92-94 you had Reservoir Dogs, Tombstone, True Romance, Clerks, Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers. Not to mention other great independent and blockbusters. Thank you again. Swingers would be a good one although it hits some of the clubs you’ve visited before. 🙏🏻 well done

I love this, and the fact you found the billboard location and window is just amazing! I no idea they shot the Pasadena scenes in that former hotel. I was just in Pasadena scouting the Halloween spots and father of the bride house.

Super cool! I was following around on maps again! True Romance had a slew of really good performances which made it such a winner! For me, Bronson Pinchot as Elliot was the best performance in the movie! He and Gary Oldman have to be the most well rounded actors in the world. There is no role they can't take on!

I love this movie and I definitely need to revisit it and I really thought there were more Detroit spots like the theater but I was wrong and all these years I thought that and I wish I was able to visit sights like this in Detroit as it's my home town but I'm handicap and these days I can't do much. This was awesome and I really enjoy videos like this.

I was actually there when they filmed parts of True Romance. I was staying in the hotel across the street (where Coast Anabelle hotel is) for a couple days. When we returned to the hotel one late afternoon / early evening, we saw the side streets lined with trucks and equipment. When we walked around the front found out they were filming a movie, later found out to be True Romance. We were able to see them filming some of the scenes where the Caddy was under the carport. Because I have never seen the movie, I don't know if the scenes I saw them filming made the final cut or not. What I remember seeing was several takes where the Caddy was sitting under the carport, and staff would start to bounce the Caddy vigorously to make it appear like it came to a rapid stop in the film. Was cool to see and watch..

Great video, did you actually go to Magic Mountain to film the location just for this video or did you film footage for multiple videos such as Encino Man, National Lampoons Vacation? How long does it take you to make a video like this for you? Just curious. You are doing a great job! Keep it up.

I remember staying a week at the Safari Motor Inn in Burbank California back in 1994. It was actually a decent motel, down across the street from NBC studios where The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson / Jay Leno use to be filmed.

Just recently found your channel and have been binging your videos. As an 80s kid from the Midwest that's always loved the West Coast and movis, your filming location vids are like crack lol. But there's one thing I noticed in this one. The address of the Beverly Ambassador was replaced. The new one is in a different font and is now lit. Keep em coming, though. And the replicas that were made for you are so rad. That Gleaming The Cube Mike McGill board is dope.

If you search "Krotona Apartments" and "True Romance," you'll come across an old L.A. Times article which states that's where the Floyd apartment was filmed. That's also where the Tarantino couch story comes from. The guy who owns the car has also stated he has the original call sheets, which confirm that's where the apartment scene was shot. Maybe he'd provide it to you upon request. He shared other call sheets in the past, which identified locations like the opening bar and Drexl's interior.

Love this flick. Have a weird history with it as well. I was in the Navy and stationed in Long Beach California when it came out and took a bus from the base over the Vincent Thomas Bridge to get to the movie theater in town to watch it. Years later, that's the same bridge the director, Tony Scott jumped from.
