Let's all appreciate the Time and Effort he took to please us all. Nostalgic!
One of my favourite films of all time. Excellent ensemble cast, great soundtrack. Brilliant cinematography - the opening shot starts across the street, pans across the road and follows Jack into the club and introduces all the main characters, and it's one long shot that lasts for nearly 3 minutes. The recreation of the era, including the difference between the 70s and the 80s, is pure nostalgia. I will never get tired of watching this film. "That's not an MP that's a YP! Your problem!!" 🤣
As always, another outstanding job again! You had me rolling when you did the re-enactments of Dirk, putting your leg up on the railing by the steps! Ha ha! And to this day, I can’t but help to think of this movie when I hear “Sister Christian.” Those firecrackers going off too - priceless! Thanks for doing this.
The firecracker scene is my favorite part. It was just so random to have a half naked Asian throwing firecrackers.
Dude! Your ending was classic. Thanks for putting this together for us.
I love, love love your videos..... especially this one !! I spent , at least, every other week at the Country Club for the BEST concerts of my life every other week. I saw X , Fear, Tina Turner when she just had her new solo album and left Ike ... all music industry people, Stray Cats, B52's ... as you can see I'm older than you but it was so cool .... seems like yesterday....... keep them coming.
Easily one of my top 5 movies of all time. Great video as always!
Boogie Nights great movie of late 90s. Hard to believe turns 25th years old this October. You’re pure 80s with that Members only jacket. Rest Easy Burt Reynolds
good job, best video yet; Boogie Nights is one of my favorite movies
You had me literally laughing out loud doing the Dirk poses!
Thank you for this video. Great job.
Great job! 👍👍 Great video documenting as usual!
Yes, it's always sad to see the old places not being there anymore! The nostalgia is gone! 😟
The scene where Roller Girl, Jack and camera man Kurt are filming out of a limo(The Colonel's limo and driver) and run into an ex-classmate of Roller Girl is classic. The ex-classmate doesn't want to say his name, but then admits his goes to CSUN(Cal State University Northridge) cracks me up as I was attending CSUN(See Sun as it's called by locals) during the timeline in the film(1983-84). The way they kick the you know what out of that student was brutal but, somehow, satisfying(in a strange way).
Great video, come 'em coming!
Love the Members Only jacket with the pager in pocket. Had em both. 🤣
From 7:11 seconds to 7:58, that montage is the pedestrian bridge that runs parallel to Colfax Ave in Studio City, crossing the LA river just north of Ventura Blvd.
I worked at CBS Studio Center ( on the west side of Colfax) from 1981 to 2017.
I used to go running at lunch on the dirt access roads on the north and south sides of the river.
Also, saw the Jazz Crusaders ( Joe Sample, Wilton Felder and Stic Hooper) at The Country Club in 1983. It was a great venue.
I'm a few decades older that you Kurt, and a Westside boy until I bought my first house in Canoga Park in 1979, but I truly appreciate you documenting what you remember,
what still exists,
and what only lives in our memories.
You keep sharing
and I'll keep watching.
In gratitude,
RV
🙏
Another super fresh pajama jammy jam joint‼️ The outro song made my hips involuntarily thrust to the beat 💥🤯💣🥳🤸♀️
Kurt, thank you for NOT pulling it out in the end. ; ) Keep up the good work!
The ending was Great! Big bright shinning star..and you are a star on UA-cam 👍
For whatever reason this particular vlog among the various ones that you have done is more emblematic of the SFV not only of the 70s (in the context of the movie taking place) but of the 90s when it was being filmed. Great Job !!
A lot of it STILL looks the same, as much as what has changed since I moved out of Northridge in 2002. My parents still live in their same house in Porter Ranch that we moved to from Chicago in '79 when I was 10 years old, so I have been to the Valley numerous times since moving out, including this past week.
Kurt: You are just getting better and better at these. Some of the research, position reenactments, etc. are just exceptional. I really enjoyed this one since it is very personal. I worked behind the European Style seafood counter at that Von's on Sherman Way. If you came in for lobster in 1986-87 I probably waited on you. Crazy, right? It just reminded me of when I lived in Reseda. I saw the Jimi Hendrix movie at the Reseda Theatre. We used to shop at a JC Penney in that neighborhood. Unlike today, all the stores are right on the street for their frontage and there are these huge parking lots in back , also an alley. This was old style layout that is still there. The parking behind the Vons and what is now a 99 cent store is just huge and never full.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. And trust me I know exactly what you mean. That entire area brings back so many memories and feelings.
True movie classic and stunning locations. Thanks for this video, greetz from the Netherlands.
Great job lining those shots up.
omg.. Yes!! but Dupares is gone?? Super bummer. My Uncle would took me there after taking me to watch Ghostbusters in 1984. Then would take me every time my mom would drop me off in studio city with grandparents. We would rent videos from Tower Records and he would show me movies where filmed there like Valley Girl. Then we would go back so he showed that he wasn't lying. Lol a side note, hes the uncle that encouraged me to get into music and learn every instrument I could because he thought I had incredible natural ability. He was right. :) Thx again for the great video, Kurt.
I heard Dupars really went downhill in its last few years, as have many places I loved as a kid.
@@centuryrox Damn, thats too bad. I wonder if Bob's Big Boy stood the test of time.
Woo Hoo!! Love, love, love Boogie Nights! I especially loved when you posed like Dirk (aka Brock Landers).......thanks for another amazing video, Curt!
Great vlog man! AND you gave us the tour rockin’ a members only jacket! Yes!!
Great video Kurt and excellent work finding the locations. Boogie Nights is a classic SFV movie . 👍
Kurt you’re killing it with

Your content keeps getting better and better.
Awesome, Thank You✌️💖🙏
Excellent job again Kurt. Very enjoyable and entertaining video. Thank you!
Amazing channel. I didn't grow up in Cali but am an 80s kid.
OMG the last scene! 🤣🤣
Really don't know how you match these tiny details like the A/C unit in the background. Incredible eye and research ability. When you start Google Earth-ing stuff I bet your GPU fans start kicking dust. haha
You're the man, Kurt!
Great video! So well done! Keep on rocking! I grew up in Arleta and had no idea that this was where they shot the scene with Buck's Stereo shop.
I love this movie
Fantastic Video Kurt Thank You I really Enjoyed it very much.
Awesome video! Thank you for it.. Gotta say…that opening shot with the sideways camera tilt to the Reseda sign is iconic!
Very cool. One of my favorite movies
And now the 1990s are as nostalgic as the late 70s earlys 80s they were depicting in the movie.
Amazing detail as always
My favorite movie unquestionably. Thank you for putting this together.
Nice work 👍🏼
This is a great movie with an all star cast of top notch actors and the cinematography is a true film masterpiece good choice for a film location video
The recording studio scene is hilarious that’s our magic on those tapes
I haven't seen this film since the cinema. Again Kurt awesome location film as usual, keep em coming, and can't wait for the next upload 🙂
This was great to watch. Lovedi t.

If you haven’t seen this movie you are in for a treat, this is a top ten best ‘90s movie and one of the most underrated movies ever.
So great! My favorite movie!
Fantastic video!! I love the movie, and it was great to see this overview of the various locations. Really well done!!
Another outstanding video. You really got a knack for this! I am beyond upset dupars, I had no idea! That was the go to spot and they had the best pie. I still go to the one in vegas for nostalgia sake.
Your film location videos are by far the best available. Please keep up the great work
So awesome, great movie and great video!
Great video, classic movie. keep it up!
Awesome video man. Love the movie. Thanks for sharing all of these locations. Great work.
Another great video my friend.Love it
Nostalgia is the word you are searching for to describe your feelings in regards to the Roller Rink Sign.
The movie really captures the late 70's - 80's
I can't believe the movie itself is already 25 years old tbh.
Perfect timing. Hello from San Diego. Thank you for all the hard work.
Is that a Members Only jacket?
Love all the editing and pace overall. The guy working the camera and yourself 80s really are on the same page. Subbed ...G...
I loved going to hardcore shows at The Country Club in the 80s.
There 's also a great documentary called "Sound City" directed by Dave Grohl.
Great job ad usual maybe you should change the name to 80s/90s life this way you can do both decades 😉
It was my birthday yesterday and to celebrate, we visited 17 PT Anderson locations ! So many of these amazing boogie nights ones! (Wish I would have seen your video first because I had Buck’s store and Rahad’s house slightly wrong!)
Thank you for doing my request!
I love that movie. It's always sad to see how much everything has changed. Great video like always 👌🏻
Totally loved this one. Boogie Nights is one of my favorite movies and you really did a fantastic job here. I actually just rewatched the movie a couple of weeks ago and actually thought about you 80's Life. I knew you grew up in this area and figured you had some deep feelings about this one. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work man!
Great work !!
I worked as assistant manager at Rent-A-Center on Sherman Way for several months. I left to work at AMC Theatres, and was surprised to see the Rent-A-Center neon light in the scene where Eddie (Mark Wahlberg) was working as a, um, working man in the parking lot across the street, lol. I recall going to the Country Club a lot and Bebop Records (not in the film, but the outside was seen in the opening scene), and the roller-skating rink, etc. I remember the Winchell's Donuts they used in the shootout scene, and I think I remember the stereo shop location. Fast forward to the film Licorice Pizza, and Paul Anderson managed to include quite a lot of the Valley in that movie.
AMAZING.. THANKS BRO!!
Epic Member's Only jacket!!!!!!!
Great job!
Owning the house Jack lived at would be a trip to own. Imagine having all your friends over for a Boogie Nights party. Radical.
Definitely. And considering it looks the same.
I’m moving out of state soon, but as I was watching this, I said my myself, I’d be willing to stay in California if I could buy this house.
Jack's house is in West Covina CA, off Cameron Ave, Grand
