My wife and I rescued an Alabai from a shelter in Ukraine a year ago. He is now 4 years old, and his flock includes the humans of the house, the other dogs, the house cats, and our vet.
I laughed at the "and our vet" 😊😍
And the vet😂 that's precious
Love to see what he'd make of a Tegu, Pallas lizards, Cornsnakes, Hognose and a small swarm of Mourning Geckos..
most honest answer ive heard , ''depends on the dog and depends on the wolf''
wow! am surprised you have just said the exact thing I wanted to say. It's very true, all are just Dogs, all fight only using their mouths
But let's be honest bro like fr most healthy timber wolves smashes a domestic dog. I've been on the dog side for years and it is dumb. They take down moose, bison and musk ox. Wolves are literal KILLING Machines. So no I dont think but they can in certain circumstances take down a wolf.
It really ends up in the hands of the handler to. But I totally agree with you.. The animals are very unpredictable.
depends on the Wolf. a timber wolf would eat this dog in minutes without breaking a sweat. most wolves in Asia are smaller and often malnourished compared to timber wolves.
@Bolushi dude I'm from America. The male can reach up to 175lbs. Good day sir!
So many breeds do not belong in the hands of people who just want a pet. On the other hand, these same working dogs deserve loving owners.
I don't see why people get a dog and can't take care of it.
I had Bull Mastiff and they showed well. They died of old age and it's took me a long time to want another dog but now I'm ready for another best friend and buddy.
In Kazakhstan everyone in the village owns at least one alabai. They are really chill, nice dogs love em
I have never seen a dog that looks so confident and without insecurities demeanor.
These breed knows that they are strong to have this confidence.
I was very surprised when we first got my baby at how aware he is of his size, especially when indoors. He absolutely knows how big he is. Which is especially cute when he play fights with our much smaller dogs, getting down and letting them bite his ears
I grew up with an Alabai, Ben (rip). An AMAZING family member. Definitely requires a strong hand to learn their place. But, as they are "scary", they are also extremely smart, fun and gentle. Very protective of their "family".
I love how honest the guys are they just love the dog and want to share how they are.
Thank you
Alabai is at the root of the large breed tree. I have owned both Kangal and Alabai. Alabai is hands down the most loyal dog I have ever owned.
I'm in Virginia do you still have puppies
Thats interesting to know that the Alabai was more loyal than the Kangal, I thought they'd both be the same. Thanks for sharing.
Great video x
No one I’ve run across with my Alabai has ever seen one before. Some are terrified but most want to run up to him and hug him.it’s good to educate people about their personalities. My big guy is exactly as you described, friendly if I’m with him and he can see I’m calm, extremely defensive if I’m not home or if he sees me get nervous. They are definitely not a dog for beginner dog owners! My poor guy went through 4 homes here in the UK before I rescued him! They are not big Labradors which is what most think mine is!
Can u tell why he is not recommended for begginer dog owners.. Are they dangerous to master?
@@kukukuku524 if someone has no experience in training a dog or how dogs think & behave (eg a beginner owner), they will struggle to train them to obey commands and to have the dog realise they (the owner) is the alpha. By nature the breed wants to make decisions for themselves and wants to be alpha. I don’t think they are biters by nature, but with a dog of this weight/size and bite force, if not trained properly they could accidentally hurt someone. Mine is very docile with me but even I’m usually covered in bruises just from his sheer weight when he’s playing with me.
Same here at ours x
Your alabai wants to hug people with it's jaws.
Wow! I had never heard of this breed. What a beauty! 🐕
Have u been living under a rock?
@@jondough4682 well, if I saw this enormous dog, I would be hiding under a rock too
One of the most ancient breeds there is & happened thru natural selection
Where are you from?
@@wisenotwise2676 lmfao 💀
Turkic tribes were nomads who moved from north east china to europe. They had flocks and they used sheppard dogs to protect themselves against predators.
So Kangal, Akbash, Malakli, Anatolian Sheppard Dogs and Alabai they are all coming from central Asia. And moved to west with Turkic migration to west.
Altai is not in north east china
@@LalaLa-ze7kvThe Altai is a mountain range that stretches through several countries including China.
Well done!
Showing this breed in a positive light
Theyre quite serious dogs
But don’t hold that against them, they select their friends.
My alabai lets 2 people show him affection as for the others? tread lightly
High compliment if youre accepted by alabai not in immediate family
Such a great breed
These men are so knowledgeable about the breed. Honest about the chances vs a wolf too. Beautiful countryside location too.
A truly gentle dog.. it's natural instinct to herd and protect is outstanding.. had the pleasure of seeing this breed in Texas
That Alabai who lives with pet lions and tigers is awesome and so huge. He's big enough to play with them without getting hurt left and right. Granted, they love him a lot.
they have a facial expression of laid back super chill especialy those eyes.
My family had two beautiful Alabai when I was a child, such dedicated and loving guardians. They looked similar to the solid white dog in this video - if I recall right, this is the Turkmenistan variety
I wish more and more ppl watch your episodes coz they're highly educational and informative, keep spreding the knowledge so our four legged friends will start havin better lives the more ppl know bout dogs, thank you for your dedication mrs svenska
These are such amazing dogs, Anneka! Big doggie clouds that are fierce and need a very steady hand, as well. Thank you for showing us these amazing Alabais.
One of the most courageous dogs ever!
Quite unusual about this dog is their life span.....most huge dogs have quite short life span, but this breed lives as long as most other breeds. 12 - 15 years or so.
Same with kangal, 14 years or more.
12-15 is higher then most breeds, golden retriever 10-12 german Shepard and Rottweiler are like 8-12
Yep. Our Alabai girl lived for 16 years and when she felt she's about to die she went to mountains to die there alone. Extremely intelegent, only couldn't speak.
@@bigshorty4855 Thank God. I just got my girl.
@@LalaLa-ze7kv Were you able to find her?
I love all breeds and all animals. I also have 2 dobermans, a huge german shepherd, mini dachshund, 5 bengals, 15 pygmy goats, 40 peking ducks, 20 geese, 200+ koi.. Our pups are so good with our animals and kids and family. It’s all in how your raising your animals. Doesn’t matter the animal, it’s all up to the persons raising these beautiful animals to be the perfect animals we know they can be. I love how they’re taking this fighting breed and turning them to the perfect family dog. Well done. These babies are gorgeous.. Love seeing them interact during the filming. Awesome footage.
and a partridge in a pear tree
Alabai is one of the best dogs of Asia and they can also be very good family dogs lb ur videos
Lb from Pakistan 🇵🇰😝
I love that you pick my favorite breeds for this amazing show. Thank you so much. I just love you. You’re awesome.
These dogs are the closest physiologically to the first dogs domesticated by ice age hunter gatherers
No, First dogs were Just like smaller wolves with shorter theets and limbs
@@davideghirelli5856 There are in japan figures of dogs thousands of year’s ago and they looked somehow similar to Japanese Akita’s today. Typical curled tail, pointed ears and short snout. Maybe there we’re various lineages of doggies.
I am a happy mum of one, 73cm tall and 57kg of weight. An absolute protective sweetheart!
You’re doing gods work, educating people about what we call in Glasgow “devil dugs.” All dogs are amazing angels if given the chance, unless they’re specifically bred for another 😢reasonable reason… it’s the a-holes out there who should be legally answerable and should be met with harsher sentences. Thank you Anneka!
Unfortunately Alan, these same a-holes breed themselves, so any accountability for legally being answerable for their crimes against irresponsible "breeding" is pretty much moot 😔
@@geriawright1292 I couldn’t agree more
Well..you mean like the a-holes she visited in this episode who don't socialize these dogs lol
Valid point. My Caucasian ovcharka is a sweetheart
by harsher sentences you mean death penalty, agreed
I’ve owned Caucasian Ovcharkas and I now have a huge Alabai baby - 9 months old - and I’m amazed how sweet and calm he is. The COs are very different, independent and a bit cold. The Alabai is as sweet as a Lab.
CO are very ferocious dogs they chose one person as a master ,alabai more family dog
@@user-rq6mh2ug2i I think you are right. I loved my CO but he was a handful. My Alabai is super calm.
Reminds me of my old anatolians at the ranch. Xerxes and Xena. You are not forgotten and will always be missed.
These guys really know their stuff and are honest about the pros and cons of these great dogs. We just adopted a young female and she is friendly, curious and funny. Most of all she adores our rescue male Caucasian. Wonderful dogs, but not for the uninitiated. Try a few Great Pyrenees first, as a more gentle intro to flock guardians.
Awesome episode Anneka ,as always. THANK YOU for Everything you do. Also sharing your Passion for the dogs. 💕👍🤘😎🤘Up the Irons 🤘
Glad the gentleman shared about how great true LSG breeds are with kids. My Caucasian for all her protective drive is the best dog I have ever had with my kids.
Houaaaa That's my dream dog , the real Alabai ! Thank you ..He has a particular face and that's what make it easy to recognize him , soo beautiful, favourite episode
the little baby's floppy ears are so adorable
Finally you got to meet an Alabai and pet and hug him/her ❤️❤️❤️❤️. It's a very beautiful dog. Plz make more videos on this. ❤️❤️❤️
The best security dog
Another amazing episode!! Great work and being someone who loves Livestock guardians, these dogs are superb quality. I still believe that novice owners should never be allowed to own such dogs as they take a lot of experience and best to have plenty of space. Keep up the amazing and inspirational work
Agreed!!
This is huge dog. Beautiful yet tough breed.
Look at the one who is best friends with tigers and lions, he is so big you at first think the cats are sub-adult because they are only twice his size lol
Lovely well mannered dogs. So beautiful, I’m jealous of those puppy kisses.
Another beautiful breed!!!!!
THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION ABOUT THESE AMAZING DOGS.
PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Fantastic video as always Anneka! This is a beautiful breed, very strong and big, they are very good sheperds but at same time are also gentle giant and sweet with children. Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful videos!👍👍👍💯❤️🔥🥰
Awesome, majestic, and beautiful breed of dog!
Amazing stuff as always.
Wild animals are highly aggressive when threatened. Most domesticated dogs just don’t have that level, but these dogs are hard, true grit.
They're built like a bear. Absolute units
Alabai and Kangal beautiful and best shepherd dogs ❤💣
Aww what a amazing dog
Wow, what a great dog. Thanks for sharing
I’ve waited a long time for this 😄
Amazing breed😍 Keep up the good work!❤🐾
✨That is one gorgeous breed!✨
I love such dogs!
Very impressive breed of dog! Super cool to see you do a video on them.
Fascinating dogs with several sides to them, they seem to be very smart too.
Beautiful dogs!
This is an amazing breed. Thanks for the mulitple videos to showcase just how different they can be in size and attitude towards people. I have never met an Alabai which I prefer to call them but am absolutely infatuated with them. I want one in the worst way. I am leaning towards an all white female one day as I think I'd have a great guardian and loyal friend to me and children. Thank you Anneka for another wonderful video. You are a beautiful person inside and out and I hope our paths cross one day in this life or the next.
🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
How would the color affect how well it guardians or it's loyalty?
@Girard got any more whine Karen?
@Girard you mean a working dog doing it’s job to protect? I suppose had the wolf violently ripped apart a sheep starting with its anus that wouldn’t be cruelty?
Wild animals don’t share human morality. It’s that respect and understanding that caused humans to breed guardians for a deterrent.
@@ldo1308 I wasn't trying to state I think "white" makes it any better I was simply saying my favorite color. The nod to a female though I do think makes a nice difference as far as being a great family dog.
Well, those are absolutely beautiful dogs. Thanks for this video.
Beautiful dog ❤
Great video !
Great information!
What a beautiful and lovely dog breed. Great video ❤❤💯🥰
Once again another great video. Ty for making it.
That white female was quite the specimen. She was massive!
Cute and certainly stronger and bigger than the average dog.
But I think the people saying "He can take on any wolf" either have neither seen how big wolfs get or are in denial, or overpraising their own dog.
Like he was a good bit shorter than that guys hips in the begging, but there are tons of pics out there of big men with wolves in enclosure and the wolves are 10cm higher than their hipbone and does are probably smaller than wild ones. Or those ones where the wolf is standing up and has his front legs across the shoulders of some older guy and the wolf is just a head taller.
Not saying he won't put up a good fight tho, or outright win against younger/smaller ones.
Edit: Also ya know wolfs are usually pack hunters
At least they were honest and said it depends on the dog and the wolf. Most will scream their dogs will kill umpteen wolves before dinner time... These same people will never see a live wolf in their entire life.
Most people’s understanding of how big a wolf actually is doesn’t even come close to reality. They’re usually imagining a large dog. I’m saying this with confidence cause that’s what I thought too till I’ve seen pictures of actual wolfs.
Very sweet!❤❤❤
Adoro a los Alabai, buen video 😘👏
Lovely dogs.
Thank you always for such a great video but also introducing a lot of us to a new breed. That puppy was just scrumptious, I would’ve wanted to steal him away also.
Amazing Beautiful Dog ❤
Beautiful animals.
I like that these guys were very well informed and experienced when it came to these dogs. So many idiots get potentially dangerous dogs and have no idea how to handle them.
Found this super super interesting. Great looking flock guardian.
Check out caucasian shepherds, turkish kangals and tibetan mastiffs if your into guardian breeds
Beautiful dogs.
Nice to see pup with his ears still
such cool, much wow!
They seem so calm
Wow! Thanks. Id love to own one.
Beautiful Dogs absolutely beautiful
great work Anika
I saw one of these up close yesterday. It was the the biggest dog I've ever seen in person (seemed bigger than the ones in the video). It was super friendly, at least with it's owner around, but I certainly wouldn't want it after me.
Great video 👍 the dogs attitude very in keeping with my own CAS dog
Love your vids. Please consider doing a video on the Dogue de Bordeaux & Tosa Inu! Love both these breeds and theres not as much informative vids on these two breeds compared to more popular ones…
Thanks for video!
Awesome looking dog.
New sub!!! Great episode💯🤙🏽
I am so glad you did this video, I was so disappointed in your last video on the CAS as it did not truly represent the breed. These were fabulous dogs to have on to represent the breed.
Very cool!
Awesome Dogs. Wolfs don't need killing need more space. I hate dog fighting.
I love this website 💖
Majestic breed
My favourite dog🥰
These are the real alabai. The earlier ones who were aggressive are wrong as a shephard dog cannot be so man aggressive
This breed is for committed and patience owners, they can be hard to read as mine doesn't give off many signals and can react without any hesitation so early training and socialization is a huge must with this dog and weak owner will be challenged for the alpha position without a doubt.
Theres no alpha dudee, that does not exist!!!!
@@yondayyon4131 There is. Wolfs for example in the wild they will have a family hirachy. But in a stressful captivity situation, their natural order brakes down and an aplha bully will dominate the others. Can happen with dogs too, specially if they feel they are not part of the family, are stressed out in a fighting or guard dog situation.
Same with kangals. My female puppy is already HUGE at 4 months, almost thr size of the neighbor's GSD and she is so naturally dominant she already dominates my blue heeler. Great with kids and cats though. But it's scary how intense they are with other dogs
Beautiful dogs!
Such big shoulders.. would need a strong person to walk a large male, for sure
Thank you
Absolutely stunning dog, wish i could meet you one day. :)
The Amazing Breed n amazing video mam 😍😍👍👍...he is so lovely big boi🤗🤗🤗
Ive got a male boerbull and male alibai dane mix, he is a monster and sooo much more independent & calmer than the boerbull. Amazing temperament and the power is crazy.
Alabai and Cane Corso are my favourite breeds.
Lovely another great informative episod, Annika you are looking ever so beautiful as the time goes🌹🌹❤️❤️
They were some knowledgeable breeders. I liked em. Bring em to Australia, please. I have a native bullarab, but this guys looks lovely
I own a CAS and this was a great vid!! Also so cool cause my dogs mother was imported from Vairavar Kennels!!
That dog can walk me 💀💀💀💀
😂😂😂
A perfect breed.
