I wrote an entire final paper at my university about monasteries and economic independence...although that was not exactly the main intention because I'm an architect and designer so I designed a new benedictine monastery...but without economic independence, I think monasteries have not a future..so that's a big part of my final work
Brother, I have been to several monasteries: St. Anselm's in DC, St. Peter's in Germany and Gethsemane in Kentucky. I felt akin to the monks but didn't feel a calling. Enjoy your videos.
That’s because Benedictine monasteries are not a religious order. The Cistercian Order (1098) is the first Religious Order. Benedictines are monastic; independent Monasteries. Pope Leo XIII in the late 1800’s grouped Benedictine Monasteries into Congregations.
@@allgoodinthebrotherhoodand one day I hope to visit Saint Vincent Monastery! I have been to Saint Bede in Peru IL and during covid they took a year hiatus from accepting new oblates so I went with Holy Cross (Subiaco Cassinese).
Brother, Thank you for these podcasts. I have learned so much since I started listening and now pray to St. Benedict daily. Many thanks.

Correct. Saint Vincent is the founding hose for the American-Cassinese Congregation which includes 19 autonomous monasteries and 6 dependent priories.
