Ep. 80: For I Have Sinned (the Gift of Confession)
My father saw Therese Neumann several times during the 50s.
Pfff lol
They are striving for holiness. There is none righteous, no not one. There is no way we as people can clean ourselves to be holy and acceptable to God, it's a falsehood. The minute you read this you fall into that "putting people in a box" theory. Protestant. Nope, I'm a Christian. I follow Christ. I do not have any lifestyle to make me holy to God. There is nothing I can do to work my way to Heaven, nothing. I can't clean my sins away by living a holy life. There is only one way and that is through Jesus, that died and paid for my sins. In Him I have eternal life, he takes away all my sins which makes me holy unto God. Jesus took my place by His death. Nothing I or you can do to make ourselves holy. But faith in Jesus. Now, I have no license to sin any further, I detest a sinful life, yet I have an advocate that is just and righteous to forgive me of all unrighteousness. I will to live for Christ and not to live to sin any further. I am justified through Him. Yet I am a sinful man still yet. Yet I have the promise of eternal life, not taken away or can I lose it out right. I do not make myself holy as I live, but live through Christ that cleanses me worthy unto the Father.
'Thou who wouldst teach another to be silent, be silent thyself.' Anon.
this is so interesting. What is the difference between prayer, singing psalms, also contemplative reading of scriptures, and meditation?
Do monks wear a rosary on their belt? Can monks also wear a crucifix or miraculous medal over their habit ?
Great episode!
I knew Sam (Francisco) before he went religious. Cute guy.
once again, a very good presentation/topic of discussion - Fr Abbot is certainly easy to listen to as he speaks - I get the sense Fr Abbot, from his manner of speaking/tone, he is quite easy to approach even with his level of responsibilities bestowed on him
You can easily tell the leanings of a Monastery by the way mass is offered. If you hear no Latin, see rainbow 🌈 stoles and ugly chalices you know you are dealing with a liberal group.
Thanks for the blessing, Father Abbott.
My most connected Saint to where I am now is St. Francis de Sales.
What I like to know is if you chose the Benedictines because of St. Benedict or the connection to the Community members?
Nothing to be embarrassed about Abbott. We all get distracted. For you seeing everyone in one place it's natural to look for positions.
I know I'm commenting a lot. This is what is so different from Diocesan. The connection to the Abbott. Or maybe he is such a good Abbott. Prayer is difficult for Diocesan. It's lonely and busy. Brother, are you going to be ordained or remain a Brother? I would ask the Abbott about your Ordination date.
Wow, that says a lot about picking an outside Abbott. Also, God's call/ choice from outside. I met Abbott Paul years ago. A beautiful, welcoming soul.
Good discussion Brother and a good length. More than 45 minutes is to long.
How in the world would an abbot be able to receive vows at Mass if the abbot isn’t a priest? Truthfully I sometimes wonder if Pope Francis ever went to CCD?
Someone could be the Celebrant, like the Prior, and the Abbott receives the vows. Women Religious aren't ordained and receive vows.
Was Saint Benedict ever a priest?
@@bentonschmidt5242probably not but anyone who decries clericalism while “permitting “ clerics to “accompany “ adulterers to communion and sodomites for blessings is a deceitful. That would be a certain someone but definitely not Saint Benedict.
@@stanleyianieri5747and that’s what that is; a feminist move. Anyone who decries clericalism while “permitting “ clergy to accompany adulterers to communion and sodomites for blessings is deceitful.
@@bentonschmidt5242no but he kept the Ten Commandments; adulterous union may NOT go to communion).
Archabbot Martin Bartel is an awesome guy. Remember him from many years ago. thanks for bringing up Fr. Jacques de Paul daley who is greatly missed!
God created Adam to need a woman for God said -Its not good for a man to live alone -meaning -a man needs the help of a woman - men were created to need a woman -Im not Catholic, but an Anglican
We all need to transform Jesus Christ way, by inviting Jesus Christ into our hearts to transform according His will , His way , not a saint's way .What church you belong to doesn't matter its your choice. /We have to be holy intentionally .To be perfect is to be blameless/ Good teaching on marriage. God bless you in your journey with God , May you learn to know God personally an walk in love in Jesbus Mighty Name amen
Silence is the element in which great things fashion themselves
Loved this and I love my Benedictines. I feel at home at SVA and Fr. Boniface has been my guiding light and saved my life.
Thank you for keeping it real
Beautiful and inspiring journey. If I had only the courage to listen earlier in life
The real question is, how many PIES are there??
You're authentic and kind, I love listening to you.
God bless all of you.
I was a junior monk at St. Leo in Florida
I want him inside me! Amen 🥰
When I was a Carmelite, our community visited St. Vincent often, as two of our Friars were Seminarians there. I have great memories of being with the Monks. I was the one who was Brother Gregory Joseph of the Holy Cross, CMMI, though unfortunately, I am back in the Lay state.
Wow! When I was your age, the holidays were only another day of worship and service. Sometimes in very progressive convents, a glass of wine was enjoyed after vespers on Christmas Eve. How things have changed! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Please pray for my daughter Holly she just got diagnosed with Lymphoma, please please please pray for her!!!!!!
Thank you for delighting God by becoming a Monk.
I am not Catholic, but I feel like I would thrive living in a monastery.
What alcoholic beverages do you all enjoy on Thanksgiving besides wine ? Happy Thanksgiving Br. F. ! Thankful for this you tube channel. #GreatStuff
We need to hear more about Hell! That’s the issue! I loved this ! 🙏🙏
I appreciate the conversation. Thank you for the share!
I’m from JAX FL; it’s Happy Thanks given.
"Three to Get Married" and Three to stay married - happily and holy 😇 Thank you, Brother Francisco!
Wow! One of the best talks on marital happiness and fulfillment that I have ever heard (or read:). Muchas gracias!
Monks eating meat ?
in the Rule, St. Benedict allows for eating the meat of two-footed animals
I know, we here in Canada (Toronto) celebrated our Thanksgiving a little over a month ago - but I do wish to convey my best 'Thanksgiving' wishes to Archabbot Bartel; Br. Francesco and the whole of St Vincent Archabbey community - and perhaps if you might have room in your prayers, if you could add extra prayer for me - and keep up the great work in your video podcast Br. Francesco 👍tk you - cheers, Patrick +
@patrickkearns344 God bless, Patrick, we'll definitely keep you in prayer. Happy Thanksgiving!
Please pray for me and my 3 adult children. My son has special needs. His father has a personality disorder. I am so tired and weary. Please ask the Lord to rescue me and help me. Amen
. . . great vid . . . who does the cooking? . . .
We have a dining service we use, but many of the monks contribute as well.
Sending love and prayers to all of the SVA monks 🙏❤️
what kind off cars or bikes wheels do monks have
a wide variety, but the brother in charge of cars prefers toyotas and hondas
@@allgoodinthebrotherhood thats cool and he must be a skilled car monk
Love your posts! Wishing all of you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!!!!
Thank you, Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Anxiety comes when you are not living in the moment. It's very hard to do. Also do they allow you to go away for a retreat alone?
they do yes, in fact we are required to go on one at least once a year
It's a great year. We weren't allowed to call our peeps, we were only allowed to write letters.
You must be Italian, Latin, you speak with your hands.
