    I inherited my dads 1990 F250 XLT with a nice 8' bed that he bought brand new in 90. It still doesn't have 100K on it. In the year 2023, these solid fairly dependable and cheaper vehicles than these current 65K trucks are becoming more and more popular as finally some people are realizing they don't want to be a slave to the bank for the next 84 months at $700 a pop per month.

      @@MotorMikeMedia Thanks for the reply. I bought my current truck in 2014. Before my current truck I owned a '72 F-100 360 cu. in. 2WD, 4sp. manual w/granny low. It was stock with no AC. I had that truck for 33 YRS!!. I used it for construction, camping, and towing my boat. I did have to rebuild the engine one time and valve job two times. I believe the 1967 - 1972 were the best generation of Ford trucks. They all were reliable, heavy, simple, and easy to work on.

      @@sunking2001 That's awesome 👍. Nowadays people always want the latest and greatest vehicles. But when you have a good reliable simple vehicle and I keep it for 30 plus years that's so cool they don't make them like they used to. New trucks are awesome with all their cool features but they're so expensive to buy so expensive to maintain. It's always nice to have something that's simple and reliable. I would have to agree with you those are probably the best looking for trucks.

      @@MotorMikeMedia When I bought my 1970 F-250 in 2014 I happen to inherent all of the original sales receipts and contract from the original buyer and date of purchase from a dealership in Sacramento in 1970. I now live 25 miles north in Roseville, CA. The truck was sold as a F-250 Custom with a 360 cu. in 2v with AC and automatic (C-6) speed for around $4,000. Can you believe it? The purchaser had a cab-over camper installed with optional "slide out'" rear bumper. I even have the original purchase of the cab-over camper and it's features from 1970. Here it is...same truck now with a 460 cu. in. with Classic Air AC. I even have the original Ford Truck brochures offered to the public from the showroom showing all the models and options from...1970! How cool is that? I bought my first bricknose back in 08 .. it got me out of my 77 … later on i bought another 89 but it was a f250 with a 460 .. i quickly noticed that truck is geared way to low .. id drive up the highway at 50 mph and my engine would be turning 3000 rpms … thats why they dont get good gas mileage .. since then ive found a nice 89 4dr dually .. im gonna swap the 460 over into it with the Zf5 5 speed transmission … I’ve already bought (6) 35 in tall tires and a set of 2004 f250 front and rear that has a slightly higher gear ratio in them .. instead of the factory 4.11 ratio those trucks came with the 2004 axles have 3.73 gears .. its not a big difference but after i get the truck together and drive it ill know if the tire size,gear ratio and the 5 speed are all gonna be satisfactory if not ill buy a gear set for front and back and change the gears out for a set more appropriate to my needs ..
    as for pulling with the higher gears i still pull with my f150 i got back in 08 it has 308 gears with a set of 35 in tall tires on it with a worn out foxbody 5.0 under the hood and a bulldog 4 speed … i pull my 4200 pound gooseneck around everywhere .. its slow but it goes and to make it home up my big steep hill i gotta use 4 low
    I figure since the 460 is capable of making lots of horsepower if i dont have enough horsepower to pull ill simply make more horsepower … thats what i do best anyway !!!

      That's great 👍. They all seem like great trucks. I really loved the 460 Big Block it is one great engine! Changing out the gears is the right move. They are too low designed for that low-end torque down low for moving your payload or what you're towing but not usable on the highway. But as long as you've got power to pay with, you can change the gears and set it up the way you want it. Like you did, for work or play.

    • @MotorMikeMedia
      @MotorMikeMedia  2 роки тому

      Well back in late '80s early '90s the diesel engines were pretty good for most makers I would look for the 7.3 powerstroke if you're looking for a Ford. Or a Cummings if you're looking for a Dodge. The Chevy diesel was just okayish at this time. As well as the majority of big block V8s we're pretty good making decent power and reliability. The 460 big block Ford is a great engine very reliable just keep your fluids full and change your oil and your good to go. The main thing to look for on these older trucks are rust on the body and underneath components as well as electrical issues making sure the wires have held up and haven't been chewed up by rodents or hacked up from people adding sound systems or trying to do their own electronics

    My 88 Supercab 4wd 7.3idi gets better fuel mileage than your truck. I regularly get 16mpg.

    Put a factory 1989-1991 grille in it for the blacked background. Also why do you post a shitload of video links in descrioption?

      @MotorMikeMedia  Рік тому

      That would look pretty sweet and it's just links to other videos where I'm actually walking around talking about cars instead of me being in my room talking about new stuff for people that just want a easy way to see my car reviews or me working at cars.

      Yup that's why I sold it but I made a couple grand on it so it was a win win. Had a cool truck when gas was cheap and made money when it went up.

    I just watched your video where you were having problems with your fuel line between the tanks I thought you said it was an 89 f250

      It was an 88 but I always would say 89 sorry about that lol the problem I was having was the fuel pump on the frame rail was Messed up inside so I was pumping my second tank over full of gas and pumping some gas onto the frame rail as well as it filled up the old charcoal canister filter full of gas lol
