#FordTrucks #F250
4 speed, 300, long bed, 2wd, 2 door standard cab. This is the epitomy of simple work truck. If it stays up to date on maintenance it will out live us all
That 300 inline 6 is probably one of the most reliable engines ever made lol
I’m about to get a 90 250 2wd 5 speed 5.8 351 Windsor with 117k miles, it was an old farm truck and it’s gonna be my first vehicle that I will have bought, pretty excited
@@danielfrederick306 I just bought an old farm truck 89 f250 2wd with same engine and 75k miles the other day, how you like yours?
Well mines still going strong, I like it simple and it’s out in a good amount of work without complaint
@@theslysmoker6458I got a f150 with a 5.0 liter v8 and with 2wd and everything works on it and there is no rust
Best truck ever built period!!! My 91f250 xlt larite is a great ride. Drives well . Has over 600000 miles in service. Tows like a gentleman and carries about 1000 lbs. Of tools and equp.all the time. This is what Ford truck means
I'm in process of restoring a 91 just like this one in your review. It's been sitting since 2017 and it started right up with a simple charge. The motor was running a bit rough, it had ORIGINAL plugs in it, and they were nasty. And yes, they are work trucks, great review. The one I am restoring is white with blue interior, and blue pin strips. The interior is in great shape, same stock radio, seats a mint. I am loving it
I drive a 1991 until 2009, throughout high school and undergrad delivering pizzas. Finally traded it in when they did the ‘cash for clunkers’ thing. I regret that dearly.
Fell for the scam
I daily drive a 1994 Ford F-150 4X4 XLT regular cab SWB 5.0 5 speed and I love driving my truck! it only has 108k miles plus its as reliable as transportation can get. It’ll go through pretty much any terrain and it’ll start every time. plus I drive it like a tractor and manage to get 18mpg which isn’t bad at all for 3.55 gears and a V8 4x4 truck!
I drive a 4x4 version of this every day. It's my daily.
I own a 1988 F150 with this same powertrain setup (300ci engine / m5od transmission). It’s probably a matter of personal opinion, but I find it very fun to drive. The newer ones are nice and more comfortable, but “fun” is a subjective term.
Actually the f250 has a zf5 transmission, it’s like the m5od but waay heavier, duty wise and weight wise
@@samuelsaady9909yeah and the m5OD actually has a usable first for normal driving
I have a 91 f150, the only difference between mine and yours is that I have an automatic. I love that thing dearly
My granddad had a 1987 f250 as his work truck and the he parked it and let it set. Around 8 years ago my dad got it and started restoring it now it is a slick truck but still needs a lot of work. I plan of fixing it up and getting new wheels, tire, and exhaust. It is going to be my first vehicle, can’t wait to start working on it.
I drive an 89 f150 single cab short bed 302 5 speed 4x4 I only wish it was a long bed, but I love that thing so much
I love my 97 OBS 5.8l F250..it has hauled so much firewood for me its ridiculous..
I even have a matching trailer for it too
I have a 89 no od , loves to eat some gas up. But I love the beast, like you said will pull anything. Alot different than my 04 , but they have a comfortable ride, it's a real truck for sure.
Can it tow 10,0000 lbs? probably
Will you be uncomfortable and stressed out towing 10,000 lbs with it? heck yes!
Will you feel like a cool badass driving this beast? Hell yeah!
100,000 pounds is alot
I agree 10,000 isn’t correct. Ford put the towing capacity for the 4.9 f250 at 6,500lbs. You would need to upgrade to the 460ci gas motor or 7.3 diesel to tow 10,000+ pounds.
@@Petrol360the 300i6 was used in the F-super duty (f450+) and it definitely was capable of towing 15,000+ lbs. You're underestimating the i6 + ZF5. This is NOT the m5OD transmission
Way better than a new one
Ford produced those eighth generation F-series pickups from 1987 through 1991, & same with the fullsize Broncos with that same body style.
It’s just called a 5spd.
ZF5-42 2nd gear isn’t low enough for regular starts in 2nd. Use 1st gear unless you’re rolling.
Correct. A 4 speed was the np435 or t18 or t19 if diesel. Now my 89 has a t18 because I put it in there. I'm here seeing if you could get a 4 speed past 1987
It says in the owners manual many times to start in second when unloaded. So no. You're wrong.
Mines a 4speed no od, I start off in 2 gear.
It’s just called a 5 speed
@5:45 This wasn't really the era of "trucks were trucks". Compare the 70's trucks to the 1988 XLT Lariat super cab. I have both and the 88 XLT Lariat has tilt, A/C, captain's chairs, great carpet, etc... It's really comfortable like a modern truck. The "custom" is the entry level and this was an era when they really started adding luxury to pickups. Do a compare to a fully loaded XLT Lariat super cab and you'll see.
Very important era in pickups.
the door rattle is an easy fix, just adjust the door latch with a torx bit and wrap some tape around it and it will be quiet and solid
I put tape on mine too.
Love the fleet watch decal!!! It has held up well regardless of the elements.
My dad used to have a 1990 f-150 with the 5.0 he got a good deal on it because it was a lariat with a manual transmission and it got terrible fuel economy but it was a cool truck
I'm getting my first car and this is what im getting but automatic
I have the automatic and it’s alright
Just bought one of these today! Only 76,000 miles for $1800! Very excited to use it.
More than likely 176,000 miles
@@jasonberry1435or 376,000. You never know.
Gotta love the long throws on the shift I enjoy it you feel powerful
I came to this channel not because I'm trying to buy a good car, but because I just like cool cars.
Custom tended to mean the dual tank, Power Steering, AC, and little factory opinions that were added. If it were the base model. It most likely wouldn't have any of that stuff.
I drive a 84 Ford Ranger 7ft bed. 5-speed V6. I drive it daily.
Best trucks ever built
I'd love one of these old f250s
Found one with some rust but good frame. Maybe can get the body redone
One of the best ferds ever
In Argentina the Ford 4.9 engine was placed in the F100 until 1998.
Eternal subscriber after this!😄
A mechanical clutch are my favorites you can feel the clutch grab better
3:28 I'd rather have the manual shift tbh
I learned to drive on grampa's no-budget 1953 Chevy longbed. It was a 4-speed, granny-gear, no "power" *ANYTHING* , no carpet, don't even think it was converted to 12-volt. The early 90's pick-ups are about as close as you can get to the actual old school work trucks. *Longbed or no bed!!!*
Man makes me miss my old 1990 f250 It was pretty much the same truck but was white and had a V8 with a automatic transmission stock it was a good truck but after being badly damaged from a crash and rust and the engine oil pump giving out I had to let it go I hope someone got some good parts from it .
I have a similar truck to this, same tranny same color(twilight blue), same trim package, mines has a 351w, is a 4x4, vinyl bench(no head rests), and a cassette radio, hoping to restore her one day because she’s a little rough.
I just bought an 88 with the 351w and a 4 speed. 4x4. Only has 81k and very very minor rust.
Just bought a 91 F250 long bed. Automatic transmission and 5.8l v8. 60k original miles
Definitely not original my friend
Sweet old truck real work horse true truck love it no vanity mirror in that old girl that's for sure.
That's a 5 speed there, sir, ZF-5.
zf5 was for the diesel 7.3 this had a lighter manual trans m5od -r2
@@AaronBilger You're wrong, the 351s and 460s always got ZF-5 if stick from 1988+, and in many cases, even the 300 i6 in the F-250s got a ZF-5, since that one is a heavy duty F-250 (Full floater rear), it definitely has a ZF-5, even my F-250 light duty 4x4 with the 300 i6 has the ZF-5.
Correct. The gas engine zf 5 is the s 5-42 version. Had 2 of them.
@@AaronBilger This is incorrect, there were 2 versions of the zf-5. 1 was close ratio for the diesels and the other was a wide ratio for gas engines. I have a 1990 f250 with the 4.9 and wide ratio zf5.
Um i cant believe im saying this but im the current owner of this exact truck
Me encantan los bricknoseford, saludos desde argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷
great review
I never understood why some of them get a tach cluster and some don't, it doesn't seem matter what year, motor, transmission or xlt or custom models.
It was all custom order.
Just use 1st gear even if you only get to 5mph it’ll save a lot of ware on the clutch and transmission!
It says in the owners manual to start in second be quiet
@@bldontmatter5319 well you have to let the clutch out slower and it wares out the syncros and clutch faster. i don't care what ppl do with theirs but mine has the zf5 speed and I always start in 1st.
I got the same center console in my f250 too 😂😂
Great video!
Also just curious but are you the one that left the prybar in the rear bumper?
Beautiful condition F-250 service truck. Number one question - is this equipped with the 4.9 straight six that produced 146 HP and 265 pounds of torque ? Standard four speed manual with granny gear? I am very curious now??? Or is it a 460 model. Thank you for posting another fantastic short!!! Rob
It’s not a 460 model, that would be a huge v8 in the bay if that were the case
It's a 300cid six cylinder.
it is 4.9 300 i6
honestly 1st gear isn't that low on that, its not a true granny gear. I have a real 4 speed in mine. that 1st gear is wayyy lower then this and i still start out in it. saves the clutch and makes it a tad easier to drive.
I believe you are mistaken my friend. I have one and it idles in 1st.
Yup my 4 speed will idle up hill in first, get out and walk next to it, no joke. 1987 300inline 4 speed manual 4x4
I have a question I have the same truck but my truck is 4x4. What transmission do they have in it. It's a 7.3 diesel.
If it’s automatic it’s an E4OD
2:08...dead💀😂
You shouldn't be able to get a driver's license if you cannot operate a manual vehicle. 😊
Most 4x4 trucks of this era, have manual 4x4.
the owners pretty cute too
I’d bang tbh
Tru
Awesome!
that truck or at least the engine can't tow 10,000 lbs i had one yes it was a 5 speed manual only had like 160k miles on it. I know once you load that thing up shes a dog slow and not that powerful to tow 10k lbs i once loaded mine up with 4k lbs and she didnt wanna go had a full service done when i first bought it just wasn't enough for me so i got a 1990 f350 dually with 7.3 idi with a turbo tows everything i could ever want.
The engine was literally put in dump trucks and the F-super duty. It's absolutely ok
custom actually comes with black steering wheel
Okay all the bricknose guys i got a question my dads got a f350 dually 460 5 speed single cab. Only bad part is it has a dump on it, i wanna make it have its normal bed but i feel like the chassis is super long. Is it possible to do it?
Unless it came as a bare frame for that dump box from factory I'm pretty sure you can just get a 8ft box off another truck
Lol the don’t speed on gravel add I got before this
AN F-250HD with a 300? Usually those came in light duty F-250s.
what is the price of one equal to your truck?
About what I expect. An example of male perfection in the form of a sack of potatoes driving an indestructible bathtub on wheels that gets passed by bicycles but pulls houses. Are we twins?
I love mine it's super rare 1991 f250 xlt lariat 460 ci 7.5 liter gas
I have the same 1991 truck. Purchased from the original elderly owner about 14 years ago. Regular cab, long bed, 4x4, automatic 460/7.5 original paint, 110,093 original miles. How rare is this and how much do you think its worth in overall good (not perfect) condition?? I have no idea and don't know where to find a value for this. Anyone??? Thanks!
@@usaman7358 I'm not positive but from what I've seen them go for 6-15 depending on condition and what's done
@@CHEESESLICER96 Thanks Cheeseslicer....I wish I knew what website to go to to find the value of these types of older trucks.
@@CHEESESLICER96LOL how is that rare my friend? They made millions of these.
@bldontmatter5319 rare to be on the road still in my area atleast
It will cost €228,42 to fill up those 2 tanks of fuel here in the Netherlands 🤣
when r the rotary life videos coming back
91 f250 243k miles
That is a 5 speed... peace
That's the easiest manual to drive. If you stall that truck you need more practice.
Suck it up Buttercup! For the LOVE of Pete! DO YOU SERVE CHEESE WITH THAT WHINE??? "I don't enjoy driving this truck" ROTFWL!
Aqui no Brasil e novidade uma dessa não existe
Not what you teach someone to drive stick in? Blasphemy!
I learned how to drive in a Dodge 200 Adventurer with a twin cab. Three speed column shift and power nothing. I'm pretty sure whoever designed it went on to make Nautilus exercise equipment. It fought you on everything.
But my dad figured that it I could learn to drive that, I could handle almost anything.
I have a 91 7.3 non turbo diesel IDI 5 speed 4 wheel drive that I reluctantly have to sell in Southern Oregon hit me up if you're interested. I wanted to keep this truck until I was dead but can't have two vehicles on disability
Still selling?
All you need is new suspension man
just sayin those front tires are balder than jeff bezos god damn
Ain’t nobody saying nothing about your hair when you a BILLIONAIRE!💵💰💵
Pickup trucks with manual transmissions🤮😖☹️
2:08 has me crying
