    With 18:6 and some magnesium glycinate before bed every night, I've seen HUGE improvement. I'll keep incorporating more of your advice as I gain energy! Hard to be motivated to walk every day when it's 100 degrees outside. 🥵

      Does it have to be that specific type of magnesium? How did you get past the hunger pangs in the beginning? I live in Texas and it’s been over 100 for months, lol. I finally bought an under desk treadmill that I can stow under my sofa and walk and watch TV when I feel like it, lol. Also I like the walking workouts from the Keoni Tamayo channel. It’s called Reps to the Rhythm. It’s walking but feels like dancing you can actually follow!

      @@rnguyen2516 Howdy also from Texas! 🤠 Autumn has a video about magnesium which I will link, but I'll also put my two cents in on what it's done for me. Disclaimer: I am NOT a certified clinical nutritionist! 😆

      I had chronic fatigue for years, and after being told by more than one doctor that my debilitating symptoms were "normal", I finally got in touch with an NP who tests for hormone and nutrient deficits. Turns out I have a lot going on with me lol, but one of the easiest things I could address with OTC supplementation was low magnesium. I bought a bottle of chelated magnesium glycinate and started off by taking 1,000 mg the first three nights, and now I take 500 mg before bed every night for maintenance. Even from day one, I felt like I had slept deeply and woke up with my muscles feeling more relaxed. This from someone who is basically a mummy for the first two hours of every day. I've never had any supplement be so much of a game changer so quickly. If you try it, I hope it's just as effective for you! I went with the brand NatureBell. Wishing I could get the same results from BlueBell, amirite? 🐄
      Regarding the hunger pangs: I jumped into intermittent fasting the wrong way, but if I had to do it over again, I would start by eating healthier meals first, with a basic 12:12 schedule until I had reduced processed foods and replaced them with homemade meals higher in protein and whole ingredients. We were taught "small meals and frequent snacks throughout the day keeps your metabolism revved up!", but that BS made me a carb-junkie who couldn't go anywhere without several snacks in her purse. Even jumping into I.F. without a gentle transition for myself, I found that as long as I was getting enough protein during my eating window, I didn't feel hungry later. If I ever need to take a little bit of an edge off, plain green tea is my go-to. And don't underestimate the power of a pinch of salt! This protocol can seem intimidating at first, but the effort is so worth the health benefits.
      Thanks for coming to my TED talk lol. I will definitely check out your recommendations too! 💃

    One thing i would recommend for anyone starting out or struggling to lose belly fat, or any body fat, is to get yourself a blood glucose/ketone monitor. Made a huge difference to me getting rid of the last few pounds of fat around my waist. And the more you use it and keep records you learn how your body functions and reacts to different foods. Game changer for me. Have a good weekend everyone. 🥰

    I couldn't agree more. When it comes to walking, since I remain seated for many hours (working from a computer) I push myself once I am off work to walk. Without it, I just can't clear my head and relax and frankly speaking I've always preferred outdoor walking to any other form of cardio. As for the nutrition part, I'm not an expert as Autumn; I've come to realize that a balanced approach is key. Fat and carbs aren't the enemy, as far as their quality is good and you control their intake. Sleep plays a crucial role and it's become a hot topic lately. It's the period where the system is mending all the harm, we put it through daily and magnesium, apart from helping with falling asleep, additionally assists in various functions of the brain. Thanks Autumn :).

    • @claireh1508
      @claireh1508 Рік тому

      sadly the body likes to hold fat there to protect the reproductive organs. It's a woman thing lol. It's actually generally considered not that healthy for women to have visible abs, especially 6 packs, because you have to push the female body so hard to get there since it's not natural (there are some exceptions for women who are naturally lean with fast metabolisms, but it's rare)

    If someone has some insulin resistance, should they avoid higher intensity endurance training with strength building (such as HIIT)? Should they aim to only practice strength building with low Intensity such as walking?

    • @AutumnBates

      It depends on your current fitness level. Some strategically timed HIIT can be beneficial as long as it isn't overdone.

  • @strikefirststrikehard780
    @strikefirststrikehard780 Рік тому

    Great to see you basically admit it’s about calories.
    Why would it matter how much fat I eat? If fat doesn’t spike insulin and insulin causes fat storage than I should be able to eat as much fat as I want?

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  Рік тому +2

      Calories is one component, but just focusing on calories doesn't address body recomposition. In fact, just focusing on calories can result in a decreased metabolism which makes it harder to lose weight. Focusing on how our body uses energy (not just the overall amount) helps us better address body recomposition without having to rely on calorie counting (which can be highly inaccurate and not very practical).

    • @strikefirststrikehard780
      @strikefirststrikehard780 Рік тому

      @@AutumnBates I agree calorie counting is cumbersome fir many. Personally I enjoy it but I understand it’s not for everyone. I appreciate your response. Of course losing weight results in a lower energy out component since it takes less energy to move a smaller body. This of course is true fir any diet that reduces calories in one way or another such as keto. Clearly the diet should include sufficient protein and fat etc but as human research is crystal clear on if you want to lose fat you must reduce calories one way or another. Counting them is optional but eating fewer is required. Good video. Are you familiar with Layne Norton?

    I have a question: How is it that sugar/carbs turns into another substance Fat in the body?

    • @AutumnBates
      @AutumnBates  Рік тому +1

      It's our body's way of storing carbs. We have very limited storage ability for carbs (because it needs to be packaged with water, making it not very space efficient). So our body converts excess carbs into fat for more efficient storage.

    • @strikefirststrikehard780
      @strikefirststrikehard780 Рік тому +1

      If you look at metabolic tracer studies approximate 2 percent of bodyfat cones from carbohydrates. 98 from dietary fat. Not saying fat is bad (saturated isn’t great) but fat turns to fat. If you overeat calories it’s likely since your body prefers carbs for energy it would free up fat to be stored. Try to follow actual research scientists like Layne Norton and Adrien Chavez. Hope this helps
