that was fascinating Jacub. There's stuff up there from the first world war through to the 1930's and seemed to stop around the 1970's with pills and medical corsets and the trappings of old age. poignant

That electrical wiring is called knob and tube if memory serves correct. Looks like an absolute treasure trove from the 30's, especially the old cupie doll doll with the original box! That medical device might be a truss.

My first house had that type of wiring, it's called tube and knob. There was more modern wiring also added to it. It made turning off circuits interesting because sometimes you needed to turn off 2 breakers!

What a great place! I could spend hours up there! That first clock you found was a travel alarm clock. The medical device was an old blood pressure cuff. I remember the old commercial on tv "get wildroot cream oil Charlie". It was some kind of tonic for your hair. I actually named my shiny black cat Charlie after that commercial. The old headset looks like one that went to an old telephone switchboard back when we had crank phones. Yes, I remember those because we had them until 1967 when my dad sold the telephone company. Keep up the great work on the videos.

My dad has a set of drafting tools similar to the set you saw close to the start, the box with the velvet and looked like tweezers. I remember how much I wanted to play with it as a kid and how annoyed my dad would get with us touching it. It just looked so fun, lol.

This is one of your best... it's one of the most enjoyable and close to home on UA-cam I've ever watched. I really appreciate that you are respectful and treat everything with dignity. I got the exploring abandoned places bug from my Dad. He was the only one I felt really understood how cool all this forgotten history was, everyone else I knew just thought of it as junk. This was exactly the type of things we would find. He worked in construction and demolition and he would take me to his work sites and we would explore the basements and attics and everything in between. This was back in the early 80's so that wouldn't fly with the safety laws today taking an 8 year old kid into condemned buildings...Dad passed away a year and a half ago, he sure would have enjoyed your videos if he was around today to watch them. Thanks for reminding me of good memories today. Blessings, peace and good vibes sent your way.

There's definitely a little money up there in collectibles - wonder if the landlord will go through it after you move out. Also there's something so sad (and yet so interesting!) about seeing a woman's whole life just lying around in a mouse-chewed attic. Hope she had a good one.

  • @hollybronwyn8176

Somebody needs to allow an auctioneer or someone to go through those things!
There is history up there !
She was obviously well-educated and seemingly, well-traveled.
If they were my belongings, I would want someone to enjoy them, take what they wanted ... wouldn't want them to rot away in an attic.

Sad to see the memories of a lifetime tucked away & forgotten, yet 'tis an amazing find for a past dabber to happen upon. How easy it would be to lose oneself in relics of another's experience if it weren't for the stifling attic heat! Big change in the works all over. Good luck on yr move. We'll be leaving soon too. Priced out by greedy management. Enjoy yr new digs!

Travel clock and the thing that draws circles is a drafting set, Yes a shaving kit, I get a kick when people see things in abandoned houses and don't know what they are and I've had or seen and know what it is, I guess that is what you call being old.
