I just saw a grown woman sonogram a magical tree. Man the world is a strange place.
+ciprianoms ain't it wonderful
The Carpetbagger lol. It is
Can you please tell me what carpetbagger means ?? I've never heard this saying. Thank you ☺️💜🏵️
miracle of life
These dolls were my childhood
Imagine how creepy it would be abandoned and if you had no idea what this was
"Well this place looks hella' coo- WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE THEY LOOK LIKE BABIES THAT WERE CLOSE A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION, LET ME GET MY DAMN THEORIES ON THIS BOI"...i'm sorry i'll go now...
Hibikicos lol yeah, I'm sure that's something how it will go but don't forget the creepypastas
Oh God noooooo 🤣
aw the lady that plays the nurse is real sweet
she does
More like devilish
She sounds like she’d rather die than be there
@@plopplop5218 that's some projection right there.
I’d love her to be my nurse irl lmaooo
How does one go about applying to be a cabbage patch nurse? Seriously though, it would be very strange to tell people you're a cabbage patch nurse when they ask you what you do for a living. Can you imagine being on a first date and the guy asks what you do for a living and you say you're a cabbage patch nurse. Would you get a call back the next day? lol
whoever said that her dad was Donald Trump that's mean
Linda Mc
You don't go on many dates, do ya?!
Tim Alexander I bet she is so triggered right now
They actually have to be talented in making the 'children' not just the nurse stuff you see.
Linda Mc Important questions here! I'm serious. A day in the life of a Cabbage Parch nurse needs to be in order.
Your straight face (and lack of retching) during the filming of this video was impressive.
I congratulate you.
That whole cabbage patch birth show made me feel really uncomfortable
Katy Gilday really
think of the other kids too. this is too old for them
The birthing process is nature. Nothing to be ashamed of. 🐣
Lol
cabbages giving birth is not nature my dude
I honestly didn’t know there was so much lore behind cabbage patch kids- i love it. It’s such a unique way to teach young kids about child birth in a not so scary or explicit way.
this is strange but intriguing.
The stuff I stumble upon at 1 in the morning
chuggaaconroy0144 sAME
chuggaaconroy0144 same time here, and same weird stuff lol
2:44 AM. :3
Hey it's 1:08 a.m. for me.
2:33 a.m. this is what I watch
Xavier Roberts was sued by the woman who originally made the design he copied. He pretty much screwed the hell out of her.
BlackburnBigdragon these types of dolls were an old Appalachian tradition, he did not invent them
I know. But the woman who worked with Roberts who initially made the actual designs that these dolls are based on, by the name of Martha Nelson Thomas ended up having some bad blood with Roberts and sued. The court case ended up in a settlement according to wikipedia but from what I remember reading there was some serious fighting and some serious bad blood that went on between the two that got very tense. She apparently makes another line of dolls now called "Furskin Bears". Apparently she had refused permission to sell her design and Roberts had gone and made his own copy of her design and she wasn't happy. Things worked out in the end but it got very hairy between the two.
I just watched the Vice documentary on Martha and apparently the Xavier guy stole directly from Martha's creations. We are not talking about an "old Appalachian tradition". We are talking about a particular woman whose creations were unjustly copied and who had to fight for recognition and what was due to her monetarily.
BlackburnBigdragon , yes the video called The secret history of cabbage patch dolls is posted on UA-cam. He was a greedy jerk. Screwed her over bad when she said she didn't want to commercialize her artwork. He pretty much stole her style and said it was his own concept. He flat out lies in interviews on the video. She was such a nice woman. Her big mistake was not getting her work patented.
Stop getting all your info from "experts" on UA-cam. That type of doll was made for generations down here. I had a Cabbage Patch Kid when they came out, but my grandmother had a doll that looked just like it when she was a kid in Blairsville, GA over 90 years ago. Roberts learned about the dolls from Thomas, but she did not create that style of doll.
so.. now i can say i watched a cabbage patch be born...
Well atleast is better than saying "Hey! i know what "poo the fishes" mean!"(x'D i got my puns on point tho)btw...Please don't look that up..you'll regret it..
And HOW there born...
Lmao.....stork
this is a wonderful way to teach small children about childbirth instead of the whole pellican or whatever bird crap.
Jakob Innes Yes lol. Since babies come from magical trees that have been sprinkled with fairy dust from bee bunnies.
Jakob Innes Tru Dat.
Jakob Innes true, too bad I moved from Georgia before I could talk.
*Stork*
I don't have a life Look up the shower drain scene from the movie IT...thats how I was told childbirth was like...
That lady took it so seriously like i felt like i was watching a real cabbage birth a real baby
Screaming Aloe same
So what training is required to get licensed in patch nursing? Does it require a MSN?
If only labor was that easy. Lol this was weird but really cute.
Kitty Bot after everything got going in my delivery my son was born in literally 10 mins
Oh lord.. How can something that's supposed to be so adorable be so creepy at the same time?... Just imagine how much creepier it would be if the building was abandoned with all of those dirty cabbage patch faces staring at you while moving from time to time...
Bitey Bailey they wouldn't move
That lil kid at 12:00 had me dead
Focus Forever i'm laughing so hard
Mother cabbage has dilated to 10 leaves apart?????
If you, instead of adhering to the standard C.P.D. hospital birthing procedure, chopped off & shredded their heads, tossing in some vinegar for antiseptic purposes, would you have sauerkraut?
Yes she has
this place is actually really cute, I'd love to go there one day
as labor tech, they did some research. lol. 10 leaves instead of 10cm, magicillin, branch birth. lol! but we don't take oral temp or do reflexes like that. lol.
+Lynn K I'm glad it's based in science:)
The way they treated the dolls like real babies was really creepy. Same goes for the way they were moving while in the ground.
this sad.... there was like no one for the birth. when I went as a kid (back when it was more popular and on commercials) there were plenty of people at the place
There was people at the birth you didn't see them
That’s the evolution of time sadly. Like certain amusement parks are starting to not get as much traffic as it used to (and I mean I saw this before covid). Like lines would be 1-4 hours long but now the longest lines are usually an hour (before covid).
I was a big fan of Cabbage Patch as a kid and enjoyed this. As the mother of 4 boys it is not something I likely ever do. So, thank you for sharing your experience. I imagine some men would be hesitant to post this. I appreciate your dedication to your channel and audience.
This is unbelievably bizarre. How do you find this stuff lol
“Her names Sarah Marie” “*gasp* like me?!” “You’re Sarah Elizabeth” killed me 😂
I wonder how much a "Licensed Patch Nurse," pulls down a year?
Ah yes Babyland General. A true gem of Georgia. My grandma use to take me here as a tike.
*To the older one I mean. In the old hospital.
Was it better that these "new" one??!
+Hibikicos the original was better
I've been to the old one too. it was super cool
@@Trednash the original one was a crap ton better
As a cabbage patch doll collector. I loved this, yes it was a little awkward but still a delight. I’m 44 years old and collect a few different doll types, but I will always adore cabbage patch dolls the most
Enjoyed this place more than I expected when I visited. However, I did not witness the birthing process, and seeing it on this video makes me think that it is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.
As a child I was always kinda scared of those things...
now, I am fully traumatized...
Same 😅
I loved the bit at end! "The most beautiful thing I have ever filmed!" Lol
I’m so glad it wasn’t a branch delivery
I dont know why but this place feels very comforting to me. The place feels like the place you would go to in kindergarten or during a hospital visit. The nurse is really nice too.
No offense but you look just like that guy from toy story 2
OMG HE DOES 😂
Omg he does
Slyfy Gummy I work with a guy who looks like woody from toy story
Al
I think this might be the most uncomfortable thing I've ever watched
Lol
I miss the old one and unfortunately you can’t find almost any video or photos of it. It was much smaller and had a much more cozy, hospital feel. I went in the late 1980s in elementary school twice and decided I wanted to grow up to be a Cabbage Patch Nurse. A recording would play under cribs of a baby crying and a “nurse” in the old school uniforms would rush in, pick up a doll and feed it or rock it until the recording stopped crying. Freakin priceless, I tell ya. The new place is so cold looking and reminds me of a giant toy store. There is a news video story piece from the early 1980s as they VERY seriously explain how their hospital works. Just look for the “Bob Austin, PM Magazine - Cabbage Patch Kids” UA-cam video! You’ll love it.
I remember coming here after a trip to Helen. The strangest day of my life.i was so worried when Mother Cabbage went into labor.
Jet Rawls LOL I go every year my grandma works there.
Dude I love cabbage patch kids! So glad you went to babyland!
"what is TLC does anybody know?"
me- "the home of six midget shows."
+mrcoolpants39 nice!
this is extraordinarily creepy, like way creepier than it should be
Cas Asa true
what in the actual world do you have to do to be THAT type of nurse.
Be good at acting..idk xD
7 years of medical school and 4 of agriculture
Be delusional
This was incredibly uncomfortable to watch but thank you for doing this for your people.
This makes me miss my Cabbage Patch doll. I still remember her name (Marcella Suzanne).
Also, that LPN has the best job ever!!😍
I've been there!! I went there when I was like four and the place was PACKED, i think ppl were bidding on the babies? And? It was intense
Cool I wanna see that
That is really bizarre
I've been there and I go every year, My grandma works there. It's amazing. You should visit if you get a chance.
Hello moefoes My name is Carl That peice of Trash how is it actually? i never got there before
It's cutely weird
OMg I love that place. The place where Cabbage Patch Kids are born. So no its not unusual. Its just the place where they make Cabbage Patch Kids.
+thecarpetbagger did you adopt anyone while you were there
Supergirl 1996 im adopted so i would
OMG THAT SAME NURSE I SAW TODAY THERE :D
She must be the head (of cabbage) nurse
yeah i think so
I can't believe this still exists. I went here a few times in the 80s. Awesome stuff.
I loved the cabagge patch in the ground of the earth
She didn't support the baby's head.
I went to elementary school in Hiawassee, Georgia in the 1980s. When I was in the third grade, I remember a couple of school buses showed up completely full of teddy bears 🧸 from there. They gave each one of us kids one of those bears. It was so sweet of them. I wish that I still had mine!
This is the trippiest thing I've seen in a LONG time! Thx!
i liked watching the guy yelling on his phone on the front lawn around 4:00-4:09 omg she was putting her hands in the trees vag. i love this
I want to travel back to 1983 and buy a bunch of $40 Cabbage Patch dolls.
Wow! Thank you for taking me there. 👍🏼😉
I have never been more confused and intrigued in my life!
My mom had a cabbage patch baby or two as a child in the 70s and 80s. She would love a place like this. Although a tree giving birth is a little odd. But super cute at the same time(the babies, not the tree)
I am literally eating cabbage soup while watching this.
@@heathercuv6024 are you suggesting that they are a cabbage patch kid?
We have visited the Cabbage Patch hospital in the old building about 20 years ago, then we went through the new building and were lucky enough to be there when one of the babies was born. I loved it so much fun!!!
It's crazy every video of yours I click on I've been to with my grandma. Great channel!!
That was one of the most weirdest things I have witnessed in my life
"You look like a cabbage patch kid all grown up, and with something to prove"
Hi Jacob, I love it, this was an interesting And different video, thank you so much.☺️
It may be weird but this is one of my favorite places to go in Georgia!
*I feel like I just watched a demon being summoned*
Shout out to that kid who said "no. "
We just visited last month! We had never even heard of the Babyland General Hospital. Working as an OB nurse for 7 years, I found it very interesting!!!!!!!!!
always wanted to go here as a kid! part of me still kinda does, but my wife is terrified of dolls so i doubt it hahah
seems like such a weird, surreal experience, i love the employees' dedication to the gimmick
My kids and I have been there many times. It’s free and kids love it.
How did I get here 😂 I don't mind all the baby ones , just keep the adult one away from me forever !
domonique soliz that thing was TERRIFYING
Ahhhh Christmas 1983. I remember it well. I was 9. My parents were able to get me a Cabbage Patch Kid for Christmas that year (I think my dad scored one at the store he worked at when a shipment came in when he was working). I remember seeing stories on the news about riots at stores and malls of people fighting to get their hands on those dolls. They truly were THE hottest toy that Christmas. I remember hearing about this place when I was a kid but never went. Part of me kind of wants to see this now because it's so bizarre.
so cool! I went there when I was about six or seven. I got twins! lol
Did you watch the tree give birth with no socks on??
Xavier Roberts "birthmark?" ok, if that's what you want to call it, lol. Seriously, I never something like this existed. I had the Cabbage Patch Kid's book where it explained about how they're born in the crystal forest and everything. I remember I had it at a Weight Watcher's meeting with my mom, when I was 4, in the late '80s. I was showing it to all the other kids. I would've loved to have gone to a store like this back then.
Imagine someone asking that lady what she does for a living and she’s just like, “Oh I’m a nurse for cabbage patch kids 🙂”
I would love to explore places like these, but alas, I can't. My family would not approve.
I want my *Harold Brutus* back...I was in the hospital with Scarlet Fever and staff took him and he was destroyed because he was contaminated. I got better, but I still think about my doll and I miss him very much.. :(
Omg thank you for this!!! I am 39yr old and have always wanted to go to this place! This video has so got me wanting to really go now and experience it my mom and my own daughter
This is surreal! Thank you, Carpetbagger!
What happens after all of this? Do they take the doll to the person who named it and ask if they want to keep it????
+CosplayCore the charge 500 bucks for it
The Carpetbagger What??!
The Carpetbagger REALLY?!? THATS ALOT O_O
Is the afterbirth coleslaw?
@@boardskins yeah and when they die it's called sauerkraut.
Our family went there a few years ago. The kids liked it. Me umm not as much but they had fun so that is all that counts.
Hey Carpetbagger! I was just saying hi and to keep doing the amazing work! 👍
I can't believe I've never been to this wonderful place. Bravo sir :) I've been binge watching your videos because we have a lot in common seeing that we are both fascinated with unorthodox Art! :)
My mom has a bunch of cabbage patch kids from the 80s
+Erin Fangirls Too Much she could be rich if she sold all of'em lol
This is some crazy shit.
Its 4 am, I've been watching your videos for 4 hours now.
I went there when I was little, but it wasn't in that building. It was much smaller, with a bush surrounded play area to the side of it, with a Cabbage Patch Kid sign thingy, where you stand on a block and put your head through a hole for pictures. It was cozier, much darker inside the "birth" room, much like an actual forest, and it was packed with kids and parents. I don't remember them being so creepy about the "delivery" thing though, but that may be because it was probably around 10 years ago since I went there
That nurse is like help me I can't keep up with happyness and not to lose her job
Your history is a bit off on the creation of the Cabbage Patch Dolls. It is stated that the dolls were originally invented by a Kentucky artist named Martha Nelson Thomas. She first started making the dolls in the early 70s and would "adopt" them out to family and friends. The dolls eventually caught the eye of Xavier Roberts. After Martha denied him permission to sell her dolls, he stole the design and began making his own versions. Martha was not aware this happened until after the dolls were already selling in stores. Now, I do not know if she ever decided to take him to court or not. I am guessing she did not because not only was her doll design not patented, but he also slightly adjusted the dolls appearance.
Jacob, great video as always. For some reason this seems to be your most popular video.
That birth was beautiful. Nature is an amazing thing.
I used to collect cabbage patch kids
How many of us believe this woman thinks this is real
*slowly rises hand* She's a nice nurse.
Corncob Jenkins She probably make a little bit above minimum wage.
Corncob Jenkins she's just dedicated to her work
She's got an acting gig that's what it is.
Lol
She is the best Cabbage Nurse I have seen🙂
I went to the original Babyland General in 1985. My parents and I were on a road trip to and from Florida, and my mom was really big into collecting dolls, and she LOVED Cabbage Patch Kids...so she made us stop at Babyland General on the way home. Yep, my mom thought it'd be a dandy idea to make her 45-year-old husband and ten-year-old son go there. It was TORTURE for me!!!! I believe my mom walked out with two CPKs that day. So yep, I actually watched an adoption happen. They made her take an oath! Mom said that she couldn't understand half of it because of the lady's thick southern accent, so she just repeated back what she *thought* she heard. Man, I'm so glad that day is long in the past.
My mom said she used to play with cabbage kids but she lost it
Kid in the bacground .... PUSH!!!!!!!!
It honestly looks so magical & cosy there
OMG I looooooooooooved this, I had a doll back in '83 too, his name was Alexander Leroy Dallas, I think I still have the birth certificate too LOL , fab vlog Jacob, really brought back some fond memories, Thank You !! xxx
Am I the only one terrified by this? o.O
No
.
No, Ma'am, you are not. Esp. now that I've looked up to discover this was published on my b-day. Oh Lordie, I hope & pray that there be no cabbage in my family tree! Altho I like the og folkart the dolls were loosely based upon, I have always abhorred these little monstrous creatures & their twisted mythos. My foster sister loved 'em tho, & was, of course, gifted w/one for X-mas or a b-day when she was little. I'm surprised there's not a horror film starring C.P.D.'s (is there?) On the other hand, this video was great; the Carpetbagger is on the job!
No your not...
no at all
