Great review of a an iconic sports tourer! Subscribed! Owner of a 20'. Bought it used in March of 22' with 6k miles. Just rolled over 32k miles and the bike has been flawless. Mods done, cat/ resonator delete and replaced the hideous factor OEM can with a Leo Vince Signature Series end can ( removed 11 kilos from the bikes weight). ECU flash by Moore Mafia and suspensions upgrades by Traxxion Dynamics. Puig windscreen and a Givi V46 top case. Bike came OEM panniers. I really enjoy the bike and it lacks nothing. Great for eating up miles, fun in the mountains and twisty roads. It will be my last road road bike. I have a 08' SV650 track bike but I'm sure the SX would be more than capable on track just to have fun with!
My bike 🎉 this bike is an absolute dream ! After my first 3000 km I can only confirm your great report - worthy the value, awesome performance, comfort, and touring qualities.
I went on a Kawasaki demo day and this was 1 of the bikes I rode. At the time I owned a Ninja 400 and standing next to the Ninja 1000SX was kind of daunting. Once I sat on it and started going I felt right at home. This bike is amazingly comfortable and unbelievably flickable.. at first sight you wouldn’t think a bike this big and set up for touring would be so sporty!!! It’s without a doubt deserving of the title “Ninja” If you have any doubts you should ride one. Definitely on my dream bike list. Way outta my price range tho 😢
You could look at a 2014 Z100SX. They're pretty much the same bike, it's just missing some of the tech stuff. But the experience is just as good! I think they're going for around £4000 at the moment with decent mileage 👍
Got a 2014 z1000 myself - same motor....its just ticked over 25k (throttle body balance and valve check makes it as smooth as the day i picked it up) - owned it for 8 years now....no plans to sell it - performance upgrades are cheap - they can be custom mapped with lots of restrictions removed. Insanely reliable and looks better than any other naked out there....the Streetfighter V4 stole the zeds look. Mines been written off and i bought it back and put it back on the road....i dont think ill ever sell it, even if i stopped riding i think id just drain all the fluids and store it due to the amount of upgrades ive thrown at it over the years....Nitron suspension front and rear, marchesini wheels, full system, samco hoses, custom dyno map (142 at the wheel), slipper clutch upgrade from the newer model, Brembo calipers front and rear. Highly recommended.
Lovely bike the sx but I don't cover enough miles to warrant a tourer so I bought a brand new z1000r performance in 2020 I usually get a new bike every 2 yrs but liked the z1000 so much I still have the bike I absolutely love it when I park up it gets lots of attention of the young and old they will come up to me and ask me questions about it I feel proud it's my bike I will never sell it, it it's very comfortable endless power when you need it' it will easily give sports bikes a run for their money.good vid ride safe

Just got rid of my zzr14 and got a ninja 1000sx 2020. massive loss in power which has taken a bit to get used to but very very comfy. better on the twists and bends than the zzr was.

Just picked up a 2024 1000SX a month ago. Zero regrets, awesome machine. FYI: This bike does come with a 12V power outlet and a USB port as options, mine has both.
I test rode a 2024 model at the beginning of the year and managed to pick up a 2012 model with 25k on the clocks for £3500 in grey and I must say, after having dialled in the suspension and changing the oil in the forks I can’t tell much of a difference between the newer models and this one when it comes to handling, power and having fun. Sure, I don’t have all the tech on it but that’s all secondary to me. Best buy ever. It’s my daily commuter to work, touring bike and even this missus likes as a pillion. I’m really happy with the bike. It’s a little thirsty when ridden hard but what liter bike isn’t.
It has pretty much been the same bike for about 10 years. Every generation is really good! Just depends how much you want the tech of the later models 👍
I just traded my GTR1400 (Concours 14) for the 24 ninja 1000sx and I am confident when I tell you (For my Riding Style and needs) the Ninja is a better Bike. The acceleration is almost identical, the ergos are very, very close...but...the Ninja is about 180lbs lighter, its crazy flickable and handles much better. I have no regrets. The only things that Im not too keen on is the loss of a center stand and having to maintain the chain, other than that, for my riding needs the Ninja is perfect! I LOVE the Quick Shifter!
I’m looking to get the concours or this. Although I’m 6’1 bordering 2 and 235lbs. You think I’m going to be too big for this bike? I really want to get this instead now after looking at it? Would love to hear your advice on it. Ty 🙏🏼

I own a Ninja 1000 SX Performance Tourer and what impresses me is its manners, especially at speeds under 4MPH. The chassis must be brilliant because the balance is exquisite. I did put the lower seat on it as I am 5' 8". The only downside is I don't seem to know when I have stopped, which has resulted in a low speed drop to my right. I now trail my left leg out when coming to a stop. This makes the bike lean to the left where I can get the left leg down while covering the rear brake with my right foot.
