- An unedited interview with Chris Cornell about the Seattle music scene and the early days, success and the (temporary) end of Soundgarden. Ending with Chris' thoughts on Beck's Loser. Circa 2006.
So intelligent, articulate, sensitive...a pure soul. My heart is broken...he will be so sorely missed.
Eloquently descibed + deservedly so
💔 💚
LMAO
But we will forever have the music concert footage & interviews to look back on 🕊️🕊️🕊️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🔮🔮🥰🥰🥰 LOVE IS.😊LETTING GO TOO. Chris wouldn’t want us sad over this . I honestly like many conspiracy theories te rock stars we will never or are meant to understand) why this GENUIS & handsome man died so suddenly. Yes,I think back to the wifey. Damn just seeing her photos w him, creeped me out. Then she’s the bands manager ? Or wtf? Am I confusing Ozzy
This is such a powerful loss. He had such a pure clean voice. There will never be another Chris Cornell. I am not sure how many people realize just how many songs he has given us. Incredible songwriter. I am truly devastated. RIP my favorite singer. You will be missed. Thank God we will always have your beautiful voice. #Godspeed
Toni M So am I! I'm gutted!!😭
Toni M -- beautifully said --- CC had such profound message in every note... his haunting lyrics and deep soulful sound.
humble man....did good in the world. unless you followed ChrisCornell you didn't know the Charitable type he really was!
that's an authentic man without any EGO.
DiDi Girl21 you know your exactly right and in a million years I wouldn't believe this man committed suicide. This was just not in his character. I am not sure what happened that night but I refuse to believe he wanted to die.
Guuuutt'd ---- I'm with you girl. ChrisCornell wouldn't willing have taken his life. this man was MORE than his godgivengift 🎤🎸he was warm spirit - gentleman -- loving husband -- encouraging proud ass parent. he had more to do on this earth!! he should be here 😣
he felt grateful for life itself. CC stayed true to his convictions and was consistently on point - grounded guy! it's soooo dreadful to loose such a soul as ChrisCornell 😣😔🙁😢
Toni M He was definitely murdered. Check out Titus Frost site tells it all by a guy on his show named Randy .
He was so kind and never seemed to make anyone feel awkward. He seemed like a pleasure to interview.
He wasnt nice in person

@@heavenleighangel8999 that’s strange .. I worked with him many times & he was always kind even in stressful times . I call bs
Thank you, Chris for all the years you gave us with that amazing voice.
It has been a long time since I've cried when a famous person has died, but today I balled my eyes out. Depression sucks. It scares the hell out of me because I have had those thoughts cross my mind many times when I'm super down. You really don't have much control over it and it is so sad. My heart breaks for his family, I hope you're at peace now Chris. We'll miss you...
Right Coast same here man..
Right Coast Keep your head up man. I'm a huge soundgarden fan and I think the music.. the legacy he left us behind can enrich us and help color our lives.
Right Coast, I know that Chris wrote a lot of songs that delt with depression and, other psycho-social issues, but I think if you can perhaps think in the perspective that although some of these songs are disturbing or depressing, maybe we are all meant to hear their songs, listen to their lyrics, and think and meditate on these problems as a means of coping with the realities of our own lives, and perhaps help us to devise solitions to our own problems. After watching this video, I am inspired by many of the truths, opinions, and experiences he shared with us all. Thank you, Chris. You inspire me and I respect you, and your spirit, which is eternal, and will forever live in me. RIP Chris Cornell.
@Right Coast... and everyone else.... Chris's passing marked me significantly too.... I've cried, laughed, smiled and cried again, openly.... I came to this mans music, his thoughts and ideas in detail late to be honest but always been aware, either directly or vicariously through my nephew and his cohorts here in the UK.... It's a sad, sad loss... Chris appears to have a mass of respect from his peers in the music industry let alone from his hoards of fans of whatever band or aspect of his musical career.... All I have to say in essence is you're missed man...... A true hero.... Peace
RC: You CAN control it. Depression is THE most treatable mental illness. Get yourself some counseling and maybe on an antidepressant.
Man, Chris Cornell was extremely intelligent, and he could speak like a seasoned orator. His ability to recall all that music information, and give an intersting, thought provoking statement or opinion was astonishing. I really miss not taking the chance to see him live. He did stop in my town, Santa Rosa, CA on his solo tour, and I was working a night shift, and was very broke at the time. But I regret not buying tickets. I'm gonna see Pearl Jam again as soon as I can.
Chris was a very well spoken intelligent man. Also...I like the fact that the interviewer actually lets him completely answer the questions. Very professional.
RIP Chris. Depression absolutely sucks. I feel so bad for his wife and kids. they will miss their daddy. a scar that will never go away.
Chris was such a nice guy. So much so that on my birthday,unbeknownst to me,my friend,who said she knew him,asked Chris to come to a bar that he often hung out in,to wish me a happy birthday. I was sitting at the bar,and he walked up behind me.I saw him in the bar mirror,but it didnt register until he said Hi. I nearly fainted,I swear.Not only because he was my favorite singer,but as much because he was about the most beautiful man I had ever seen.Seriously tall,long wavy hair.Green eyes,..jeez. A really nice person,he stayed and visited with us for about an hour or so,then headed out to go home. This was in a bar under one of the overpasses that he frequented in Seattle. I'll never forget my best B'day gift,and my lasting memory of him. :}
Great memory to have! He was my favorite rock singer too - miss him.
He was the most beautiful man I have ever seen even online and print! Have you seen the When Bad Does Good” video that was just released in tribute to him with his son playing him when he was young? It is crazy how much his son looks like him and you almost think it IS a young Chris. I cried watching it
What a beautiful story & gift! He was awesome - famous or not- a sweet & lovely soul- beautiful inside & outside- with such honest blue/ green eyes. ❤️ He is missed everyday. I can not quite accept his departure from this world. I just do not understand how & why -with all the amazing beautiful people in this world that live & die - why he profoundly left a mark on my heart & soul to the extent that he did! May, God keep his soul in his loving eternal care & watch over his dear family.
April Cade His son has that sensitive soul that, Chris had. I can see it in his eyes. I pray, God guides this beautiful young man who has so many expressions & mannerisms of his lovely Dad.
This is really a good interview..what I get most out of this..is: STAY AS YOU ARE.....BEE TRUE !!! R.I.P

Mette Schieldrop I was just quoting the lyrics from Audioslave's classic "Be yourself" ✌
Heartbroken. He understood the pain and he created art. His songwriting speaks to the soul of anyone who's suffered depression. The news today affected me deeply. God, life is hard. For everyone.
RIP Chris ♥
Amen to that...
He was extremely handsome
Dear Shelley He is very weird looking
totally agree with you shelley
He was extremely gifted
Gifted, intelligent, charismatic, and VERY striking. *sad*
j9andphoenix what was the song called that has a lyric in it that says - "I've got you to abuse, you to abuse" ......... I love that song but can never remember the name of it! Anyone?
In all of his interviews I think the thing that strikes me the most is how attentive and open he is. A lot of people being interviewed (especially celebrities, etc.) feel like its a chore and you can see it written all over their face. (Partially because most of them do it so often) He treats everyone the same in all of them, simple things like this speak volumes.
I’d also like to point out the fact that the interviewer is fantastic. He never interrupts once and lets Chris talk until he’s finished what he’s saying. So many interviewers these days insist on interrupting constantly.
So glad I watched this. Couldn't take my eyes and ears off of it. Chris was so real, straight up and humble throughout the interview. Nothing was sugar coated. There's nothing pretentious about him. Soothing voice as well. Amazing interview but just makes me sad to realise the world has lost somebody so talented, down to earth, intelligent and by all accounts a good and kind man.
Chris, you heart breaker 😞
So talented, creative, and intelligent. A sad loss for the world today.
Strong interview,RiP Cornell.
A sad day today! I had the privilege of seeing Chris Cornell with Audioslave and fell in love. His music helped me through some difficult times...thank you! Rock on in Heaven!

Chris was so many wonderful things
Such an articulate talker and a deep thinker . His loss was immense!
Smart, good looking, talented, prolific songwriter and very rare with his sound.
My heart broke when I heard of his passing. From Soundgarden, to Temple of the Dog to Audioslave and his outstanding solo career, there will never be another like him.
His speaking voice is kind of high as well. The way he could use his voice is just amazing; no one compares.
Just masks the depression so well..often you think of a depressed person as a low speaker just a sad gone..def dont pick up that with Chris
I followed this man's career and music closely for 3 decades. I never thought he was appreciated in his lifetime as much as he should have been. Ultimate rock frontman, so down to earth, charismatic and talented. He will never be surpassed. I have not processed his loss yet, so traumatic for the world of music, his family and his fans. RIP.
Misty Beethoven just like Amy Winehouse and other artists who had substance abuse and mental health issues in their lifetime, Chris is only being appreciated after he died. It breaks my heart that we didn't appreciate him ENOUGH. 😔
He was more than appreciated in his time over appreciated I think
There is something more tragic than anything about knowing those that understood us are gone. Especially Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington.
He seems so gentle when he speaks.
He seems,not his seems.
Now that I think about it all of the big 4 Seattle singers were very soft spoken, strange coincidence I guess .
And yes Chris, you will (and have) become timeless and your records are already "classics."
he was so kind, and humble.
RIP Chris, a beautiful man with a great voice. My thoughts goes to his family, especially his children.
Didn't realize he was so intelligent, he sounds like he had a very high IQ.
Most gifted artists do have very high IQs
Erick Tsiknopoulos Why do you think he got depressed and killed himself?
It's entirely possible he wasn't experiencing a period of depression or suicidal thinking whatsoever, despite what happened. Never underestimate the affect of medication with a walking sleep component. People are physically capable of all kinds of activities minus any real consciousness, memory, or intent. Happens every day. And hearts & lives are shattered.
Probably a moment of psychosis. It doesn't seem planned.
Yep 100% agree. I'm really sick of all these people online saying that it was his "depression" (which he had conquered years ago and seemed less of a "chemical imbalance" than just his state of mind due to life events) and he "just couldn't take life anymore," (LMAO), "he hinted at it in his lyrics just go read his lyrics he's been wanting to kill himself for 30 years" (LMFAO) "he hated his wife and mother in law and couldn't escape them so he killed himself and now they're trying to 'rewrite the narrative' to make it seem like he wasn't in his right mind," and then there's the conspiracy theories which range from "the government killed him because he was going to expose an elite Pizzagate pedo ring" to "his wife had him killed to be with the bodyguard and inherit all his millions and be free of him". All of these people are deranged and sick. They are actually going to great lengths to gossip and insult Chris's wife and mother in law calling them "gold diggers" and the like, pages and pages of these gossip posts on forums and article comments. It's really sick.
A brilliant singer and a brilliant songwriter.
And, from what it seems, he was also a very nice person.
Triple loss.
I miss that voice SO much
Me too
His married md
One of the few artists that I truly miss. Such a talented and humble man, his lyrics are deeper than what society realizes.
Legend. Badmotorfinger is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.
Intelligent, humble and all round nice people make the best music
Matt Lewis Its sooo true
The world lost one of it's treasures.. What a privileged to have a Great Artist, Humanitarian, Advocate, Philanthropist, and an All Around, Good Guy our generation ever had. I literally felt a pain in my heart when I learned of his death
very intelligent, handsome, composed, kind & classy! Wow, i don't regret being a Cornell fan since 1998 (a soundgarden fan since 1995) Thanks for posting this interview. I'm still in disbelief of his passing 😪😢RIP Chris Cornell ♥︎
A brilliant and articulate man with the best Rock voice EVER. Such a loss to all of us.
Smart, polite, well spoken, talented, grounded. What a shame he was a tortured soul that left too soon.
Really awesome to hear Chris's perspective. He gave a great wealth of details on the evolution of the industry, how many bands like Soundgarden played a part in that, and what that meant to him.
He was an incredibly talented and gifted man.
Almost 3 years later and this still hurts so bad. You can tell he was such a free hearted loving guy 💙
He had to free himself from what can be such a horrible world. We still love you Christopher John Cornell.
He was actually trying to free himself from Vicki. Next thing you know he's been killed by the body guard hired by Vicki after she convinced Chris he was being stalked.
The kindness in his face,
I wish i had met Chris at least once in my life. Only once! So i could give him a strong hug! Really strong! The only singer i cried for he's death really...
Me too. I still cry. He said he just wanted to play his music for like minded people to hear. And we did! I don't think he really realized the extent of "how" he touched all of us. An amazing soul. RIP Chris. My heart goes out to your kids and family. 💔
He was like a big, beautiful panther.

He's a good listener, which makes him a Great person to Interview because he responds with his mind. And also his personality and he"s honest.
Very very cool. Intellectual personable. Very down to earth.
Its impressive to hear him speak on music and The beginnings of Sound garden and the Seattle.Music scene from those early days.
Couldn't have said better myself.
I find it ironic that Chris did a tribute to Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone who was a room mate early on and in the lyrics he says "You were hurting so bad,but you never said anything to me".
The Bicycle Chronicles Very often men keep their most vulnerable feelings to themselves - sometimes to their harm. 💔
You expected Andrew to open up on his pain?
@@heidivernathorbjornsen2525 I feel both guys didn't want to be seen as vulnerable. Also Chris was away on tour alot so Andrew might have not been able to contact him. Damn I wish those teens had Internet, instant contact and mobile phones back then things might had been easier? I'd do anything to go back in time and put a mobile in each of their hands, instead of the mics they were holding, if only for a moment. I hope that makes sense
MY God those eyes...my heart is broken and I cant handle the rabbit hole..of Chris Cornell :( I cry and cry and cry
In my opinion he was one of the most handsome musicians I have ever seen😍
Can't think of too many other Frontman Rockstars who were this down to Earth and humble. Miss this guy
Super charismatic and articulate
Mega rock star but speaks like your reserved intellectual best bud. We need you back chris
"Heaven sent hell away.... No one sings like you anymore"....... RIP you amazing, talented, beautiful man. ❤
I love listening to Chris when I am lonesome and want to relax. That is one of the great things about the internet listening to a role model who isnt in this world anymore. Love you Chris
Such a sensitive, insightful and beautiful soul. Immensely talented. Incredibly sad that he couldn’t see the feeling would pass and it would come again and pass again. RIP
it never really passes for some people. he’d been struggling since he was very young and it changes the way your brain works.
I want to take my own life because I can’t sleep

Truly an artist, genuine, a craftsman. Never faked it, always passionate. Such a loss for us all.Massey Hall, Toronto, such a privilege to have seen him Shine! Not possible not to shed a tear remembering him in every song I hear him sing to this day, thank you Chris.
So true. There will never be another Chris Cornell. Miss him so much.
Im still rocked to my core over Chris being gone from us. His music spoke volumes to me over the years. Sunshower and seasons have played over and over in my head since hearing hes gone. Ive never been this crushed over the loss of a celebrity in my life. Depression and anxiety caused me to completely lose all hope some years ago and I left a suicide note on my ex wifes car then I drove to the mountains to walk off a cliff. Sunshower came on the radio and described my pain completely. instead of killing myself I went and got help. That wouldnt have happened without Chris. I will never get over this tragic loss.

Made me laugh @ around 16:45 talkin about and imitating completely disappointed friends looking around Soundgarden's backstage dressing room...no drugs? No prostitutes, huh?--no groupies? Just the band having round-table discussions & arguments about philosophy and playing records for each other...Funny ;) I like this interview...(even though u can barely here the questions :/ ) Chris=adorable!! I'm still so stunned he's no longer with us..... what a HUGE loss..... :-(
Chris was so awesome, so intelligent and beautiful. I find it so sad that he said the band wasn't into drugs in the early days, and yet drug addiction is what ended his life. Rock will never be the same without him, and Soundgarden's music will definately stand the test of time and become classic. It's still so painful to hear his music knowing he's not with us anymore. There will never again be anyone like Chris Cornell.
I feel so sad...That Chris isn't part of our world anymore.

What a man. What a mind. Damn he will be missed...
Saw Chris with Soundgarden on LOLLAPOLOOZA 92 which overall was better than 93 and 94 minus Alice In Chains (93). Included Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush, Rage Against The Machine, Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Stone Temple Pilots, Temple of the Dog. Chris blew everyone away with those amazing vocals into the stratosphere! Love and miss the sound of that man’s voice! I find myself crying at the beginning of Hunger Strike. RIP CHRIS!

Gifted, beautiful, intelligent, insightful, informed, soulful. My heart breaks for you and the final moments of your beautiful life. See you on the other side, Chris.
Chris was just a really beautiful person and a very kind soul...he is really really missed....😏😏
Rest in peace. I remember seeing Soundgarden live at Lollapalooza in '95. They had a great set, and when they finished, Chris threw the mic up into the light rigging above the stage. It took them awhile to get it back down before Metallica could come on, but it kind of made a statement- then and now. Who could follow him? That time is gone, but that is when music had more personality.
