Awesome! I thought about the 9.9 EFI but it was a little more $$ What do you think about the EFI? I am going to replace the carb on my 8hp and make it a 9.8hp. Should be any easy swap.
Thanks for the video, I have a 8hp Tohatsu that came with sailboat. Is Tohatsu 8 the same as the 10hp or 9.8? I can change the Oil while its on the sailboat stern, but the gearcase oil will be harder to change on the stern. Hmmm. I guess Tohatsus can flip up if hit a log or line if in Forward, but is locked vertical in Reverse or Neutral, which makes sense.
The 8hp Tohatsu is the same engine as the 9,8 ho just with a different carburetor. In fact I am upgrading the carb ob mine so it will be a 9.8. Watch for video on that coming soon!
@@CruisingCalypso ... I also have the 6hp tohatsu and its so loud and choppy compared to the 8hp,,, guess thats 1 vs 2 cylinders for you..... If I have 5000 lb sailboat I guess I will never rev engine enough so upgrading carb to get 10 not 8hp will ever matter I assume,,,, but I am impressed if you pull that off... Thanks
im looking to get the 2021 8hp ..this give me an idea how big it is and what to expect.. should be the same size.... how is it carrying around lifting and putting on the boat? lightweight enough ? because thats what i will be doing taking it off and on each time and hopefully it wont be too heavy to be a hassle doing that and probably just get the 6hp but at the same time 8 would be more ideal for my type of use .. thanks
Hi Thanks for watching. Prviously I put my 3.5hp on and off each time, that is 37 pounds and not too bad. the 8hp is 84 pounds and could be awkward to lift on and off. Not rally a one handed operation if you have to hold on to something for balance. I plan to keep the 8 on the dinghy all the time.
Hi, just bought the same engine for the coming season. still need to put the engine oil in and start it. Please can you tell me were you got the adapter to screw into the engine for the hose pipe ? Many Thanks
Hi. Thanks for watching! sure. The adapter is called motor muffs, because it looks like ear muffs. It is available at West Marine or other similar store for short money.
Unfortunately No one can see what you’re looking at, example when you where showing cleanliness of the oil stick, we didn’t see it! A stand might be something to consider if you intend to do more of these videos or have someone assist you, thanks for the video
Just got my new 2021 tohatsu 9.9 efi mounted on my 13’ gheenoe.
Love it!
