Great question! The motor weighs about 83 lbs, w/o electric start. Its a little awkward to move around but not bad. I can tell you that this motor on a 13 foot inflatable will be underpowered. The engine can plane my 10 foot rib w/two people but not with three. We are talking smaller people too. A 13 for boat needs a 15 at least or even a 25 if you want to plane. For comparison, think about a Boston Whaler 13 sport which often has a 40.
@@CruisingCalypso thank you for the replied, i would be going camping and bring the boat to go fishing or cruising, not looking to go fast, also i want to make sure I can put it in the boat with no too much effort. I'm planning to inflate the boat at the destination and deflated once done, so i would be putting and taken the motor often, so that's why I'm thinking on something small like 8hp. Thanks again for your information.
I bought one. Must have put it on and off my row boat 5 or 6 times. Yesterday it fell into the water :(. It’s heavy and awkward. I have to replace all the oil and clean the carb out now. I’m hoping I can get it to start again after it being drowned.
Did this modle have a oil filter
Hi, very informative forna beginner like me. One question, did you use marine oil
Hi, Thanks for your comment. The oil is not specific to marine use just use the recommended weight and viscosity.
Does 8hp tohatsu have oil filter, like 9.9?...
How hard is to lift this engine? I'm planning to buy this engine to used in a 13ft inflatable boat.
