I was amazed and delighted to find this video, and after a five-minute bit of "surgery," I had nice bright dash lights on my drive to work this morning. Thank you!
Hope did it work. Do you strip the wires and connect the red and white and red wire together?
What if you leave the paper clip in and did you disconnect the red and red/white wire or just connect a wire to both of then

Nice.. it worked for my 2000 Honda Prelude. The only difference is I had to use the solid red wire and the white w/red stripe that goes to my dimmer control. Works!
Were your taillights out too. My instrument panel, taillights, and tag light went out and can not find the problem

Thanks SOOOOOO much!! the mechanic told me that my instrument cluster needed to be replaced so I bought a used one and it still didn't work. So I did what you said and my lights finally work. It sucks that I bought another instrument cluster but I still achieved something.

Thank You! Installed an Alpine, made the usual mistake, I guess. I guess every wire does NOT go to something. lol Fried something in My multiplex control unit.. Ended up attaching my Red/BLK to nothing (just cut), and grounded the red. Changed blown fuses 9&10 in passenger fuse box, and did Your trick.. Working good! Thank You So Much! Will this work on an Acura 1999 TL - as I have a similar issue where the headlight assembly was replaced on the passenger side with a 2000 TL headlight assembly. The headlights work now but the Instrument Panel, Climate Control and Factory Stereo lights do not come on at all (day or night). I was wondering if this fix would work for my issue. Thanks again.
this was super cool.my daugter honda accord 1994 had this prblem but i discover went i was in her car one night and the light did not work.i got scare because was not safety for a teen to be driving like that,looking at this video 3 to 4 time,I her mom took the car apart and fix it.thank you a lot.

Thanks for this video, I've been driving my accord for 3yrs like this, i replaced my dash clock with the newer year one and it blew out the cluster lights, now im going to try this out tomorrow, SOOOOOOOO COOOLLLLL
@760tone you bypass the dim function. All other functions will work and other components will not be affected.
thanks, this fix worked wonderful on my 2000 honda accord, we had already changed the computer once, and it lasted about a week, then was black for a yr. and now it works again,
@ Mohammed Kibriya - when I tried this it also blew my #10 fuse on the passenger side. This can be a risky fix. I'd recommend just getting a new computer and making sure if you hook up an after-market stereo that you leave the orange dimmer wire un-connected. I'm fairly certain this is what caused my computer to go.

Nailed it. The dash light fuse is good. Has aftermarket radio

I just did this in my 01 and it worked. Make sure you have the correct wires connected.
So did you cut the wires and then add them together, or do the wires need to stay in place, and you added a wire between them?
I'm sure this is the same for 2001 Civic LX coupe right? I put in a radio and something burn up and smoked but the radio works but my gauge lights quit. Thanks for the video. First one video that popped up. I love UA-cam haha

I just wanted to thank you for taken the time and posting it in Uribe it actually worked.my son is a bright and talented young man so I showed him how to repair it by using a small speaker wire and a paper clip and we fix it .it saved us a lot of time and money,

Well that’s helpful!! I don’t think that’s my problem on mine even tho I have an aftermarket radio. If I hit my Custer a few times mine will work again till I hit a few bumps and it’ll go out but I’ll def try this and see what happens since it’s easy enough lol

just bought me a 95 accord and i have the same problem, i checked all the fuses but there is no blown fuse at all..is this going to work at 95 accord?
Having similar issues with my 1998 honda civic. Instrument cluster lights, HVAC lights, and shifter lights (automatic) all out. Thing is, they come back on after a minute of driving. Only having issue lately. One time I smacked the dash and they came on. Strange. Could the multiplex computer be failing but not completely?

Hey bro, I was wondering if you had any idea what I could do for my 02 civic. I found a couple people that had same problem, and no answer still. Our right blinker light and check engine lights won't illuminate and that's it. But obviously it's kinda an important thing to have and trying to figure out what the deal is.. any info would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Thank you a heap of times! This worked but I accidentally put the wire in the pin with the red wire white stripe instead of white wire red stripe. Turned the lights on and they worked for about 30 seconds then went out? Where do those two wires end up?

How did you guys do this for a long term fix? I used a decent gauge wire and some wire crimps/wire nuts and the wire got really hot and started smoking. I turned it off and could hardly stand to touch the wire nut/crimped fitting. I followed the video to a T. Pretty simple.
Just did it to my 99 coupe. A blue scotch lock wire connector worked perfect on mine. Just peel back some of that foam insulation so you can get the wires side by side.
I have a problem in my accord where the illumination lights that you replace in this video are fine, but the light for the gear D4 are out. Is that just another lightbulb I need to replace? And how do I do that? Thanks

I tried it on a 98 accord it worked great. Thanks a lot.
On a 1994 Accord LX, you have to jump the black wire (left most, in slot1) with the red wire (three slots over in slot4). I figured this out by taking out the dimmer switch and seeing three wires... black, red, and red/black. BTW, the dimmer switch does not have to be connected nor the other two green connectors to the instrument cluster. Only the left most green connector (w/ the black and red wires going into it) needs to be connected into the instrument cluster to test all this.

hello I have 96 Acura 3.5 with the same problem it seeing the same end there is power at the same cable do you can help me please.
what year, ya it can work mine had different colors as well but I figured it out by doing the paperclip test, put one end of the paperclip in the dimmer pin usually red and try the first pin hole on the right side, not sure if this helps but it worked for me and mine was red wire to the green and red wire, good luck
what mine does is the dimmer works fine. but only the speedo bulbs light up and the tachometer doesnt and the gear indicator lights will be on until i turn on the park lights than they go out . all warning lights work all the time. all the bulbs are new

The one that came of my car was white and I grabbed another one but this box was blue and it had the same code but at the bottom it said CZ AZ
and the Blue DMC had CX AX. Does it have to be the exact same for it to work?

@@Mustita1000 There is a little white box on the bottom left corner under the steering wheel that needs to be replaced on the Civic if I remember correctly.
My 01 accord I have to slap the top of the right side of the dash and the lights come on.. there a short and maybe the welds on the cluster board. But on my 02 accord the multiplex went out. So the by pass work so I can pass my brake and lamp inspection.

My car is 2000 Accord Coupe V6. I installed new radio. Turned lights on and some strange sound squeeked and that was it. My dashboard doesn't work, same problem. Trying to figure out where exactly the problem is but nobody tells me for sure. From internet I figure out I have to replace the MBCU, from shops they tell me to replace the cluster. What's the best way to diagnose the problem so I know what to fix/replace? Please contact me! Thanks!!!

I have a 97 Accord. My problem is the panel lights won't stay lit. They will stay lit for a few seconds and then go out. If I push dimmer switch knob in and out they will come on again for a few more seconds. Could the problem be the dimmer switch itself ?
You have corrosion /or dirty on those contacts (bulbs' contacts & dimmer switch's rheostats).
ATG suggests using CRC 5103 Quick Dry Electronic Cleaner.
And an ink easier on the PCB's arc bulb contacts.
Now I have the same issue with my '97 Odyssey. Have you managed to disassemble the switch and clean it? did it solve the problem?
btw for how much time will this work for will it mess up any other component in my car ?

I have a 97 Honda Accord 2.2L and the wires are different colors than yours. Can you tell me what colors to connect to do this. And a link too. The top left where yours is red mine is black and where you have a red and white I have a green orange stripe with white dots.

I did exactly what you said with the paperclip and that was the problem, the lights came on with the bypass. Then i snipped it and ran the jumper wire between the two and now it wont work, is there something i'm missing? Any advice would be greatfully appreciated. Thank you

Ok, so my lights somewhat do light up, most of the speedometer lights up, but the rest is very dim, and the odometer that shows how far you've driven is dark too. How do i fix that?

Just had this issue, no dash lights, no parking lights and no tail lights, but I had headlights and brake lights. Here is was a relay under passenger dash. When I would turn on light switch I could hear it clicking under passenger dash down by the feet area. It's hard to see but it's there. I had a leak when it rained and it would make my passenger floor wet and wore out that relay.
How can I find more about this relay on the passengers side floor?

Bro i hope you can help me, 1999 accord coupe V6 , my dome light was working perfect untill today i put a led light to it, and it was working well, but today i take it of and some how when i was taking it of, i blow the 7.5 A interior light courtesy light, i replace it put the regular light and and all the lights work, but the dome light still in ( on ) position. it wont shut off, if i close the doors lef and right the doors lights will go off, but the dome light not. Is in the center position, what could be the problem it was working well before please can you help me tnxs

I change my head unit to an after market one n blew my instrument cluster on my crv. When I turn the lights on it doesn't light up n when I indicate left or right both indicators come on. Will the paper clip help with my problem or should I buy a new instrument cluster..?? HELP!! Driving in the dark!!
Fixed illumination on my 02 Honda odyssey through this fix. Just so people know it's the solid red wire on the left and the mostly white with red wire to the most left.
I got confused cause there's 2 white and wires next to each other and it was hard to see in the video.
Be sure to stick the paperclip deep. I had this problem after installing an aftermarket stereo.

ok look man i know your probably really busy or something but i really need to know its my only car and i need it to go to work at night and i cant see the speed im driving at in the highway. i have a 94 honda accord and i did what this video said but it seems that the cables are diffrent colors and it didnt work i also changed the light bulbs and i tryed the fueses and the switch evrything i justwanted to see what the cables im suppose to connect on this honda are?
