I've been playing this for years by the Hal Leonard book and always skipped the solo. I can't solo for shit, but this might be the way for me. I just suck at reading tab solos. Seeing it broken down so well gives me confidence. Thank you. A drummer.
AtomiKat Light Industries Slow is the secret...you can do it brother. We are all on the musical journey. Take your time and persistence is the key. Rock on and love from Australia
Same! For like 20 years playing this song without the solo, spent an afternoon watching this and I've got it down packed - this was a great tutorial for sure.
The best guitar tutorial i've seen on youtube. No superfluous ego bollox. Just the right info. trusts the student to work it out sometimes and discover by feeling and hearing . You're funny to. Perfect. Thanks.
The Siamese Dream album was my favorite album for years. I feel sorry for people who have never listened to it. From what I've seen, the song Silver Fuck from that album wasn't as popular as the other songs, but I loved that song.
It’s a stellar album. All killer, no filler. The early -mid nineties were awesome with this album. This album is permanently etched into the deepest recesses of my brain. Could’ve been all the acid too 🤣. Ahh, good times.
You really teach this well. Better then anyone else on youtube. How about "silver fuck" off of the same album. Its a killer song that nobody has ever tough on youtube.
I really like the way you play it. I think the chorus sounds better with the power chords instead of the open chords used on the studio version. Your version of the solo is also awesome. The studio version of the solo is so hard to recreate since they mixed two tapes together and used in-studio effects for it, but your solo sounds better than the studio one in my opinion without those special effects. Good job!
Nice lesson man.. Helped me nail the solo better .. One small thing though- Rather than play power chords on the D to A chord in the verse... Billy plays his D chord on the E string 10th fret, A string 9th fret and G string 11th (mute D B and e) while playing the A chord on D string 11th, G on 9th and B on 10th while James takes that same D chord shape i showed you slides it down to the 5th for the A... (You can do either for the A) You'll hear the difference immediately
Hey P-Stache, These videos kick ass... How bout talkin about your guitars sometime? Your gear in general actually... Like what mods have you done to the strat and tele?
Youre playing the powerchords to the actual chords they are playing, i understand this is maybe more for beginners, but it is not how they actually play it.
The constant down-strumming is going to limit how good this stuff sounds. If you check out live performances of this song you'll see Corgan is almost constantly alternating down and up strokes in a mesmerizing way.
RJ Money Not only that it’s honestly easier to play this with alternate picking. Strange decision to consistently down pick, but hey, good lesson aside from that.
You teach like jack black and sound like him and kinda resemble him haha! I could listen to your tutorials all day throw in some attitude like the d and KG man keep it up
Oh man you didn't do a big loud YEAHHHHH! That time! You don't know it, but when you open the video with a bit of the song and then go YEEEEAAAHHHHH!!! really enthusiastically it pumps me up tp learn the song!! This time you kinda just went "yeah". 😂
Thank you, i’ve been wanting to learn this song for a while and honestly the other videos are confusing but this one is easy to understand. Thank you once again.
@papastache102 Thanks for this. If you like Smashing Pumpkins I challenge you to teach " Hello Kitty Kat", the chords are simple, but I can't wrap my head around the lead parts.

Great tune! Great album as well!

Damn...That strat growls man ...BADASS TONE!!
Dude thank you. This was so easy to understand. I love the Pumpkins.
Awesome! Glad you liked it!
I think we all know how much better Billy Corgan would be if he were to grow back his hair and a sick 'stache.
only if he could do that lol :D
Man, you look like Frank Zappa.
lol
No he doesn't--doesn't even slightly resemble him.
Anthony Kiedis?
he does lmao
It's the moustache
I have recently re-visited the entire Siamese Dream album after quite some years hearing it and it still sounds so fresh. Great album.
Definitely one of my favourites
Subbed. Really impressive how well you teach. Patient, detailed, fun.
PS: I typed that before you got to the solo, now I bow. Thanks.
0:24 YAAAAAAAAAAHH LMFAO IM DYING
Played this album, “Dirt” by AIC, and “Superunknown” pretty much every day my sophomore year at Michigan State. Such a great ERA
For sure! Great tunes back then!
Are you me?

I know right, especially with the dancelectro tilted pickup on the bridge
You really teach this well. Better then anyone else on youtube. How about "silver fuck" off of the same album. Its a killer song that nobody has ever tough on youtube.
Thanks! Hmmmm I'll check that one out. They have so many good tunes! He is such a good writer.
Awesome lesson. You break it down barney style for big dummies like me. Thanks

Thanks Tim! Check out the new one I did on my channel! Much more in depth.
If I had a guitar teacher like you when I first started taking lessons, I would already know how to play this song.
Haha! Thanks!
Thanks mate, really enjoy your lessons, easy to follow, very appreciated
Sure thing!
Fantastic mustache, sweet strat, cool lesson. Trifecta
Lol!

'Stache -- you're awesome! Great lessons, man
You are welcome! Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks! I did an updated version on my channel. Check it out and see if you like that one.
Great lesson, you nailed this one!
Great tone! Nice lesson. Thank you.
Sure thing! Glad you liked it!
This solo is sooooooo fun
It's a good one!
8 years late, but glad I found you
Awesome! Welcome!
thanks so much papastache!! I have a cheap guitar as my first guitar but it is better than not having one :D
That is true! I've seen some exceptional music played on cheap guitar! It's all about the player :)
(You can do either for the A) You'll hear the difference immediately
certainly not Billy's greatest solo but its up there....the phrasing is to tasteful and amazing. Great video brother!!
Thanks Man! You have great taste in music!
Yeah brotha !! Btw loved you on Lucky Louie 💪😎
Thanks! Whats Lucky Louie?
Awesome job man, thank you! Just became next on my learn list...
Thank you sir! Thanks for tuning in!
Excellent.
That guitar + amp sound incredible
Mr. Stache, please teach us how to play Quiet and Soma, also by the pumpkins. Thank you.
spot on solo!
Lesson 1: Fuzz is fun. Got it! Thx man!
great lesson easy to follow like others love to discuss gear mods in perticular and recomended distortion pedels etc
Thanks for the lesson papa!!
Thanks very much for this. Great lesson. This will be great with my new fuzz pedal.
+Matthew H Sweet! I'm sure it will! Thanks for watching!
thanks!! I have been trying to figure it out myself but it isn't working out and this video help out a lot! thanks :)
You are welcome!
Billy also plays the chorus using Major chords, C, G, D and A. Not power chords. Not being a critic, just trying to help.
Thanks a lot, man! You Rock
For sure! Thanks for watching!
Well done sir. Well done!
Ya got style bro...🤘
Thanks!
solo at 7:58. props to Mr. Corgan that is a freaking awesome solo. I think he used fender blender fuzz, univox superfuzz or some kind of octave fuzz.
I think it was the big muff pedal
Abide the stache!
Hey P-Stache, These videos kick ass... How bout talkin about your guitars sometime? Your gear in general actually... Like what mods have you done to the strat and tele?

Sick tutorial man, helped a lot
Sweet! Glad I could help!
Great lesson thank you
Oh yeah!!!!!!! Great great great!!!!!!
Excellent - thanks for sharing.
Youre playing the powerchords to the actual chords they are playing, i understand this is maybe more for beginners, but it is not how they actually play it.
Don’t they just to the open chords D, A, C, G?
Can you play the whole song including solo one time through?
The constant down-strumming is going to limit how good this stuff sounds. If you check out live performances of this song you'll see Corgan is almost constantly alternating down and up strokes in a mesmerizing way.
RJ Money Not only that it’s honestly easier to play this with alternate picking. Strange decision to consistently down pick, but hey, good lesson aside from that.
great instruction...thanks!
You teach like jack black and sound like him and kinda resemble him haha! I could listen to your tutorials all day throw in some attitude like the d and KG man keep it up
Thanks! Glad ya like them!
it could be a two guitar thing but i thought that the E on the progession before the solo was the E/G# octave chord
Excellent!!
Oh man you didn't do a big loud YEAHHHHH! That time! You don't know it, but when you open the video with a bit of the song and then go YEEEEAAAHHHHH!!! really enthusiastically it pumps me up tp learn the song!! This time you kinda just went "yeah". 😂
That video was before that was a thing lol! Thanks for watching!
Great lesson. Can you tell me which foot pedals you are using for this?
That was a long time ago haha! Maybe a Wampler Pinnacle?
_YEAAAAAAAAH_

Great stuff.
Song suggestion: maybe some Pearl Jam - Given To Fly ?
What year is your guitar dude?! Looks awesome!
It is a Bill Nash relic from about 6 years ago. Some of those bumps and scratches are real though haha!
+papastache102 What color is it? Never seen it and I love it. And what pickup is on your bridge?
Texturas75 someone else asked this. The bridge pickup in the video is a DiMarzio Tone Zone.
Thanks man you're awesome
No you are awesome!
think it is funny when he yells "YEA" in the beginning
Thank you, i’ve been wanting to learn this song for a while and honestly the other videos are confusing but this one is easy to understand. Thank you once again.
Awesome! Thanks for checking it out!
fuzzes are fun!!!!
What kind of guitar is that? Sounds sick.
Thanks! Bill Nash 60's Strat with Lollar pickups.
Great tone. :)
Great job teaching this song. Curious what pick ups you've got in that Strat. Mostly curious about the humbucker. Thanks.
At that time it was a Dimarzio Tone Zone
Thanks!
You could use you’re thumb to cover the low e that’s what I do
Any chance you can do the solo for Soma please? I just cannot work it out in my head.
Hmmmm, I'll check it out!
@@BrettPapa Legend.
@papastache102 Thanks for this. If you like Smashing Pumpkins I challenge you to teach " Hello Kitty Kat", the chords are simple, but I can't wrap my head around the lead parts.
your tone is fucking awesome
Thank ya sir!
