Yep Rick Beato brought me here too. Glad he did. I am 69 years old have have followed prog rock since I was 19 when I first heard Yes. It is always so exciting to hear and see fresh and vibrant and really good younger talent. Cheers.
@@ryanchappell1506 thanks much. I learned along time ago not to discuss music, religion or politics with people because they like what they like. But in my experience people who enjoy prog rock are more inclusive and accommodating kinds of people than others - you included Ryan. Cheers and best.
Bill, I first heard Yes's 'Close To The Edge' in 1990 when I was 15 and that album alone changed my life! Not to mention 'Fragile' and 'Relayer' also. The band Yes had such original pioneering talent in their line up and really pushed the envelope during the 70's. It's awesome you have found yourself here appreciating Plini, an artist who has given me belief that there are still avenues to be searched in music. Plini's bass player Simon Grove is an absolute master on his instrument as well as the band's studio engineer and producer. Plini is incredibly talented and he has been blessed to source some of the best talent over the years for his band to ensure his live show matches the level of his recordings.
SudsRegal agree 100 percent. I have seen Yes at least 10 times. They changed prog rock starting really in 1969 but drastically with Close to the Edge in I think 1972. I get the same pushing the envelope now with Plini and others. The others are very good but Plini like Yes incorporates memorable melodies along with the interesting complexity. Thanks for your thoughts. I think prog rock is in great hands. Cheers.
My dear friend introduced me to Plini via this song. I have lost my grandmother (who raised me) this year, been evicted, lost my job due to Covid-19, lived on the streets thereafter....and Plini has saved my life. I mean this. The friend who introduced me to this was just given 2 weeks to live today. He loves this song... I love this song. Thank you all so much for your hard work. You have saved at least two of us out here. I am forever grateful for the gifts this song has given me. I don't know if you will ever understand how important this music is to me. Thank you so much for bringing light into my heart again.
May I ask you a question. Let me preface it with my heart felt sincere sorrow for your lose. I have been through some similar experiences in my life, multiple times actually. How did the music save you? Thank you so much, Christopher from Colorado Springs CO.
Every element of this song is just right. The ambient intro gives that euphoric feeling, the transition to distortion and heavy drums is electrifying, and the riffs/patterns are technical and intricate but not to the point of being virtuoso exercises. Plini's music has never disappointed me and I doubt it ever will.
I played this song on a loop when I found out I was having a daughter. There's not a time I hear it that I don't think of finding that out. The song means so much to me.
What a great way to give personal meaning to a song. I’ve never thought to do that with any of my kids. I did wake my son up for his first day of fourth grade this morning with this song, by his own choice even. He was pumped up and ready to go.
Plini is the sort of musician I recommend people listen to when they say that metal is just noise. People seem to have this idea that all metal sounds like Cannibal Corpse, or perhaps Iron Maiden (both very different bands). I try and point out that metal is an extremely diverse genre and they often just aren't interested. I can't see how you can really dislike a piece like Electric Sunrise. It's beautiful and euphoric. The djenty rhythms gradually resolve to sweeping melodies, all played by a true virtuoso.
@@DaddyShegz these arent completely similar, but I listen to Plini as well as these bands: Animals as Leaders Polyphia Chon Jason Richardson Intervals (the guitarist of Intervals is the guy playing rhythm in this video) Dream Theater (has vocals on most of their songs tho, but has some good instrumentals. Tears. Every time. Reminds me of something in my past. Love driving to this song during the winter early morning up here in the forests of northern Michigan. Fuck yeah.
I absolutely love this piece. One of those rare works of art that inspires and motivates me like nothing else. breathtaking in places, invigorating in others. makes me want to run flat out but completely glues me in place. Usually highly technical pieces make me feel inadequate as a musician, but this is does the exact opposite.
Just saw this show in DC last night. Aaron Marshall had one of the best live tones I've ever heard and you killed it Plinster. I've been watching your vids since the beginning and it's awesome to see you go from youtube uploads to world tour.

I always turned my head away for metal kind of music. It seemed stupid, low iq noise, nerve breaking and chaotic to me. But as I ‘m always curious and out of the box thinking, after 30 years (I’m 52 now) I started to give it a second chance and first thing I noticed is the often very bright, intelligent and skilled musicians thar write and perform it. When I told my cousin (dye hard rock and metal fan and guitar player) that I was getting curious about “progressive metal” and if he had some tips of performers to explore, he laughed and gave me a list of his choice.
