Love this Edith. I was researching a midi USB host as I want to buy a cheaper midi keyboard product with old school 5 pin din. I'd love to hear more of the Omni chord with ur op1!
I used the cheap midi adapter to send midi sequences in ableton to my old Roland synth so from usb direct to the midi input of my Roland synth and it was able to trigger midi notes but the problem was that it was skipping midi notes so very ineffective because skipping notes is plain unacceptable, my beatstep pro works fine for sending midi information but I was looking for a cheap alternative, might have to get a Kenton then
bless you the op-1 looks like a very good pairing with the qchord, its nice that the diff areas go on different midi channels - i was thinking it would be a very good controller for a violin or cello type software instrument because you could send the strum bar to bowing and then choose the note with the melody buttons, i dont know of any that operate in this manner though so it would probably take some script processing in max or something..
Thank you for this! I tried this today with my OP-1 and Omnichord, but couldn’t get it to work. Can you break down the settings in the OP-1? I’ve read the Omnichord is fixed to midi channel 1, and I’ve got the OP-1 set to chan 1, but still not working for me.
Well it’s been awhile since I tried it, but I don’t remember needing to do anything at all on the OP-1, I think it just meekly accepted the MIDI input & let me play it! There are a bunch of videos on here about OP-1 and MIDI, I would try to find out how it works using other instruments. And/or try it yourself with another MIDI controller like a keyboard or something?
Thanks Anie! It’s weird for me, I’m not used to *anything* I’m doing with the video stuff. But I think I’m getting the hang of it. I hope it gets easier!
Very nice, I'm trying to do the same. I messaged you on Twitter because I can't figure it out, I need to get situated very soon and Although I'm not sure you'll see this, any help would be appreciated
It’s gonna be almost impossible to help without being there to play with it… I think first thing I would do is to make sure your Omnichord’s midi works. To take it out of the chain, isolate that one functionality & try using it to control something else like a computer or another synth. OMG I’m TERRIBLE at this, I am the worst how-to video creator ever
What Edith is saying is, if you are having issues with MIDI using this box, the best way to figure out what is wrong is to isolate components. Try using another synth with MIDI as a master through the Kenton box to control the synth you want the sounds from. Try connecting the Omnichord directly to another synth with MIDI and see if that works. Try using a MIDI to USB interface to have the Omnichord communicate with a DAW on your computer. If the Omnichord can transmit and receive when hooked up to another synth or your computer, the box is the weak point. If it cannot, then you know the problem lies with your Omnichord.
One of most creative persons whom I have never met, but hope to do so. You are a wonder and a treasure.
Great video thanks for making it

Nikolas Sanow See, that’s not mansplaining, it’s edithsplaining
I prefer to think of it as Edith Expounding!
Great 👌 video and super cute French bulldog(?) but you forgot to mention how to set this up on the op-1
Google MIDI + OP-1 and you'll find a wealth of information concerning this.
:)
Geez, get to the point!
