"My friend, you have a skill."
I can be more specific. I can trust you. You smile, you empathize, you are humble, and honest. Not just honest. You're _genuine._ I feel comfort knowing _you're_ the one giving me the news and not some corporate-run newscaster/article, and not some reactionary on the internet.
Genuine people, by nature, don't tend to understand their own worth. "I'm just doing my natural thing. How is that worth anything?" But that's just it. You don't have to do more to be worth anything. You are already there. As a favorite cartoon of mine once said, "Don't question it. You _are_ the answer." It's okay not to understand.

Your being nice and real with him, but he can’t get over the fact that you seem to have it all. The truth is nobody has it all, everybody has difficulties, weaknesses and stuff holding them up at night. Some just are mature enough to not act it out and be grateful for what they have.

One time, I called my boyfriend panicking after falling down a conspiracy theory rabbit hole. Instead of calling me stupid, he talked through the theory line by line with me and showed me how the person twisted the truth. To Dr. Mike's point, I think it is infinitely more helpful to remain calm and look at the intent when explaining things to someone instead of dismissing them completely.

There were so many times where one person was talking (whether it was Phil or Dr. Mike), and what I really wanted to see was the facial reaction of the other person. I went back through some of the other ACW vids and noticed that this seems pretty consistent. But something about this episode made me want to see how the listener was reacting to what was being said. Phil is such an amazing person, he doesn't know the amount of people he's touched. For me personally, he's been like a sort of father figure, someone who i respect, who i look up to, who i have gained my moral values from. He has impacted my life in a wayyy bigger way than my biological family even though they're loving and are still around its just that they aren't as good, they're racist, stubborn, don't value the truth. Anyway, to phil i'd just like to say that I've been watching you since i was 14-15 years old (im now 21) and throughout the stories you have covered your encouragement of critical thinking and always presenting the facts first and opinions later have made me such a good person bcz i now know not to trust anyone with anything they say and to always research it before passing it on myself, that value among with many others is how you have made me happy and proud to be a viewer of your show

We need more Phil’s in news outlets (IMO). I’m 35 and have been watching him for long enough to know what he’s talking about when he says it was embarrassing, like 12years. I’d like to think we’ve both grown as people during that time and I owe a lot to him for that. He’s doing good even if he doesn’t realize it. It's not the news you report that makes us happy, it's how you report it. Your comments, your personality the way you go about it. The amusement of watching your hands flail about as you talk... You don't freak us out or make it all out as doom and gloom. You tell it to us straight and maybe give an opinion and ask for ours and try and see it from the point of view as others if you can.... When you watch normal news it's all one sided, and end of the world and no hope... You look for the good people, and comment about ways to help during the bad points.... You have a gift at talking about all the crap without making it seem like it's nothing but crap and that life has no worth... Plus you help me keep track of what day it is. lol

Doesn't matter the story or the day or even whose talking. I saw a commentary channel who was talking about Tobuscus mention why some gamers succeed applies to Phil. The content is similar but the personality is what keeps people coming back. Its why we stay subscribed and follow to the Rogue Rocket and ACW channels.

Phil, You will probably never see this but I want to throw it into the endless ether of the internet. What you do, and what I'll eventually be devastated to lose when you decide to end your daily shows, is the most normal and down-to-earth update to what is going on in our world. You bring people, including me, happiness by being just as overwhelmed and just as human as the rest of us feel. There are people in similar positions that wouldn't be willing to admit how messed up they are. It seems like those people are even further out of reach. What I look forward to every day, is listening to you talk about depressing, overwhelming, absurd news stories that make me feel depressed, overwhelmed, and angry. I want to hear you talk about those things because you don't have an agenda. You aren't trying to make anyone feel a certain way, you're just as overwhelmed as we are and in the most messed up way, it is so relieving to know that we aren't alone in this. So please continue to do what you do, until you feel like you need to stop. I know I'll be watching until the end.

(I have bipolar/ manic depressive disorder) it was weird cuz I related to both of your sides. Once again a great video. I love your collabs with mike. You have such genuinely interesting And natural conversations. 👌🏻

I watch every vid and have for months, it's how I learn the news in a fun way not just the continuous politics on mainstream news. Dr. Mike, sending you all the love, but it seems you're in the process of learning a lesson that I had to be nearly beaten to death with before I got it. You can't talk someone into loving themself. It's miserable but you will hurt yourself more by trying to talk to them about it because they will keep talking about the person you see, who is so lovable and amazing as if they are trash. And no matter how hard you try, you can't change their mind. You just have to keep loving that person and make it clear how precious they are *to you*. That's the best thing you can do for yourself and them.
My BF had Phil's same self-image when we started our relationship, but after a year and a half, he has learned to value himself, even if he doesn't love himself. Even that is a huge win. I didn't realize how big that victory was until I heard Phil talk about himself and was reminded of how bad off my boyfriend was when we first got together. Time, love, and support make all the difference.

I get the feeling of having difficulty identifying and acknowledging your self-worth and what joy you bring to people, I struggle with that, too.... so Phillip DeFranco I feel like you need to hear it from people, if for no other reason than to let slowly adjust to the idea that you have a positive effect on others.
You bring me happiness, as a viewer in the follow ways: by putting into words those thoughts I think a lot of us have. You make me laugh, and you make me think. You try to find a balance in the information you give, while also not feeling forced. There, you now have more specific reasons. I’m sure it may not much coming from one viewer, but I hope others chime in with their view points. (I have not read any other comments, yet.)

“Chance favors the prepared mind “I believe is the quoteyou were referring to at about 42 minutes in. On a related note to the question, Philip DeFranco you deliver a version of the news that is generally very centric and balanced often times looking at both sides and do so in a way that leaves me feeling more informed and positive regardless of how horrible the subject may be. I started watching you nearly 12 years ago after my son had been watching you shortly after you joined UA-cam, perhaps a few weeks even. Please keep in mind this is coming from a 50-year-old tradesmen who has seen and experienced a tremendous amount. You don’t remotely give yourself you even close to a scintilla of an enough credit for what you do. That being said staying humble is key along with your inherent natural communicative skills. This is the very first time ever commented on anything on UA-cam. Keep up the good work and I truly enjoy PDS but some of these conversations are treating to say the least.

Phil, I’ve been following you since I was 19 years old. I’ll be 28 this year. Your camera presence, your delivery of the news, and many of your view points are what make your news show and podcast easy to watch and the information retainable. Furthermore, I know I don’t know you personally but I’d like to think that a gentlemen that I’ve watched for over 9 years (no matter how goofy some content might have been) all the way back to SourceFed days is an all around good guy. You are inspiring and you are my favorite news source to consume. I have recently loved your podcasts as well. Please keep doing the podcasts for a long long time. You are by far, in my opinion, the best podcast host on this platform. I love other podcasts too but yours is the most soothing to listen to because you actually do have a real conversation with people that isn’t full of crap or interrupting everyone. You’re humble when you speak and you’re also a good listener with your guests. You do such a good job at that and I’ve seen every podcast episode. I know I’m a stranger but from what I can tell, you and your family are wonderful people no matter what ya’ll have been through. Thank you for what you do. Dr. Mike is right, Philly D. I know exactly what you mean by not really feeling anything about being the inspiration and positivity in other people's lives, but you are. And, if we're fair, your denial of it only makes you all the more endearing. Not being able to value yourself is something a lot of people don't understand, but that doesn't mean you aren't. Taking comments compliments is really, really hard. But maybe think of it this way: you can't control what other people feel about you. Usually that's associated with the bad, but it also means you can't stop people from thinking good about you either.

Dear Mr. D - My incredible assistant, in his mid -20sand his awesome ( these adjectives are in used as descriptions are in reference to their character, creativity and compassionate interest in the World) turned me on to you and your channels ( I shut off all news 7 yrs ago) due to life-changing critical illness. Due to these two young minds and souls supportive of my life’s work ie knowing what I am committed to with my time: watch you everyday. For your character, passion, discernment, endurance AND vulnerabilities. Watching you for 3 months and today with Dr. Mike - it’s as clear as clear can Be. You, have NO idea who and how many people your touching with tremendous positivity. You accomplish one of the offer most difficult greatest intentions a human can aim to represent the crazy, whacky, intriguing, horrific, insane, still extraordinarily beautiful, kind, solution orientated - with astounding balance and Authentic Curiosity. Two distinct and almost impossible qualities - that guarantee humanity becoming a better species!
I began my business at 21 and 32 years later am still rockin! Single mom at 17, dropped out in 10 grade to have my son with severe learning disabilities. Graduated from a specialized masters program at UCLA in my 40s to begin an additional avenue of expanding my ability to serve humanity’s healing of our world. 14 of those years were working from bed waiting to die from a rare genetic disease. Well, dude I am still here, and I’m crazy about you and your family and your intentions. The genuine, and utter BURNOUT your passing through is an immense demonstration of the profundity of your depth of caring- though it FEELS to be the opposite.
I just turned 60, and have survived Heaven and the pure Hell life has to offer.
I am nobody. A complete stranger. I’ve probably broken every texting rule that exists due to the length of this writing. You’ll 90% never see this comment - yet still, I Need to tell You, I’ve got your back. And - if I, a no one, a way cool old lady just revving up for the next round, I am feels and cares so strongly about you and your footprint on our culture feels this way -- millions!!! Do. When the very real exhaustion has you by the throat - if you choose, lean into the emptiness and pull from all the energy of LOVE out here -- For amazing You!

You bring happiness because you strive for clarity and sincerity and throw in a positive whenever you can. Getting a clear picture of what is going on in situations is SO difficult when watching regular news - it's all repititous and so intentionally vague... The fact that you CARE enough to continue to be the person working to give clarity, and that you do it as you - and you have a personality that is so understandable and naturally likeable. And you inspire other people to be the same!! THIS is how and why you bring joy and why we value you so much!
That said, I fully understand what you are saying about your personal feeling and I KNOW many people that feel or have felt that way. You are not alone in those feelings.

    Phil,
I've been watching your show for over 6 years. I know you go through your downs, often behind the scenes. I appreciate your honesty with yourself and your community, and ability to pursue being REAL.
THAT BEING SAID.. yes, you've helped me through hard times, something you may have a generic response to. So let me tell you about my past ten days.
Note: The past 8 years I've become chronically ill. I'm homeless. Which, let me tell you is difficult when you've had a traumatic life. To be brief, 10 days ago I had a VERY traumatizing and RE-TRAUMATIZING experience at a shelter. I'm safe now, at a friends. BUT that doesn't stop me from now being in a constant state of adrenaline. I cant shut it off. I've lost weight (clinically too much) and my friends can't support me. And, though they try to help, I'm sick of their irrational optimism.
YOU KNOW WHO I CAN *ALWAYS* COUNT ON TO BE AS REAL AS POSSIBLE.. Despite being on camera and faking it/defaulting AT TIMES, but always comes around? ? Philp mother f*ing Defranco.
You offer reality. You silver line without trying to net positive a net negative topic. And I can assuredly watch your show.. maybe surprisingly to you.. WITHOUT BEING TRIGGERED. Because I do much better with reality and facts (my degree is in Molecular and Cellular Biology btw; rational is preferred). SO.. it may not make sense to you WHY you have an impact on people. I wanted to SHARE my truth with you.. I hope that makes it feel more real. Everyone has a different reason. This is mine. You draw me out of my trauma into something equally as real and equally important. Thank you.
Important note: Thank you to the team who tolerates Phil's way of doing.. is it really that bad? ALSO, Lindsay Defranco! You're amazing. You don't get enough credit for being a PILLAR OF SUPPORT for someone we all enjoy. And the keeper of the family that brings someone we love JOY.
    ***
    Dr Mike!
Sorry you're separate, I had to get that off my chest. THANK YOU FOR YOUR *ESSENTIAL* ROLE IN ADDRESSING MISINFORMATION. Too many people are okay with good enough. I'm sorry that I don't watch enough of your channel.
IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, please.. make a video on the missing bridge between policy/ law, and FACTS,/SCIENCE.. quality scientists being essential in law and policy making. This is something I wanted to get into before I was forced to accept my illness. More people need to know the basics. I BELIEVE you'd be perfect to address this topic and raise awareness. One example is the BRCA gene being patented, despite being a naturally occurring mutation. I'm sure you have a LIST of your own issues with policy. I know we're in the middle of a pandemic, but if you save my note for a more practical date, I'd be ecstatic.
Love to you both, and the people who support you.. allowing you to be who you are for the rest of us. You're BOTH AWESOME, whether you believe it or not.
    💖
