Dear Bo: I’m super-impressed, with your, amazing, breeding success! This is a delicate species and you have managed to come up with healthy stock, which look right happy. super-jealous of you All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
Hi Brinegar, Thank you so much for your kind words and support! Don't be jealous, my friend! With passion and persistence, you can achieve great results too.
Hey KP, great to see you again! If you can get some ember tetra eggs, increasing their quantity shouldn't be too hard. Simply add more parent fish to a breeding tank and make sure you have some egg protection media, like the one I use. I agree, ember tetras are quite easy to spawn. Let me know if you need any more advice or have any questions!
hi Bo: how much survival rate do you have for the cardinal? My best yield so far is 22%, which means of 100viable eggs, I could expect to have 22 fish survive to one month old. They sure are really vulnerable fish to breed.
Hi Jay, I believe this batch might be my most successful yield so far. I started with a little over 100 eggs, which you can see in one of my short videos. Although I haven't counted the exact number of fry, there should be at least 50 of them. Thank you for your comment!
As far as I know, my survival rate for cardinal tetras has always been pretty good. The only issue with cardinal tetras is that they don't lay a large number of eggs. Most of the time, with three pairs of parent fish, they can only produce dozens or fewer eggs. As for neon tetras, I can obtain hundreds, even close to a thousand, fertile eggs from three pairs of parent fish. However, the majority of them would always end up being deformed, and only a handful of them would grow up healthy.
Mine do so, too. Cardinal tetras are not as prolific as neon tetra. Compare your parameters shown in the video, I guess my problem is that the incubation temperature was a bit low. I used 25C. I will try higher next time. Thank you for sharing your experience!

I like it! Keep going !on
Thanks, Hans! You are doing a great job breeding all those pencilfish.
How do you constantly get a high yield? I’ve been trying forever with my ember tetras and nothing works 😢
honestly ember is so easy. as well as to raise the fry of it.

what is the key for the best yield this time? fungal control? water volume to eggs ratio? incubation temperature? or the first food? any suggestion?
