    Dear Bo:
    Hemigrammus erythrozonus is an unassuming species I have often considered keeping. The orange goes very well with green foliage. It is very exciting, to see you have terrific success breeding this, lovely species.
    Keep it up.
    All my best,
    Sincerely,
    E. J. Brinegar

    Hey Bo, you say the only stand out feature is there red light streak but it’s actually orange deep orange it’s not red. And if you look on their top dorsal thin, they have a red spot there. It’s kind of reddish at the base where it touches the body That’s glow light tetra. How do you say?

      Hi Dennis,
      Thank you for your keen observation! You're absolutely right. I mentioned 'Red' because I directly translated the name from Chinese. I appreciate you pointing out the specific details. It's always great to have enthusiasts like you sharing insights.

    Check to see if your PH is suitable for breeding, also be wary of non RO water and the bugs in them. Try 1 male to more female ratios to see if that helps too! And, keep trying if it fails. Sometimes the first batch of eggs are not as viable. Add a source for tannins as well (peat moss, some leaves, etc) Also, comment for your older videos. First generation neon tetras are not the hardiest, and if the breeding stock has poor genes, then you may have more deformity issues. Usually this becomes less of a problem once you get a few generations bred (using different sources to prevent inbreeding). Also, grow infusoria (build a kit) to help feed the fry for first few days, and then move to baby brine shrimp (also build a kit for this!)... Good luck :)

      Thanks for the advice! Actually, the good news is I had a fairly good result with glow light tetras. They are now growing up healthy, and I had a very small fatality and deformity rate. I am still working on breeding neon tetras. I hope to try that again after the hot summer.

    Thank you for doing this video!!! Did you feed the fish while they are in the jar?

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  Рік тому

      Hi, while they are in the jar, I don't feed them. they are only in the jar for less than a day. We place the jar in a quiet and undisturbed location so that the fish feel safe and are more likely to spawn. Thanks for your following up!

    How do you know when the females are going to have the eggs? I have a really big (wide girl) and put here in a jar with the males and nothing happened!

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  9 місяців тому

      Hi Dennis, the females (fish) will have eggs as long as they have a round and plump body. How big is the jar? You should only put one male and one female in a jar, and you can set up multiple jars to increase the success rate. Thanks for your comment.

      I used a about a 1.5 Quart or 48 Liquid Oz's container. I will try the mason jar method next and only put 1 make in there with her. Thank You for your reply. @@bothetetrabreeder8734

      @@dennisbolte2896 Hi Dennis, the jar I'm using has a capacity of about 2 liters, which is approximately 67 OZs, slightly larger than yours. I'm not sure if the size is causing any issues, but you could try using a slightly larger jar for just one pair. Wishing you good luck with your breeding efforts!

    Hi Bo how are you?Should the water in which we separate the eggs be rested?Why don't you use the main tank water? Should we use a pipe filter until the fish grow in this separate tank?
    Thanks greetings from Turkiye .😍🇹🇷

      @bothetetrabreeder8734  11 місяців тому +1

      Hello dear, sorry for the delayed response. The reason I used new water is simply a method to trigger spawning. We don't require a pipe filter for this; new water alone is sufficient. Glowlight tetras aren't particularly challenging to breed; all you really need is fresh water, lowTDS,and the pH doesn't have to be acidic

    How long does it take to conditioned females for breeding? Do you think it is better to separate both sexes prior to breeding? I tried breeding mine, I placed a male and female in 3 gallon tank, they chased each other constantly but they did drop any eggs after 24 hours. I then removed them and decided to give them a break from breeding. A few days later my female passed away. Now I am back to square one again!

      @bothetetrabreeder8734  Рік тому

      Hi sorry for the delayed response. Yes, it's necessary to separate females and males. With daily feeding of a good amount of live food, it should take only 1-2 weeks for them to become ready for breeding.
      I believe a 3-gallon tank is a bit too large. You can place them in small jars like I demonstrated in the video. I recommend using at least 3 or more jars to increase the success rate.

      I finally got a pair to breed right before my eyes! I purchased a few more females tetras, I placed them in the tank and forgot to place the top back on the tank. Two of them decided to jump out! Just so happen I had two more smaller females left. I conditioned them for weeks while separating the males. I wanted to make sure that the females were very plump and full of eggs. I placed my biggest male with my biggest female in my 3 gallon tank that was half full with a spawning mop and a heater set to 26-27 degrees, then covered it up for atleast 24 hours prior to looking. I used my tap water. The PH level is about 6.5ish. When I took a peek at them the male began to chase the female. All of the breeding was near the heater.
      I left them alone for approximately 5-6 hours and then removed them. By that time, my female was much smaller and they didn't seem very active. The bottom of my aquarium is full of eggs (I do admit, I find the eggs are very small, very hard to see in the best conditions without shinning a bright light on it) It has been almost 24 hours now since I removed the parents. I will have a look tomorrow to see if any are moving around!@@bothetetrabreeder8734
