Hi Bo, Greetings from Costa Rica. In the next months I want and will attempt to breed Cardinal tetra, I wanted to know if there is a reason why you prefer not using peat moss as a substrate to hide the eggs from parents, also how do you prevent fish fry dying from getting to close to a heater?
Hi my friend. It's a bit expensive for me to buy peat moss, and I feel like breeding cardinal tetras doesn't necessarily require lowering the pH. As you can see in my tetra breeding videos, I use an egg-separating box to prevent the eggs from being eaten. And for the fry, for the first week or so, I put them in a small container inside the tank so they won't get too close to the heater. Wish you good luck with your breeding project. Thanks for your comment.
Yes, we don't need a filter in the breeding tank. The water is still. The eggs normally just sink to the bottom and will not stick to the fiber. The fibers do, somewhat, induce the fish to spawn. Thanks for your comment.
Hi, you don't need to do either of these things. Tetras prefer to spawn in a very quiet environment and if you add an oxygen stone, it will greatly disturb them. We don't need to feed them anything for those four days. The fish will be fine even if we don't feed them for a week. Feeding them will not only pollute the water, but also disturb them. Thanks for your comment!
Hi there is this feed called larviva mysis 75micron size more like powder it looks like... can i feed that as first food for zebra danio fry..... i have asked you this question before ans you asked me to try egg yolk solution but only 6 frys i have out of 100s 😢 ... so i bought this food ... can you pls guide me ???
Hi, I haven't heard of or used this Larviva Mysis before, so I can't give you my opinion on it. I'm sorry for your loss. When you feed egg yolk, you should be very careful not to pollute the water. Try to use a ramshorn snail to dispose of the waste. Also, egg yolk is only suitable for the first few days. As soon as they are able to eat BBS (baby brine shrimp), switch to that immediately. I haven't bred zebra danio, but for most of the tetras I have bred, they can eat baby brine shrimp once they can free swim. You can check out my neon tetra breeding videos and you will see how I did it. Thanks for following up.

Do they require still water to breed. I mean water without movement and where do they lay eggs. Is it on the fiber that you put. Thanks. Subscribed.

Should v put oxygen stone in the breeding tank for those 4 days? And should v feed the fishes?

You can use filter water from a sponge filter. It has many microbes that baby zebra danio fry can eat until they grow big enough to eat bigger foods

Anti chlorine can be used
Thanks!
