- Do Minecraft Texture Packs Actually Boost FPS on Low End PC? Today I find out for myself using my Low End Laptop

Today we're going to finding out if texture packs actually boost our FPS on a Low End PC! I'm going to be trying 16x, 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x and 512x packs and see if it makes a difference to our FPS on my Low End Laptop from 2009. Lots of you enjoyed my last video called: 'How I got the Highest FPS in Minecraft on a Low End Laptop' so this time I decided to go back to my roots and try a texture pack video!
I've seen videos from Intel Edits 'Do Texture Packs REALLY Affect FPS?' and 'Do Texture Packs Actually Boost FPS?' So today I will try it for myself on a Low End PC - will it even be able to run a high res texture pack? Will I be able to do it, watch to find out!
The Specs:
Intel Core i3 330M
8GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics
I'm going to be showing you how to improve your FPS in Minecraft, Fix lag and show you the BEST Minecraft settings to get more FPS in Minecraft. Which is the best for Low end PCs and Low End devices! I think I may have figured it out. It's transparent blocks. The higher resolution - the more pixels to calculate transparency on a block. Yes, even if you have your graphics set to fast, the black pixels are still resolving as transparent. What pvp packs probably do is removing all the transparent pixels reducing the work that shader does.

Maybe if there's some VRAM or bandwith constraint, lower quality packs could give better performance. However most of the time, it just uses more VRAM without any big differences.
Yeah very strange results, I might do a video on how RAM affects FPS on Low End PC too
(note: I was writing this before Notro was actually bumping up the settings) Alright. As someone who used to play on a 2013 macbook pro and a really bad dell laptop while being a texturepack nerd I found out few things. Most fps you can get is by having good settings on your clinet and optifine. Textures aren't really things that affect fps (if you have again good graphics settings suited for your computer). What is destroying fps are sky overlays and there are multiple factors about sky overlays that affect fps such as resolution (texturepacks sometimes have ridiculous resolutions that you can not notice) or the amount of ,,layers'' the sky has (for example Spirit 32x by emmalynnpacks) that will make these high resolution textures overlay (therefore showing more of them). And the last thing that will affect your fps is if you switch your packs a lot and you have a minecraft on a slow storage component.
Sorry for a long comment but I hope I cleared the problematic a little.

Texture packs depends on the Blocks, I've used tons of texture pack and I've noticed that the texture packs which has higher res blocks it lags so much.
And surprisingly for my mobile 32 packs also gets higher FPS than the default texture pack

Hello NotroDan, love your videos! I've been wondering for a while if you could you test out KernelOS10 22H2 for me, I would love to see how it performance and if I should download it.
You made a client, you should know that its only image loading and the rendering is just drawing quads (no change) so the only thing changing is the used ram/ texture sent to the cpu

Hi I saw your old video about ggOS on a low end pc and when you tested it in minecraft so how did you record? which software did you use because there wasn't any recorder on please tell me because I have a intel i3-3220 8gb ram integrated graphics and I get about 90 to 120 fps but when I record using Ocam with medium settingsm it drops to 50 55 fps please REPLY cuz I wanna record videos like you too I just installed atlas os really didnt see a fps boost but low processes

hey notro, i really like your minecraft java optimization videos! id like to see you trying optimizations on the mc bedrock version because my laptop really sucks and java doesnt even run. so i play mc bedrock it kind of lags. i want to play atleast mc bedrock smoothly. so i would really appreciate if you do it. thanks!
Yeah I've found that bedrock works well on this PC, I might try and optimise it but it's a little bit harder to work on than java

Conclusion: On bedrock low res packs CANNOT increase fps, since they get upscaled back to 16x
However, on java low res packs will work to increase fps, due to lower file sizes.
But take this information about java with a pinch of salt, this is just what sounds most plausible to me
I think it does, and it depends on its res
Higher textures may increase the fps, because the gpu or the cpu is being used more intensely than that 16x, If not I do not have a single clue.

I Think the pixels on ur lowend laptop are good because for me the sword has some pixels that just dont register and they turn out traansparent or white.. (256x). and high resolution packs are laggy for me..

i think when you use intense packs the cpu switchs to the gpu so you get better performance
Can you try a laptop with intel 7200u cpu? And no gpu . And normal windows 10

Well it is not entirely depended on its resolution i get more fps on 32x and 64x some times on my 2 gb ram pc

did anybody noticed at 5:26 the fps actually got 88FPS!
Well on my intel i5-6500 8gb ddr4 ram my fps was 400-600 on 64, and 90 with a 512x how explain dbkdsjsbsjskal
to think about it, my Laptop (celeron CPU😂) with GPU Intel 600 can run Minecraft java edition in 125 FPS is wonderful😂(I think I have 25 mod and a lot settings to make it...

512 and stil everything on your screen is full of pixels, flowers, trees, gras 99% aint 512. so no point in this testing your doing. its flawed. and give higher packs more ram and they wil load.
