  • Replacing the suction control valve (SCV) on my 2007 Nissan Navara (YD25DDTi) and reseting the engine control unit (ECU)
    Possible faulty SCV symptoms:
    1. Intermittent injector rattle usually at around 2000 rpm
    2. Stalling on idle
    3. Jerking / loss of power
    4. DPF light coming on
    5. Cruise control failing to maintain constant speed
    Notes:
    - Replacement can be done from above thru the engine bay but you'll mostly be doing it blind. It's recommended to move the oil dipstick out of the way when done this way.
    - The electrical connector can be tight and hard to grip. Do NOT pull from the wires, that's literally illegal.
    - Do NOT let dirt get into the fuel pump.
    - Make sure the new SCV seats properly. Do not force it or you'll pinch the o-ring. It sits snug but not tight.
    ECU reset:
    - Ignition on, wait 3 seconds
    - Pump accelerator 5 times, wait 7 seconds
    - Hold accelerator for 10 seconds
    - Check engine light should start flashing, wait about a minute
    - Turn the ignition off
    - Start the engine
(The "beep" heard on the video during the reset is not related to the procedure, it's coming from my dashcam)

Well done.. That is a brilliant video!
Absolutely shows everything you need to know to change scv....(on a navara).
    Thank you!

Thanks! I had done this once before and back then I didn't have a video to rely on, so this time around, I just decided to make the video I needed back then. Figured there might be few other Navara owners out there trying to figure out the same thing too.

Hey mate, great video. Quick question, were you seeing a small amount of fuel leaking at the fuel pump before changing the scv?

No I didn't have any leaks. I changed it due to other issues. Some will obviously leak out while replacing it.

this was painful to watch, not looking forward to doing this at all nor am i willing to pay a mechanic to remove 2 bolts. So i'm prepared for the struggle with a 6 pack of beer.

It's not so bad really. I've done it twice. It can be done from above as well but there's a reason I chose to go in via the wheel well the second time. Atleast now I could see what I'm doing.
I'd say the most crucial part is making sure the o-ring stays in place while placing the new valve and that you don't pinch it. If not sure, then try again. The rest is just trying to find the right gap to approach the bolts from and trying not to drop them.
