My 2 cents If you have a old hood or door and are willing to purchase a good *buffer ( *$230 -$500 ) sand paper, pads, chemicals etc.practice removing a variety of self inflicted scratches. If don't have the proper tools and have never buffed and or color sanded a vehicles paint, I don't recommend practicing on a newer paint job or one your bank still owns. In that case its best to pay a professional to color sand and buff the vehicles paint. Shop around and talk to people who have had their vehicle detailed. Good luck
So this is what used car dealers do! Several people I know who bought used cars said their car was nice and shiny for the first week or so and then after a car wash, all these scratches magically appeared
I'm confused why people are leaving comments about 'don't do it', 'it'll ruin your paint', etc. The point of the video is to say it IS bullshit and doesn't work. Didn't you watch the whole thing? He's debunking the myth, HELLOOO!
Car dealership do this before you arrive to see your car . I purchased a Peugeot 508 dark blue Metallic .looked amazing. Drove my 250miles home cleaned the car stratches all over bonnet roof etc.
I mean yeah it doesn’t fix scratches but it does a great job of covering them up. It’s not dangerous and it’s cheap. Obviously if you have lots of money get it done by a pro. But if you’ve swapped paint with a badly parked car this is really good !
I can tell by most of these comments that most people did not watch the video all the way through where he clearly states and shows that this does not fix scratches and just covers it up until it rains or car is washed.
Great Videos...I have my work cut out for me on my C4 Corvette. A small piece of sandpaper somehow got stuck to the microfiber towel I was using to buff out Mother's Spray and wax. I put scratches all over the car. A pro shop in town, "Classic Coach", advised me that the clear coat on a 1985 Corvette is very thin. I have the wool pad, Mother's #10 cutting and a good buffer, I'm just afraid of trying it. Hope the WD-40 works instead...
It works, I scratched my new Kia, by hitting Agaist side of garage which created black spot on side of the car. I used W40 after seeing the video and it took black spot off and made it as new.
Thank you for sharing this video, i asked to my husband if we have wd-40 and he was like, yes! What are you going to do with it? And i was like, because i got scratches to my car and i want to fix it.
yes temporary but when the wd 40 wears off the scratches will show you need to buy a good buffer pad with light white compound polish and a sealer wax after for permanent scratch removal
I did this on a completely faded Hyundai Excel 1998 model for roadworthy certification. The Roadworthy certifier said: Mann that is a clean looking Hyundai especially for Australia, the sun kills our paint jobs!
Great video. All this does is mask scratches. Scratches must by mechanically removed via (In extreme cases wet sanding) cutting compound, and several buffing compounds. This is also what to do with you yellow/foggy headlights
It's cool how this is the same door and same color as my SUV with scratches on it. I wouldn't be surprised if these used car dealers do this temporary hack to sell cars.
@@chrisilever8586 deal with cars everyday with scratches. Depends on how deep the scratch is. WD40 is not good for paint. It's a degreaser will eventually damage the clear coat.
my car was fully scratched up i sprayed an entire wd-40 up on that shit and took my car out then it rained my scratches came back everyone laughed i cried wd-40 died
wd-40 breakes down the paint so it runs, lightly buff it in scratch then clean all the wd-40 off you dont scrub it hard you take off the paint that was in the scratch's back out and spray a clear coat, itll last quite a while but also its meant for smaller with that size you did it dont get enough paint transfer, iv used on head lights too but you do have to do scrub hard to make sure all the wd-40 is gone or it will ruin the covers the put clear coat on and that last quite a while too
Wow thankyou. Someone had scratched my car up pretty bad. The boot and side panels. I tried a t cut that didnt do a thing. Watched your vidio and i now have a lovely scratch free car again. 😚👍
Alizee Defan And how did you come to that amazing conclusion? Well, if you actually watch the video, that's whole point of the it. It's temporary. It doesn't work. Try actually paying attention next time.
I have a 99 Pontiac firebird trans am ls1. My dilemma is that I installed new air-conditioning compressor when I was done with I started the car and the rpms shot up to 5000rpms so I replaced all the sensors but two my oxygen sensors. I also have to shut it down because it would over heat and I didn't want anything to happen to the engine. So what do you think it could be. Thank you
Fair enough, but I wouldn't advise doing this. If it works in hiding the scratches it will for sure soften the paint finish and it will eventually blister or peal away.
Just use Maguires Gold Class Wax or Mothers you can also use a bit of toothpaste and buff it out rinse then Wax if that don't work scratches are too deep and you'll need to wet sand them and re apply some clear paint.
+nulle1968 hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to learn about best way to spray paint a car try Corbandy Car Sprayer Crusher ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my colleague got amazing success with it.
I had birds sh... on my car’s hood I cleaned it by green side of the sponge and then I had scratches some places on the hood ,and I used wd- 40 , but it didn’t work . 🙁
WD-40 will cover-up the scratches indeed. BUT it won't last that long so the scratch will reappear. A car wax will work better, will last up to 9 months.
Just to say thanks where thanks is due. I'm starting from 'scratch' when it comes to taking care of my car so every bit of help is appreciated. Mike

Very honest and helpful, is only a temporary repair, best doing it properly for a long term effect.
Nice simple explanation and straight to the point.

I’ve done this with WD40. Looks great at first but when it dries, the scratches re appear……
worked like a dream for my ford focus! reduced the scratch by 95%

They do this smh

what would have happened if you had waxed over with a good oil based wax the Wd 40 after it was applied?
Nice video.... now What Would be the very best Product to get rid off Scratches and swirls?
Use baby oil , doesn't damage your paint. Rub it in just like the video shows then take a clean rag and wipe it down.
Does that work ? Some scumbag has scratched my car at back

I'll try that on my acne scars
very honest video, I have cat scratches on my bonnet, what is the best way to remove please?
Place a cucumber behind the cat!

Thanks so much for the honest demo. It just goes to show that people only know half the truth about WD40. I'll definitely not be using it on my car!
Same as using it on headlights. After a wash back to dull
Cool , that’s so Informative, thankx got the vid mate
Nice video bro. Very informative. Short video but direct to the point. Nice bro. Thank you for this informative video.

Wow this video was super helpful man, awesome video. Now subscribed. How often do you think you would need to reapply WD-40 for this to work.
Depends on the weather... but I'd say snywhere between every 2 or 3 days 🤔 idk

Would this help with scratches on my glasses?
Thanks I used this trick on a rental car, when someone scratched it whiled parked. 🤣
LOL!!🤣
Thx! finally someone with brains! Good job!
If I rub toothpaste on the scratch, then wipe the paste away, then wash the car with soap, would the scratch come back?
Let's not forget its oil based meaning it will cook in the sun and oxidize the paint from the sun . High temp summer for sure.
Can I use it on a black enamel stove
What about scratches that been on for years ? I know by scratching it and putting W -40 on it but the scratches are Fresh

Does the nano magic cloth work to remove scratches?
does wd-40 convert rust in car paint ? like if you have small rust spots (cancer) that you don't want to grow larger.
way to use the scientific method to test your hypothesis! The thing with facts is that they're correct irrespective if you believe them or not.

WD40 doesn’t “remove scratches” but it’s great for removing paint from scraping a pole or another car with a magic eraser
