    Excellent video.
    I tried repairing scratches on my old car using fine grit sandpaper, touch up paint, HOLT spray cans, 2k clear coats, putty, Meguiar ultimate compound, wax and scratch remover and the result was horrendous.
    Nail polish is the way to go.
    I agree with others who have said not to use nailpolish remover. They tend to damage the clear coat and then even after spraying 2k or 4k clear coat, you never get the shine back.

      I just got a gentian blue TAycan turbo - amazing color - electric car cause I am trying to get off the fossil fuels. Day 2 and someone keys my car cause obviously it's a rich guys bougie-mobile. Here's the funny part - I fought from a poor single mom , domestic abuse situation - joint the USAF to pay for school and jumped a socioeconomic class cause all I did was work hard. This was my 60 th Bday gift to myself . After I let the anger pass (why let someone's poor decision ruin my mood) , I tried to imagine why the person who keyed my car was so angry ? They wanted to teach me a lesson ? they wanted aggravate me ...ok . Looking deeply into their mindset - I felt sorry for them. Because on my poorest , most desperate day I NEVER felt that way towards anyone .

    I've ordered a Dr Colorchip (which appears to use the same sort of methodology as this) to try and fix some scratches I 'rediscovered' after removing the vinyl wrap on my car, but if that doesn't work I will try this or just spray the panel. I get more damage to my cars paint in the work parking lot than anywhere else. Have scratches all along the front fender where I think someone has sidled alongside it and hit the paint with a bag zipper or jean rivet.... I followed your other guides to blend repair my bumpers and got a pretty good result, learnt a lot and will have a much better result next time.

    Is there a reason I wouldn't be able to use factory touch up paint to fill the void? I suppose the nail remover is key to light blending and it wouldn't work on the touch up paint?

    What is proXL thing at the end? Is it a aerosol spray? I could not see what colour of that spray you were using. It looked white in the video but your car is dark blue. it confused me...

    Such a better way to do this is, slap the paint over the entire length of the scratch quickly in 10 seconds, then run a razor blade over it at an angle just like a plasterer does with a trowl on a wall. This way it sinks the paint evenly into the scratch and removes the excess without you doing any rubbing after.

      Razor blade at an angle ? I’d be worried if it causes more damage

    • @chriskvikstad4980
      @chriskvikstad4980 Рік тому

      @@jamiejeffries5017I'm a year late to this but he means feathering it. You hold the blade at an angle with the blade edge facing away from the direction you are pulling it. Just like how you use a putty knife or drywall compound trowel for home repair projects, or a spatula for spreading frosting on a cake. You never point the edge in the direction you are pulling.👍
