These little tutorials are great for first time KIA owners like myself. Thanks a lot for putting in the effort and keep up the good work. 😉
Thanks for watching! We have a few more that most people don't know about, I'm hoping to earn a few more subscribers with these!
You guys do a great service with these classes. Thanks!
Have a tucson 2022.Ty sooooo much. Your demo is better then Hyundia's. Nothing else worked. YOURS DID!😊👍
Bro your a life/$$$$ saver... best video of the year!
This video just saved my life! Thank you!
I'm glad it helped! Thanks for watching! Feel free to subscribe for a lot more useful content like this.
This video is so helpful as being a first KIA owner. Please keep the videos coming. Can you show a video on how to lock a seltos when the car is on? I have to lowest version where it needs a key to start the car.
Thank you in Oakland California
Cool. Thanks for the video. 👍
Thank you 👍
Thank you so much for the info, i was locked out of my car for 10 minutes. I was trying to warm it up in the morning and locked myself out.
Oh man! I'm glad you were able to get in. It's funny, we make these videos to try to help people, but I don't think I put myself in your shoes while making it. So I'm glad it was helpful!
Very helpful peter thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I was wondering if there was going to be some kind of warning when the battery in my keyfob was getting low. 😎
That 2021 Sorento is SICK looking!
Yeah, it looks better in person than I thought it would. I didn't expect to like the Sorento as much as I do. It looks great, and drives better than it looks.
Thanks. You've shown us before. I appreciate this short video because I can add it to a playlist of KIA features.
Yeah, we did this about 4 years ago or so, so we updated it to include it as a Kia Class and to show the 2021 Sorento which is a slightly different design.
Why would you want to add this video to a playlist...? Are you really ever going to watch this again?
If your memory is that bad I would hope you don't have a license
I do have a license! Just in case someone else is driving my car. Sending them this video is simpler than texting them instructions or having to spend more minutes explaining it to them over the phone.
Thanks, I didn't know that.👍
I didn't know that either.
Thanks for watching!
nice
Thank you for these informative videos. I'm learning much more than my dealer taught me. One question regarding the rear a/c please? My 2022 Kia Sorento SX does not have a rear a/c control in the front but my sales person told me it is not needed for the air to flow out of the vents in the 3rd row. Try as I might I cannot figure this out. I've put the a/c to full speed, closed my vents in the front and nothing out the back. I'm thinking the car doesn't have rear a/c. Thanks for any help!!
If you have Rear A/C, you'll have controls back there, and a section in the dash to turn on the rear A/C. If it's not working, you'll have to connect with your local service team to see if everything is working as it should.
Hi, I need to car camp overnight in my 2022 Telluride and want to know how to make sure all the doors and liftgate are locked while I am inside with my key fob? Thanks
will this work on a Kia cerato 2021?
Thanks. Never knew that i could do this with my 20 ex.
1st from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷
Haha! I think you're always first!
Are you behaving your self Humberto ha ha
Thanks!
I'm glad it helped!
No one ever mentions that this activates your car alarm and doesn’t give any method to stop alarm.
I learned this the hard way the other day.
How would you stop it?
I found that starting the car after I got in stopped the alarm.
The K5 keyhole positions look identical to that on the Stinger. the only movement I'm still not sure about is once you have the key in the hole at the bottom of the removal handle part , do you push out that removalable handle part using the key as the primary force whilst.pulling it outwards by hand as well.? Although I own a Stinger, I have never tried it, and some owners have lost that handle part, and if not careful, a tab could break and will not secure again, hence needing a new removable handle part, which I believe I have read on a forum, is not colour matched, and needs to be painted in your exterior colour.
Yeah, it can be a little intimidating the first time. In the case of the Stinger, it's very much like the K5 in this video (the red car) so the best advice I can give is to practice with a warm vehicle. Colder plastic is more brittle. Once you press that button, some people find it helpful to just twist the key SLIGHTLY to assist in prying it loose. Once you have the feel for it, it's pretty simple, but if you haven't ever done it, it can be tricky to know exactly what it should feel like. Hopefully that helps. The most important thing to do is to make sure that, if you need to do this, don't get frustrated. Just be patient. Some people are doing this when they're in a hurry and frustrated, and that's a recipe for disaster. (Sorry for the long-winded answer, but I hope that helps)
@@BrantfordKia, Thankyou, so much for explaining it to me, and having it warmed up makes so much sense, didn't think of that, appreciate you sharing your experience with this. 😊
Thanks now, I do not have to waite for something to go wrong and then try to figure this out.
Just when I think you have taught me everything about my Kia you come up with something else...
There nothing else like watching someone do it other than read about it and wonder if you are going to mess up you car by not doing it right. a picture is worth a thousand words.
Modern vehicles are complicated. We're just trying to simplify things for everyone. Thanks for watching!
Thank you!! I was so confused like what if my fob dies?! Lol
Yeah, this is just a good thing to know for that one time you may need it.
I have a 2012 optima and I didn't know this aha
Can u start the car with the manual key ?
Proud owner of a kia sonet here in India:)
Nice!! I'd love to see one of those someday. We don't get them here!
How do you get it back on ?
What about passander door on KIA sportage 2010?
Looking for my parked Seltos 2022 in the huge mall : you see easily the unlocking flashing lights from the back/front but from the sides it is almost impossible to see in daylight . Do you think you can ask Kia to improve this weakness.I build myself a little mast with bright cob leds connected in the rear cluster to help .Thank you.
I’m pretty sure that they don’t pay much attention to what I do. But if I ever get asked, I could pass along that information!
when i finish my new stick , i will let you know and send you pics of the result , waiting for parts. Makers should have bigger ears !
You can double tap the lock button and the horn will beep...
My Kia fob is dead dead. I was able to use the physical key but the alarm goes off and I must move in quick to stop the alarm noise. Is there a way to use the key without the alarm going off?
Hey, where to find the key hole on the ignition when required to use on either Kia or Hyundai? Thanks, Julian
If you use the key fob to press the start button, if the key fob is weak, that will start the car. Most of the time when you need to use this key hole trick, it's because the car battery is dead, not the key fob battery. Using this tip will allow you to pop the hood, and access the battery.
@@BrantfordKia you didn’t answer his question. Is there no manual ignition?
Feel so dumb, for having the manual. But seeing this is pretty cool!
You read the manual? Nobody does that anymore!! :)
@@BrantfordKia In case of emergency, yes. But the small stuff, I refer to videos. This here saved me some page flipping.
Is there a slot inside the 2022 Sorento to place the fob into if key fob battery is dead? For instance my last vehicle had a slot under the dash near steering wheel.
Great question. No, they've moved away from that technology. What you do now, is use the key fob itself to press the Start button, and that should work.
@@BrantfordKia I'm having this issue and this also isn't working. Any recommendations?
my kia fob's battery was dead but it didnt give me a warning. when i turned off my car, all of a sudden it doesnt lock and the light doesnt blink on the fob so i replaced the battery, same thing.
is the key itself enough to start the car too or do you need the plastic button nonsense around that key
You need the plastic part
Is there a hidden key slot inside my 2017 kid sportage
Will doing this activate the alarm? Or will putting the key in deactivate it?
It activates my alarm.
does the 2022 kia soul have that K5 version of the key hole?
It would be similar to that, yes.
Thanks- really helpful. Can I get a manual key cut without a fob just in case I lose my smart key? I would like something easy to carry in my wallet
Does This Pertain to a 2012 Kia Optima SX Turbo ? I Really Need Help Unlocking My Door My Key fob Is Dead
Yes! It will work on your Optima!
Where can I actually find a white one. Kias are favorite cars and I just bought a 2018 without one.
What’s the button on the handle for? I don’t want to look through the whole manual for it
It unlocks or locks the door if it's pressed with the proximity key nearby.
It opens or locks the door if the key fob is near. You can leave it in your pocket.
When i turn off my K-900 the entire car and brake peddle is as hard as a rock you can press down, and there is no power with key fob and now lights what so ever on car. 10 minutes later Key Fob work and now i can start my car. When i do start my car the clock goes spinning around uncontrollable and the back curtain goes up and down. Whats up with my 2015 K-900 that cost $62,000 dollars
How about mine says key fob not detected inside vehicle & the brake pedal is stiff. 😢
But how do you start the car if the key fob is dead?
That's a future Kia Class!! Actually if your keyfob is too dead to unlock the car, but has just a tiny bit of battery left, use the keyfob to press the start button. So literally press the button with the keyfob. The car will start. The reality is that this video is most often needed for people who have a weak or dead car battery.
I sit inside my Forte with my fob, and system says I don’t have the fob to start the car. What gives? And I see the display says, I need to change battery on my fob, after to changed the battery.
Check to see if the battery is in upside down. That's a common reason for that issue. Other than that, I'm not sure, you may need to check with your local Kia Service Department.
@@BrantfordKia it wasn’t upside down, there must be a defect is sensors
@@BrantfordKia would they charge me for that, I on.y have 28k on my car.
@@BigTBad I can't say what other dealers would do. If we can cover anything under warranty, we absolutely do. If the key fob was dropped in a lake (as an example) and that's why it doesn't work, then Kia would not cover it under a warranty that covers manufacturer's defects, etc. So it would depend, on what they find... Again, if it's been driven over by a car, that's not warranty, if it just stops working, that would be warranty, etc.
Mine does that sometimes. I just press the Start button withe the gob and everything is back to normal. Probably gets into a situation the programming code can't decide what to do.
Wtf...? Why the hell would Kia do that? That crappy plastic cover is going to end up getting lost or broken eventually
Should have just left the keyhole alone like other manufacturers
I don't design them, I just explain how they work! :)
How do you start it when the key fob is dead?
Generally speaking, the key fob battery isn't fully dead when it won't open the vehicle. In that case, use the key fob battery to press the start button. Usually, when you need to do this to get into the car, it's the car battery that is dead.
How did you get that key tho wtf
How modern technology takes something that has worked for decades with a regular key and turned it into multi step redundant annoyance.
The doors are already unlocked
OK but once you unlock the 2018 Stinger the car alarm starts going off and there’s no key hole to put the key in, and the car won’t turn on without the key fob within it. So this key is kind of pointless
Generally, this needs to be done when the car battery is dead. If someone is doing this because the key fob battery is weak, or dead, they have probably ignored multiple warnings about the key fob battery going low. If the key fob battery is so low that it won't open the door, it can be used to press the start button, and that should start the vehicle, but if you're using the key fob to press the start button, you REALLY need to get that battery in the fob changed asap.
I have a 2019 Kia Forte with a keyed ignition. Every function of the key fob works fine except for the unlock button. If you lock the car with the fob, then try and open it with the door key, the alarm will go off and won't let you start the car.
The physical key just does not come out no matter how much I try.. it feels like it's glued in or something
Interesting. They're not designed to be simple to remove, (they don't want them to fall out) but maybe take it to your local dealer and have them show you. If there's a problem with the key, it's good to sort that out before you NEED to figure it out.
@@BrantfordKia my brother in law has a Honda pilot and he lost the key phob part because it was too easy to take apart. I think it was around 600 for a new one.
I just became a Kia owner, and this is the dumbest design. Why???
