- If you have locked your keys into your trunk on your Kia Ootima and cannot get year keys out of your trunk because the alarm is preventing the vehicles trunk from opening this video will help you to reset your factory alarm and allow the trunk release to release.

Just wanted say thanks. I got my keys locked in the trunk on my rental out of all places in Hawaii. CAA was able to open the door but unwilling to disassemble the lock like in your video. Thankfully a maintenance person was around and helped me using the steps in your video

thank u so much for this video, first time I left my keys in my trunk and was very surprised to find out kia didn't put a trunk release inside the vehicle. I found ur video and love how it gets right to the point. thank u again. I was able to continue with my plans for father's day. since my car was blocking all the other cars from being moved. As a woman it was awesome and easy to follow the instructions. The tow company wanted to tow my car to the dealer and wait for monday, but I was visiting Oregon and needed my car to dricve bback to Washington. first try was a charm.

Excellent video! I had a family member lock her keys in her rental Kia at the grocery store. All indoor buttons are disabled when doors are locked. Spent about an hour troubleshooting and doing web searches and then found your video. A couple of minutes later she was on her way. Thanks for a quick, concise super helpful video!

OMG I can't believe this worked. Literally went for broke, because I called one locksmith during work and he couldn't figure it out. Spent all night worrying about it and tried to block it out of my head. After I got out of work, my friend gave me a ride back to my house, and I found this video 4 in the morning and your tutorial was the lightbulb that went off in my head and my last resort. All in all, thank you VERY MUCH bro, you saved me $150 plus taxes.

Our AAA guy triggered the safety feature on the alarm when he opened the door so we were unable to pop open the trunk. I’m a locksmith & I just ran into this issue with an lockout on a 2019 Kia Optima as we speak & I’m doing this because I unlocked it & theirs keys are locked in their trunk & the alarm disabled the trunk button. Thanks for the video!

keep in mind a lot have a pull tab behind rear seat driver side headrest on deck, under plastic tab

I don't know if you will ever see this message, but I have to tell you how much this video saved me. I locked the key in trunk this rental car and long story short six and a half hours later I took the remaining 2% of my battery life and searched for help on UA-cam. Lo and behold there your video was and I did it! I was losing sunlight Advance Auto was closing in 20 minutes I was in the parking lot for six and a half hours Enterprise sent their roadside assistance after being on hold for an hour and 40 minutes AAA comes out he opens the door and says I'm sorry but I can't help you. You're going to have to call back and have them bring out a locksmith or get this car towed. My phone was dead mind you at this point and he just left. I walked to every store around to try to find a little battery power pack, I did find one and it only charged my phone to 4% I tried to call roadside assistance one more time and after 49 minutes I was down to 2% and I found your video. And now I am sitting at home thanks to you and not sleeping in the car in a parking lot waiting for Enterprise to open. You are awesome and I cannot thank you enough

I was wondering if you knew of a way to idk uhhh hide it? 🤔🤷 or fix it enuff that they possibly may not see it right away? I know body work is not the same as mechanical but...it was worth a shot to ask b4 I shell out $750 to file a claim thru my insurance. I appreciate ya!

There’s a tab with a wire behind it to open the trunk. It’s located driver side behind backseat headrest theres a picture of an open trunk on the small tab

It's broke. Open from inside with emergency cable that is in the trunk. Access through the rear seat.

Perhaps the battery is dead.
At the back of driver's passenger headrest, is a little box. Remove the cover and a loop string in it. Pull and trunk will open.
Depending on what year the car is.
