Thank you for this video, it was very helpful. The online documentation sucks and I was unclear on how this actually opened and was afraid to break it.
Super! Thanks! I wouldn't use the key as a prying tool since like other indicated: it'll scrape the plastic. It is better to use larger flathead screwdriver.
Better to use a screwdriver than wear out the insides, but thank you for the video. It helped. On my 2020 Kia Soul GT-Line the car didn't open and buttons didn't work at first. I found a video about reprogramming with the manual key, but I don't have a key hole. I pressed the lock/unlock button a few times and it worked again.
I just did it but I wouldn't use the key to pry open the key. I did that at first and mine didn't pop as smoothly, so with force it badly scraped and dented the inside plastic. Had to get a flat head screw driver to get this done.
Thank you! I never knew that key was there! I have those batteries from something else. Took me all of 1 minute and i got a nice “thank you” from my husband. 😂
Mine was dead. Changed the battery and there is a little red light on the key with a steady glow, and the key doesnt unlock the car. What did i do wrong?
@@tarahef1 what year is your car? For our 2018 cerato GT I just installed the battery and all was good. Maybe it's just like taking off a service/oil change reminder. In my Holden Caprice there's a process of holding the ignition button for ten seconds then pumping the accelerator pedal 3 times and it's reset. I reckon there'll be something like that for your car.. Let me know what model and year your car is
@@Mandy87Marie it’s a little tricky with the 2020 forte GT-line. You have to find that little space in the key and also sit it on a hard surface while you do it
The newer FOBS don't have an emergency key. Instead you use your existing key to pop the lid off the driver's door handle on the rear side. I use a blade screwdriver on the slot that holds the key to pop off the side that is removable. Then there's 4 small Philip screws that you need to remove to expose the CR2032 battery under. Replace the battery and reverse the process.
*Dude, you need to yank this video.* I damaged my case attempting to open it using your (incorrect) method. The proper way is to insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot closer to the edge just above the key-blade hole, not twist the key-blade in the center. This damaged the center tab and made it impossible for me to close the silver blade-handle ring back on afterwards. :(
How often do you need to change the battery in the new keyfob? I think I changed the battery three times in 5 years, on the old keyfob. But I'm sure with the power hatch and remote start function, they will drain faster.
@@seeniedk I found the issue later. It seems there are two design for the box. Tab on mine is on the opposite side as compared to this video. It's fucking stupid. More like the company wants to puzzle more people so you seek charged service for a battery change.

I'm an Automotive Instructor and ASE Master Tech, I tell my students to change remote batteries once a year as a preventative maintenance.
Just did this. Took a lot more force than shown for the initial "pop", but can confirm this works! Thank you!
Thank you so much. It was a piece of cake. Literally 1 minute.
Did my wife’s Audi, what a pain !
Thank you for this video, it was very helpful. The online documentation sucks and I was unclear on how this actually opened and was afraid to break it.
Worked perfectly. Thanks a bunch. Had spare batteries on hand and it took less than a minite to do. Mine was starting to not work .
Thanks!! Worked great!! Had to use a flat head screwdriver though as opposed to key as key was scraping it up
Same here. The key cut through the plastic inside. A flat head worked great.

I watched 3 different videos yours was by the most simple thank you for posting the video to help others out.
Excellent…..just changed mine in about 60 seconds……THANKS. Great job…
For a long time I was afraid it was gonna get deprogrammed, but worked. Thanks!
Yep, just popped the Seltos key open in 10 seconds... great clip
It worked for my Kia key fob forte 2020 ! thank you man
It worked! Thank you. I used a flathead screwdriver.
Thank you very much for this video. Saved me a trip to the dealer!!

Even with reading the manual didn't show how to take apart so Thank u !
Best tutorial on the subject
Thanks. I just changed the battery on my Kia key fob.😊
Using the emergency Key damages the plastic Tabs because the THICKNESS of the Key is too great. A slimmer screw driver is better suited
Yep that's what I use...
Thank you so much for this video, its so appreciated.
Would help if you also specified battery part number.
It should be on the old battery
Either a 2032 or a 2025. It will be on the top of the battery and available in any store
Is there a way to turn off a 2021 Telluride key fob? Thank you in advance.
Thank you that was very informative and I will replace my battery today
What size it that battery?
Mine was dead. Changed the battery and there is a little red light on the key with a steady glow, and the key doesnt unlock the car. What did i do wrong?
I have the battery replaced... but the key I now not synced with my car? And no key holes to use the emergency key.
Will you need to reprogram the key fob after replacing the battery and if so, is there a tutorial for it ??
No you don't.. New battery and away you go

What size battery do I need?
Mine won't come apart! I'm afraid of breaking internal plastic pieces. Any suggestions

Great it’s just working
My key doesn't actually fit in there. Might have to try a flathead, can't seem to twist it open :(
The lid doesn’t even slightly budge when I try this. If I push any harder I’m going to break the plastic
My tab instantly broke, awesome
thanksss,worked greatttt😊
