    Nice and simple but takes time.......I see you went with the awesome Garmin 93sv touch screen with UHD 54 transducer. That's going to make you happy. I have hummingbird low end units on my boat like everyone else getting the garbage 5 inch minimum trash fish finder. I'm really amazed that boat companies sale bass boats with pretty much only a map and 2D finder. During these days the standard console fish finder should have down and side imaging....... PERIOD.

      I agree. I’m sure the 5” would work fine on a small kayak, but definitely not something that should come standard with a brand new bass boat. I’m loving the 93SV so far. Thanks for commenting.

      @@STEVEHADDOCK No problems with the boat bought it new in 2020 but the trailer bunks are already having issues already replaced 4 there is 12. They are easy to replace just thought they should have lasted longer. I think it could be warranty work just don't want to tie up the boat and they don't cost much. Thanks for the video. I'm thinking that's the 54 transducer. My 56 bracket won't fit in the old holes. It seems too low using the template so I'm going to hang it on a plate from the top step. We'll see. Maybe garmin has a skimmer and connector for on pane?

  • @klink370

    Great video. Thanks. I am wondering if the original transducer cable had a connector somewhere in the middle that was disconnected so that you could attach/tape it to the new cable and pull through the plastic side cowling or if you had to cut the old cable so it would pull through? Also, could you run the power cable with fuse directly to your starter battery versus getting power from the fuse panel or is the power cable not long enough for that option

    • @STEVEHADDOCK
      @STEVEHADDOCK  Місяць тому +1

      The original transducer cable was a continuous cable and did not have a break in it. I actually taped the new cable end to the side of the old cable when I pulled it through.Then I untapped it and pulled the old cable out. I honestly don't recall exactly how long the power wires were from the factory. I'm sure you could splice more wire on if you needed it to run back to the battery.

    using thr swing arm RAM mount are you able to swing it around and view it from the bow area? my current 5” unit mounted by the windshield area is able to swing around and view it from the bow, but Im wanting to upgrade to a 9” Garmin like in the video. I have the same boat I bought garmin 126sv and I’ve been over thinking where to mount the transducer the instructions said to mount it on the right side because of right hand rotation of prop and 15” away from the prop looks to me like bass tracker mounted on left and to close to the prop just for looks and not to manufacture specs for the transducer the hook 5 in my opinion has never worked that great other than being low end fish finder wonder if this could have something to do with why ?

    • @STEVEHADDOCK
      @STEVEHADDOCK  7 місяців тому

      I hear you on the over thinking…I tend to do that a lot. I spent some time on researching the placement as well. Garmin has some recommendations but at the same time suggest going with the boat manufacturer recommendations. The internet is a real rabbit hole sometimes. Just decided to try it where they had the previous one and it has worked out well. I’m not sure that the prop wash is much of a factor for my situation. I find that I am usually using the trolling motor when I am using the fish finder.

    • @STEVEHADDOCK

      I used 1/4" x 2" Hex head stainless steal bolts with 1/4" flat washers and 1/4x20 locking nuts for the mount to the boat. The bolts for the graph to mount I just used some other 1/4" bolts I had around the garage but would probably work well to use the same bolts as the other but maybe 3/4" length or so.
