According to the google street view from September of 2016 Wendy's was there, then as of October of 2017 the Wendy's signage was gone and it looks like Tim Hortons remained open for quite a while in the old building until the newer one was built.
Yes the October 2018 and October 2019 recordings it still remained Tim Hortons only, Google Street View is proven to be better than Mapillary because this year all of the remaining 16 year old not updated Google Street View got finally updated Wendy’s moved up to the North Pointe plaza, Tim Hortons moved next door We still have that combo near us
Thanks for another great video wallie. Much respect to you. Keep up with the great work. You are the Best UA-camr on UA-cam in my opinion. Big fan from Canada 🇨🇦
Tim Hortons originally was mostly just known for coffee and doughnuts but really started diversifying their menu in the late 1990s. One thing they used to have is chilli in a bread bowl.
I love their coffee and sweets, but not a fan of their sausage. The chili was ok but had mushrooms in it, which I am not a fan of personally and find them to be an odd addition to chili.
Weird fact but this was my first Wallie video and this would go on to start my retail and abandoned obsession, And have been watching videos old and new thank you Wallie👍
Reminds me of the Tim's/Wendy's location that's still open to this day in Monroe, OH. Takes me back to when my grandma would take me and my sister there to eat while staying at a hotel across the street. Nice memories. Thanks for the video Wallie!!
Many independent doughnut shops and small chains were driven out of business by Tim Hortons. Among recent redevelopment agreements in the township is a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen location to be built on the site of the former Wendy’s/Tim Hortons on Owenfield Drive, next to the new Tim Hortons site near Meijer. The building will be torn down and a new one built on the same site.
Now you'll see less of those 'duals" as nowadays Tim Hortons (the whole chain at both sides of the border) is part of Restaurant Brands, the same Brazilian-owned (3G Capital) company that also owns Popeye's and Burger King. So these "duals" are now up to the franchisee level to a few businesses who owns both TH and Wendy's franchises.
The Wendy's half of this location closed a couple years prior to the Tim Horton's. The Tim Horton's closed in July 2020 obviously when the new store opened next door.
Fascinating find! I had no idea that Tim Hortons and Wendy used to be part of the same company. It looks like the Wendy’s closed ca. 2017, and the Tim Hortons in 2020. The Wendy’s drive through, which I found on Street view, was where the new Tim Hortons is.
There, is a Tim Hortons/Wendy's Combination Restaurant that is still open, located on 23 Mile Road and Baker Road on the Chesterfield/New Baltimore, Michigan City Limits. The, Tim Hortons/Wendy's Combination Restaurant is still open to this very day.
That front facade looks kind of like a bank or credit union. Doesn't look like any Wendy's from the 80's/90's/00's with that front greenhouse thing with the fake plants and maple table/chairs. I have family in the Columbus OH area, back in the 90's I remember seeing a few of these Tim Horton's/Wendy's locations, but we never ate at one. I did eat at the FIRST Wendy's location in downtown Columbus. It was huge and had "the original" 1960's Wendy's dining room, probably a recreation of what it looked like. The "original dining room" was small/tight. Maybe 3 two tops, a couple 4 tops. Dark wood paneling, orange/brown trippy carpeting, stained glass light fixtures, all the furniture was dark walnut/oak, had those crazy beads hanging in the doorway where you entered.
Wow, I honestly had no idea back in the day that Tim Horton’s and Wendy’s had a joint venture to be able to have two restaurants in the same location in various spots. Looks like this did recently close too because of the notice that was put on there that pertains to Covid safety. Such a shame that these buildings are going by the wayside in place of what I fully agree it’s such a boring design with the shoebox that everyone is going for now. And shopping centers signs from yesterday you’re are pretty much gone now in fever of these ones where they have businesses on the bottom and then apartments above them. Heck, I just saw a prime example of this when I took a quick trip back home just over the weekend to where I’m from originally (suburbs near the Milwaukee area) and in a spot where there used to be a motel as well as a bar, both of those have now been torn down and I would not he surprised that in its place more apartments sprang up. Modern architecture has become way too predictable and so boring!
the best Wendy's move I ever saw was they closed a Wendy's on one side of a street and built a new Wendy's right across the street from the old one they closed. I guess people going eastbound were hungrier than those going west. they made that move shortly after McD closed their store that was next to the old Wendys and moved less than a 1/4 mile down the street to be right next to a BK.
You're SO right about restaurants having more character back in the day. I grew up in mid-80s to mid-90s. I remember McDonald's having the red roofs and "french fry" lights (IYKYK) playgrounds, and MdDonald Land characters everywhere. Wendy's had the fake plants, and the solariums that heated up like ovens in the summertime, because of all the glass, but you still wanted to sit in there and eat, even if it meant you'd be sweating lol. Taco Bell had actual terracotta tile roofs on the fronts of their stores, stucco exteriors and arched windows (a'la Mexico, or what they thought Mexico looked like, anyway, lol), and for a while, their stores even had a real bell, hanging from a little faux cupola at the top of the roof. And of course, they had the chihuahua, albeit that was a bit later. Kayla, that dog inspired MY love for chihuahuas, too-AND I had the stuffed dogs, too. They talked, using phrases from the commercials. I had three out of the four. One said, "Here lizard lizard!" Another said, "¡Viva Gorditas!" And the third, of course, said, "Yo quiero Taco Bell." Lol! Sadly, I think I lost them in storage. But what awesome memories. Oh, and fun fact, I'm pretty sure the Taco Bell Chihuahua was, in real life, female!
Ohhh the nostalgia! My first job was working at one of these combo restaurants back in 2003. They'd bring us doughnuts and Timbits all the time! The Wendy's dining room would close at 11, while Timmies was open 24hrs. Even though Timmies and Wendy's no longer share a partnership, most of these combo locations are still running here in Canada. Timmies is more than a coffee/doughnut shop... They have wraps, chicken burgers(not the greatest), potato wedges, chili, soups, and many other items... Maybe the US ones are different????
Now this looks very neat. Can't even get cup of Tim Hortons Coffee or Junior Bacon Cheeseburger. The shoebox design will age fast. Everything is so minimal and boring now.
They just upgraded the Wendy's/Tim's combo in my area about two years ago. It's always packed, so I don't think it will be shutting down anytime soon. I prefer the older Wendy's decor style, it's so bland looking now.
They have a hamburger/coffee joint together because they will not compete against each other for business. We have a Wendy's/Tim Hortons shared building in Orchard Park, New York. Its just about a five minute drive from the Buffalo Bill's football stadium. Always busy no matter what time of year. They have a separate drive thru for each business. The set up is the exact same inside the building.
I used to go here all the time as a kid. I have memories of eating doughnuts in the morning while watching cars drive down 23. Memories man. My mom got robbed at that UDF gas station behind your car, and we would sled down the hill next to that Meijer there. 😂 It’s wild to see it like this.
I remember when Wendy's had the tables with the different stuff on the tables, all the writing and different things on them, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, this was from the 1980's to early 1990's
I, remember when Wendy's had the tables with all the writing on them. I, also remember Clara Peller from the Wendy's Commercial, titled Where's the Beef?I, remember Wendy's in the 1980's and 1990's.

Awww that's sad, they built so many of these in the mid-2000s and I've never seen one successfully reused. They die a slow death, usually with the Wendy's first and then Tim pulls out. They were nice buildings, huge dining rooms.
I think they lost the least two years ago Wendy's was in the back. Wendy's restaurant and tim hortons had a special relationship but they quit it there ONLY three left with wendy and Tim hortons
There is still a few of these open around Columbus. London grove port road in grove city is one. It would be cool to see dunkin come in an turn this into a mega dunkin / Baskin Robbins store
There used to be a number of these dual wendys timhortons and other such places along the entirety of the 401. Most were originally constructed during the 60s in various styles like a cabins and ufos and other weirdness. By the time the mid 00s rolled around they were quite dated, tired and rundown. Tim Hortons being mostly Canadian was a great business to go along with Wendy's because at the time Wendy's did not have breakfast Tim Hortons was mostly a breakfast and coffee products so it really did well as a combination for the time but since Burger King's bought them the world was changed
Hey, there’s a mystery Tim’s closed for 3yrs now adjacent to many ethnic takeout, groceries, a laundry and city bus transfer hub. Barton and Grays in Stoney Creek Ontario.
That is cool, gives many options to have one person have Wendy's and another person have Tim Hortons at the same time. Wendy's must have closed first, the Tim Horton's drive thru had a piece of Plexiglas for covid and the Wendy's drive thru did not. Also the Wendy's side doors have emergency exit only labels

yes, Wendy's had a partnership with Tim Horton at one time. Now Tim Hortons and Burger King are owned by Restaurant Brands Inc.
Add Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen to that list. All 3 owned by the 3G Capital investment group, led by Brazil's richest man.

I agree, new buildings for businesses don’t have character anymore. Great video
It’s nice to see an old abandoned building like this in such great shape, with no graffiti or windows broken out!
It's a very high traffic area that doesn't have a lot of pedestrian access. Not really the type of area prone to a lot of loitering and vandalism.
